Just be aware the fish eye lenses distorts distances massively. In my car even when I'm a few feet away from the car in front in slow moving traffic it looks like about 5 metres
It’s the paintwork that took longest for me! But, to be fair it’s the first time I’m painting a car :) - hopefully will be sharing the experience in the next video.
This crash was 100% avoidable. Tesla's vision-based collision avoidance system is garbage (especially when it is partially blinded by the sun sitting low on the horizon --> like in this crash footage). Tesla's software renders the cruise control essentially useless, forcing the car to slow down randomly for no reason - OR - being unable to react fast enough if you let your guard down - utter garbage. I should know, I bought a brand new model 3 in september 2023. It's a good (pure) ev, but everything related to 'driving aid' on that car is absolute dogsh!t.
Completely agree, I’ve been driving a model 3 since 2020… the autopilot is only useful on the motorway and you have to keep your foot near the accelerator (do Americans still call it a gas pedal?!) just in case it sees a shadow while overtaking a truck! To be fair it’s better now on the motorway, but isn’t designed for our local roads.
Superb work man.
It’s a front crash makes me wonder didn’t Tesla have front crash breaking? Or was it turned off?
Thanks, it’s a camera based system so it’s easily blinded by the sun, shadows etc, it doesn’t look like it saw the car at all
I agree - that looked like an easily avoidable crash. I'd guess the driver wasn't really paying attention at the time?
Great video. That dash airbag is a bear! Took me about 4 hours to do.
Thanks, 4hrs is good going - I think I took longer :). Just seen a few of your videos - the crash footage is interesting. Very similar to mine.

Nice video, the crash footage is shocking. Surely the driver could have stopped or slowed down a lot more!
Just subscribed! Interested in buying a salvage Tesla.
👍
Where did you purchase the dashboard kit, steering wheel air bag, and seatbelts?
EBay, it was £1200 for the kit. Plus £62 to have the ECU reset
Ah yes, the dash. That literally took me the longest. about 40% of all work.

@ had color matched parts so maybe painting would’ve taken me longer haha.
I tried to find colour matched parts, but there just wasn’t any available at the time.

How much was the total cost.
Hi, I’ll be sharing costs in a future video when the car is fully repaired.
