Well done sir, I could listen to these stories for hours. Your production seems to be coming along, nice introduction. I look forward to your videos, keep them coming, and I'd love to hear more "Phil" stories!
Great moments of nostalgia! Thanks for the wonderful story. I'm sure many of us can identify with it, as all kids go through their trials and tribulations. I'm looking forward to more of them.
Hello John, What a wonderful story. Some people are meant to tell stories, and some are meant to listen to them and you my friend are definitely meant to tell them. See ya next time and God Bless :)
Every time I get a chance to sit, relax, and spend a few moments listening to you spin a yarn, I find myself smiling and contemplating finer moments in life. Thanks, for that, my friend. I also appreciate that you tend to puff away at that pipe an awful lot, when you are lost in the storyline. Just like me. :) always carry a shovel, eh?
Boy, I've missed your stories John.- Wonder if Phil inspired Nick. When my son Johnny, was 9 or 10 years old he was seen by a neighbor girl peeing on some bushes. She told her mom and her mom called the cops. He got a ticket for indecent exposure and we had to go to court. That never would have happened in the sixties.
Yet another well told tale to make me chuckle. Glad to see some new posts. I've missed your stories. And you were right about Billy Budd; everything else I've tried since has been a disappointment :)
Riverboat Gambler -- great blend. Nice take on the C&D burley with that turkish. That story is hilarious! Glad you didn't eventually end up in jail ha ha ;) Have a great weekend, John. Peace, Eric
My childhood buddy Brian was like Phil, always starting something and I was just along for the ride. Got in to more trouble with him, and I haven't seen him in near 40 years, but when I light a pipe the memories flood back to life. Good story Matches, thanks.
Great story John, I think we all had a friend like Phil, I know I did he was called Brian, sadly we lost touch many years ago. Last I heard of him (from another old friend) that he had commited suicide, he shot himself at age 45, He was the last person I thought would do that he was so full of life. Take care John
Too funny. Ya kept talkin about Phil and his duece droppin. Then ya said you were all covered in "paint and crap" and I said wait a minute...wooooo! Lol.
Reminds me of my antics with the butcher, we would yell into the place to stop killing the live chickens, This was when you could see them cut off the heads and throw them into a funnel to drain the blood while the bird flapped about. This stopped when the principal got on the PA and warned us to stop or else!
To be totally honest, a lot of this stuff I kept in a very crude diary starting in 1965, so that kind of jump starts the old worn out brain. Ask me about something in the '80s or '90's and we're in big trouble.
Matches860 I'm sure that helps out. You sure seem to remember those incidents in great detail. You know, nicotine has been shown to aid in memory and discourage degenerative brain conditions like Alzheimer's. www.scienceagogo.com/news/20031012195753data_trunc_sys.shtml You never know, that pipe might really be bringing those memories back. Lol.
Hey John. I don't know if you'll ever see this comment mate but that was one funny story. I had a friend just like Phil, your 5 years older than me so we kinda grey up in the 60's. Looking back I'm sure now a days my friend (Kenny) would have been diagnosed with being on the autism spectrum towards the strange end. He always carried a phone handle with him, the big old black ones. And he was always taking a dump when ever the urge grabbed him. I remember my Dad banning him from the yard because of his bowel habits. I often wonder what became of Kenny and his phone receiver. Great memories mate. Regards, Kevin.
Matches860 I believe a man always stays a child somehow, to the end of his days. So what happens in childhood has huge influence over man. I have a friend, i met when I was five. He lives on the other side of the world now. It sucks...
Great story! Be sure you keep the original file (non youtube) of these memories ... One day your grandchildren may get a kick out of you and "Evil Phil" :)
You know, when I first tried Riverboat Gambler I thought I might be saying bye to Haunted Bookshop. R.G. is/was more expensive and gave me a bit more nicotine than I could handle. Bowl to bowl, I'd pick R.G., but over the long haul,H.B. still wins.
Awesome to hear! Just threw a tin of R.G. into my order from pipes&cigars. I smoke haunted bookshop almost daily so this is right up my alley. Thanks for the reply Matches!
I will definitely get back to you on that. Wasn't planning on smoking it right away but after hearing your opinion on it, I'm cracking it as soon as I get it haha
Matches860 woah well I smoked a bowl of R.G. today and it was absolutely amazing. Exceeded my expectations. Definitely going to keep it in my rotation. A great companion to H.B. but with more interest
Love the clarinet intro! Great story John... I really hope one day you write a book full of these short stories. Also, I've really been wanting to try that riverboat gambler. Is has Burley and Perique, correct?
Too funny. Ya kept talkin about Phil and his duece droppin. Then ya said you were all covered in "paint and crap" and I said wait a minute...wooooo! Lol.
Another GREAT Phil story!!.....I wonder if he ever made it to adulthood??!!
LOL, doubt it!
Transported back to the glorious 60s. Thanks John. Enjoy your weekend.
Oh yes, those '60's which will not really be appreciated till those who lived through them are gone LOL
Another humorous chapter from your childhood - and told so well! Kids do the darnedest things! lol!
LOL, kids certainly do! Many thanks for watching!
A wonderful story...thanks John...brightened my day as always! Phil
Thanks Phil, it's always great to see you Mate!
Lol I lost it when you said “in Phil’s defense, there was a no leash law” haha.
Well done sir, I could listen to these stories for hours. Your production seems to be coming along, nice introduction.
I look forward to your videos, keep them coming, and I'd love to hear more "Phil" stories!
Thank you very much! I wish I had a million Phil stories, but my memory only has enough for one more video sometime. Many thanks for watching!
Great moments of nostalgia! Thanks for the wonderful story. I'm sure many of us can identify with it, as all kids go through their trials and tribulations. I'm looking forward to more of them.
Thanks for the great video John. You are an excellent story teller. Nice Savinelli also, love the stem - Manuel
Thank you Manuel, it was my pleasure my friend!
Hello John, What a wonderful story. Some people are meant to tell stories, and some are meant to listen to them and you my friend are definitely meant to tell them. See ya next time and God Bless :)
Thank you very much Richard, it's a very relaxing way for me to pass time as I enjoy a smoke. So glad you joined me!
Thanks for watching Tomas, glad I'm still around to enjoy the memory LOL.
I love old time stories like this! Way to go!
Thanks for watching! 1960 is about as old time as I can get LOL.

