Truly superb videography again Dronehawk! Many thanks…you’ve excelled again this time…you must have spent many hours editing your video footage. It’s wonderful to see a railway coming to life again. Any idea when they plan to have the line re-opened yet? I’m looking forward to watching your video reports when they seriously begin to re-building the line from Athenry to Tuam and Claremorris. My late relative Bill Mannion….who lived in Tuam….was a great supporter of the railway’s re-opening. I think you’ll soon be videoing the section work being undertaken between Athenry and Claremorris….but I think reopening from Claremorris to Collooney Junction is a long way off yet! Keep up your excellent reports and I wish you many more happy hours of work on our behalf. Thank you so much for your efforts! Rob in Bournemouth, Dorset.
If we could see the rebuild of the railway commence from Athenry to Sligo and onto Derry via Donegal. Then we’d have a great railway from Derry to Limerick.
Have hear my Mom saying how she would take the train from Killybeges to Donegal town. If the had that line back again it make things better for all ! More so for cargo .
Great video and well done. It is great to see this railway finally being restored. While visiting Foynes about 15 years ago I located the old line, almost obliterated by vegetation. It was sad to see mature trees growing from between the tracks. By the way what is the title of the accompanying music? It is really nice. Thanks for the video.
I got to love how well work is progressing, and the historic feel of the line is respected as well with keeping as much of the original bridges and underpasses or building new ones with the historic feel. I just hope that they will restore the derelict station building at Foynes and maybe the signal boxes as well although they will not have any use anymore? Perhaps install the modern signalling electronics in the lower floor? Were you not concerned loosing signal when flying trough that tunnel?
Earlier I had heard about this old railway bridges, building and tracks come back alive again. This update was really grand. I've been waiting for an update on the progress on the line. Thank you and outstanding work. It is interesting to see that bridges and tracks are being replace, are kept to the way that the founders had laid their railway in the pass, still modern material. How much government regulation are involved? The Lackawanna Cut off is taken about a decade and more to get this passenger line reopen with so much government regulations.
@@dronehawk I wish we could do the same here in the USA. An old rail line the Lackawanna Cut-OFF coming back to life with out red tape. Thank you for your reply as well.
Does anyone have any idea on the method that will be used to transfer freight form the end of the line in foynes across the road to ships berthed by the quays. Will they be craned across directly onto the ship? Its one area i'm curious about. There isn't going to be a rail spur built across the road surely.
Thanks. Another great video. If they ever decide to open it for passengers again, the fact they sold off Adare Railway Station only a few years ago could come back to bite them for the Ryder Cup!
The large passing loop at adare gaa is an indication of passing or parked trains. Also word locally is there are talks about the station being bought back. Only rumours atm
@@trevorbeacom6187 There are large sections that can be double-tracked, and many bridges are wide enough for two tracks. Passenger trains would be almost guaranteed to return. even if they were steam.
Would anybody know the name of the piece of music that plays in the background of this video? It’s really nice. I have tried Shazam and got numerous results none of which match the music.

Thats the question everyone wants answered Tom. I'm not going to jump on the white elephant bandwagon yet, but I do reckon its being built on the "build it and they will come " premise
Restoring a abandoned Railway, closed in the late 1980s. It runs from Limerick City to the Port of Foynes in Ireland , about 45 miles in length. Being reopened for freight traffic to the port . Thanks for watching
I have to disagree. If that is original Stone built, available to use/re-use and not restricting the use of the railway, it should be preserved, even if only carrying a pathway.
where is this and im confused. is this main line/branch line or a heritage line as Foynes Railway Project sounds like a heritage line but all at once seems to big for a heritage line

@@dronehawkMany thanks for that information. I will look into.
Good on you Eire! This what should be happening in the Uk but isn’t at the moment
Too much money gone into HS-2 , So kitty is bare
Isn't this part of an all Ireland project ? Don't you mean Ireland and Great Britain?
Excellent and informative coverage. I assume the wavey newly laid track will be made dead straight before ballasting.
I think that's all done at the same time , they lift , straighten and tamp the ballast in one pass
Great flight well done
Great work as always. Thanks for the updates. such a lot of effort

No , I was on the bridge just after the tunnel, so I could clearly see it the whole time
Wonderful pictures in a beautiful country cheers Bob.👍👍👍👍🦘🍺
Looks like real progress being made now, thanks for the update, great video content 👍, like your logo at the start 👏

As there was a line here already , a lot of the usual planning red tape was cut through as they are just renewing what was there already .

To answer that we'd need to know the type of freight, which no one does
Super cool. 👍😊
What are those red "hoops" over the track for? Cables?
Nicknamed goalposts, they indicate to machine operators where overhead cables are

Looking at the riveted construction of the bridge span at 1:57, is this a refurbished original bridge? If so, it must have been well made.
It's the original but refurbished and strengthen
I suspect the rivets are more cosmetic than real at this stage.
It's a shame that the overall roof at Foynes station was demolished, but it was too far gone in fairness.
It's going to be rebuilt I've heard
WOW Its really come on. Though if it was China would have been done 4x over by now 🤪
For rural Ireland though, on the home straight!
I would love to know where this is & what is the story? Australia.
