Tomb Raider music is timeless. I’m 47. I played this game while I served in the military in my early 20’s. During garrison specially on the weekends I would go to my room in the barracks and play Tomb Raider all day long. I loved it and still do. Fantastic memories.
After playing the remastered version I have fallen in love again with this beautiful game and it's incredible music. The feeling of isolation is incredible. Tomb Raider 1 2 3 are still incredible games. Steve 👍
"The feeling of isolation" That's exactly it. Remind me of Ireland in Chronicles too when you play as a young Lara exploring the spooky sights of an abandoned island: night sky, torches, skeletons, crucifixes, water hags, evil spirits, headless knights, etc.
These TR soundtracks never get old. I cannot wait until February when the remastered versions of Tomb Raider I -III Come out. MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE VIDEO GAME FRANCHISE!
I was playing this while running through the warehouse at work the other day. Lol climbing up on shelves and stuff. I was by myself of course... Haha so much fun.
I don't mean to sound pompous but this is a masterpiece. McCree must have known it when he pressed playback for the first time. Great moment for a composer :)
*User nekokna wrote in a comment above:* Nathan McCree wrote in an interview about this song : " “The Puzzle Element” - Tomb Raider III. This was a bit of an experiment really. I needed a piece of music which I could play whenever Lara had a difficult puzzle to solve. He once said in an interview that he chose the direction for the music when it occured to him that she not just an explorer... but a lady too. The classical sounding music totally suits this when you think about it.
I used to play this game when I was a child but I've never forgotten about Tomb Raider, even I reach 50 years old... Time is going out quickly but memories still stay alive ! :) I LOVE TR AND LARA CROFT
How in the world have you managed to play this when you were a child? If you were 50 5 years ago, then the game was released when you were 30+ years old.
I Love My Mom for showing Me Tomb Raider in My early Years, it gives Me Everytime another goose Bump to hear This wonderful Soundtrack! Wish These Days would Comeback Sometimes❤️
Currently replaying this game and almost finishing it and I never realized before how often this track plays XD It’s in almost every stage! Not complaining of course, I freaking love it!
Don't know why, but when I hear this song, not only I think about Lara and all her adventures, but also of "Troy" movie starring Brad Pitt as Achilles. Perhaps because this song actually sounds so legendary or epic, just like that wonderful movie and that character splendidly portrayed by one of the best actors alive, who was seeking for eternal glory. Probably also cause of the sense of greatness inspired by this track, guiding mind and fantasy to those incredible and unforgettable times of true History, like Greek epoque, and the myths it carries.
Hmm this song specifically reminds me of a movie scene, maybe a dark thriller by David Fincher, perhaps a montage driving around a rainy cold city, looking for clues on a missing person. it been over 24 hours and time is not on your side.

I remember this soundtrack in the third Tomb Raider game alright. It's kinda amazing and relaxing. It can be played in Lara's home, one of the levels of India and the Egyptian exhibition at the museum in London, UK 🇬🇧. Where else is it played again? Sorry I'm just wondering that's all.
I'm not unsensitive to retro sounds like 8-bit and such, but the feel with people playing and putting their emotions in it is something else. I just want to hear another version that I think the composition would fit @@troywright359
Well, your wish became a reality just months ago, as Nathan recorded this track with real instruments for "The Tomb Raider Suite". It's on Spotify for free, check it out. Both versions are pure gold.
Nathan himself? Oh wow thank you so much for this news ~ @@Rockwars10 After listen to the philarmonic version I can agree that both are pure gold. They didn't alterate the feel the original version had while putting original features in it, truly brilliant.

I beat this game while on leave in 2010 for nostalgia 😂. Hard to believe that this game is as old then, as Modern Warfare is now.
this comment was a while ago but this makes me curious have u heard of the new remasters coming out? they look amazing!
Beautiful.

It's so nice to come home after a long work day to just be "by myself" and play Tomb Raider to just chill and solve puzzles.
"The Puzzle Element" must be one of Lara's favorite pieces of OST since she listens to it in her own mansion. ^^'
It's a masterpiece yet it sounds so mysterious.

All the Playstation 1 Tomb Raider games had and still have the best music. You just feel so connected to the game. It says just explore. Steve 👍
Cant wait to hear this again in tomb raider 1-3 remastered on PS5
😌🎮

Like climbing trees instead of shelves, I just love these moments when we listen to Nathan McCree’s music💯❤️😂
Bruh 🤣🤣
Did you find any secrets ? 😅
My favorite part of the soundtrack. I can still remember running through the waterfalls in India. Such a fun game!
Yes I remember I was just getting into the game in the India level and then this fantastic, suspenseful music started... What a great game
Very true! It was one of my favorites!

It also can be played by the player in Lara's mansion!
I spent many hours playing these games I miss it 😔 Lara Croft forever in my heart

My favourite piece of tomb raider music ever. Gives me such a nice feeling
Exploración , incertidumbre, inmersión y nostalgia es todo lo que siento con este tema.
soledad y miedo
This is as iconic as Venice violins is
One of best tracks in this game. So nostalgic from my childhood, because TR3 was my first TR game i ever played. So many memories. 💗

4 people couldn't figure out the puzzle element
😂
The vibraphone and strings sounds from whatever synthesizer Nathan McCree used to make this awesome beautiful melody just brings back memories.
I'm going back in time with this song
This brings me back to running around in that massive Museum. This track played nonstop while Lara explored the exhibits. :3
2023 this ost still feels so fresh and amazing
Even in 2024
I'm not exaggerating too much. It was the best game of 2009 and it's still the best game in the world
Errr...but this came out in 1998, and yeah, it's still one of my favorite games too.
Always been one of my favourite themes it’s so beautiful and mysterious.
Very memorable song, after all these years I still hum it from time to time :)
So do I.
nostalgia takes over me, every time I hear this song track ❤❤❤❤ i love
Love this music 😊
Anyone else who has being playing rise of the tomb raider hoped this song was going to play when you turned the music on in the mansion?
Venice violins was still a good choice
Gives a 'climbing the stairs' vibe to it haha

Such a warm sound to this piece. Those 90's Analog synths 🥺 they must be Roland Synths maybe a JP8000?
The food chain puzzle
I love the progression from 0:10-0:20. I don't know much about music, what is that kind of change at 0:15 called?
It's a chord change. What type of chord change? I haven't a single clue about that.

seems that's a one tone up transposition
0:39. we get to hear the background chimes by themselves......man we need a whole track of just them with none of the other instruments
🤘🤘🤘
I thought this was TR4 soundtrack, I really got surprised when I heard it on TR3, somehow I feel it would be better on The Last Revelation
Creepy. I love it!