OMG! Times have certainly changed. I did leave out a peeing incident which occurred during this same period, but I hate implicating myself LOL.
Yet another well told tale to make me chuckle. Glad to see some new posts. I've missed your stories. And you were right about Billy Budd; everything else I've tried since has been a disappointment :)
Hey John, Great story, brother. Our childhoods are chuck full of fond memories. Bones(SGB)
Awesome story brother! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed every second!
Many thanks for watching! Hope all is well!...Cheers!
“The last thing you give phil is a shovel” 😂😂
Riverboat Gambler -- great blend. Nice take on the C&D burley with that turkish.
That story is hilarious! Glad you didn't eventually end up in jail ha ha ;)
Have a great weekend, John.
Peace,
Eric
You know, I had RG a few years back & loved it. Somehow I forgot all about it till recently. Very tasty stuff!
Another awesome childhood story! Thanks for sharing!
Many thanks Scott, as always, it was a blast to share!
My childhood buddy Brian was like Phil, always starting something and I was just along for the ride. Got in to more trouble with him, and I haven't seen him in near 40 years, but when I light a pipe the memories flood back to life. Good story Matches, thanks.
Such fun it is to reflect on those days! All those experiences (for better or worse) shaped who we are today. Have a great week-end.
Light snowfall in the background was incredible! Good childhood tale!
+hauntedtank75 The white blossoms from the Black Cherry tree only fall for a day or two each year...I was lucky to catch it!
Oh, I thought those snowflakes looked kinda big...but what does a Florida boy know about snow? Very cool!
As soon as I heard "my friend Phil came" I knew something was gonna go down.
Great story John, I think we all had a friend like Phil, I know I did he was called Brian, sadly we lost touch many years ago. Last I heard of him (from another old friend) that he had commited suicide, he shot himself at age 45, He was the last person I thought would do that he was so full of life. Take care John
I had to watch it one more time.....
+Pipes And kayaks Some events just stay with you for a life time!
Absolutely!
Too funny. Ya kept talkin about Phil and his duece droppin. Then ya said you were all covered in "paint and crap" and I said wait a minute...wooooo! Lol.
That one got by the editors LOL, it should have been paint and junk...someone's gonna lose their job over this one.
That was great, thanks for sharing with us. You had me crackin' up. -BriarBro
Great video! Please make more I greatly enjoy them!
Great vid, great, story Matches. Thanks.
Great story John. Got a good chuckle from this one. The stuff we do when we were kids. I could write a book. LOL
We lost a great storyteller when Matches moved on to the other dimension. I bet he's entertaining whoever's there with him.
Thanks for sharing another of life's experiences. Your Video quality is outstanding.
Thanks so much Glen, it was great to wander back in time as always.
Reminds me of my antics with the butcher, we would yell into the place to stop killing the live chickens, This was when you could see them cut off the heads and throw them into a funnel to drain the blood while the bird flapped about. This stopped when the principal got on the PA and warned us to stop or else!
Great story. Miss you brother
Nice story, John. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you for taking time to watch my friend!
Great story, John. I'm not sure I'd be willing to relate some of my childhood shenanigans. Cheers my friend, ~Hilman
I can't tell all of mine Hilman, believe me!
Great video as always John. Always enjoy your stories :)
Thanks so much Mate, always glad to have you join me! Cheers!
Love this story! Thanks for telling it. BOOYAH!!!!
In hind sight, I could have split this into two videos, but I was sort of on a mental roll when I hit the record button.
Matches860 I liked it just like it is. I was lost in the story you did a wonderful job!
I think we all knew a Phil growing up. I'll add, you have a sharp memory! I can't remember half my friends names from high school!
To be totally honest, a lot of this stuff I kept in a very crude diary starting in 1965, so that kind of jump starts the old worn out brain. Ask me about something in the '80s or '90's and we're in big trouble.

Hans S. Well, out of the entire story, I only have vivid memory of several scenes and the "proclamation" which has stuck with me all this time.

Matches860 Thanks John. Yep, they certainly lived in different atmosphere to us. Appreciate your reply brother.
I sincerely love your videos. Your vids are nostalgic and very relaxing. I would love to meet you.
Many thanks! Everyone has similar stories I'm sure!
What a great video. Good to see you again!
Nice work on the video graphics. I was thrilled when I figured out how to just put music on my vids.
Hope you see Phil again one day, John...
debbe Taklamakan Every so often I do a search online...you never know!

Love the Phil series. LMAO
Wish I had more, but alas, nothing but bits and pieces.
"Drop a stool..." hahaha
Lol! Looking forward to more stories
Good childhood story!
great story!
Fantastic video
Loved it!
Thanks Joey!
Great story! Be sure you keep the original file (non youtube) of these memories ... One day your grandchildren may get a kick out of you and "Evil Phil" :)
Probably no grandchildren unfortunately, but if I lose my marbles, these stories may bring me back.
Great story.
Take care
Many thanks for watching my friend...have a fantastic day!
Would you consider Riverboat Gambler to be as good or any where near Haunted Bookshop?
You know, when I first tried Riverboat Gambler I thought I might be saying bye to Haunted Bookshop. R.G. is/was more expensive and gave me a bit more nicotine than I could handle. Bowl to bowl, I'd pick R.G., but over the long haul,H.B. still wins.
Awesome to hear! Just threw a tin of R.G. into my order from pipes&cigars. I smoke haunted bookshop almost daily so this is right up my alley. Thanks for the reply Matches!
You should find it more complex and you may even say it's better than HB. Let me know if our tastes agree!
Great story.
Thanks for joining me!

Hey Buddy, yeah, R.G. is burley,VA,perique, and Turkish Tobaccos. It's very smooth, but delivers a good nicotine kick. Very pleasant!
Aah i wonder wat became of Phil.
how is your friend phil
nice.
Many thanks!
ماهو نوع البايب الى فى يديك
Too funny. Ya kept talkin about Phil and his duece droppin. Then ya said you were all covered in "paint and crap" and I said wait a minute...wooooo! Lol.
