i am also a DHMCT holder and i have trained in kitchen too my initial interests was with kitchen during my second year of diploma we people were sent to Industrial exposure training IET in courtyard by Marriott Hotels working in kitchen is nothing short of hard labour if people are thinking about becoming a chef please work in construction industry as a daily labourer for some time then place your feet in kitchen the kind of work and the grind that you go on daily basis is super hard you need more of physical power than mental power to survive in Main Hot Kitchen you cannot become an executive Chef right after completion of your degree or dhmct it takes a solid good amount of 10 - 15 years as you raise positions the pay will be good but not in initial stages some times you will not be offered a job in kitchen but your are made to work as an Apprentice no salary nothing all you get is a certificate. during your iet training you will be a paid a meagre stipend for 6 months . people dont get tempted watching fancy cooking shows and becoming a chef think before twice before joining any hotel management institution they charge lakhs of rupees just to be brainwashed to work as a labour in hotel. your campus placement heavily relays of how pet you are with your lecturers and principal they can make you a career or they can break your career no matter how many marks you have scored in practicals how much fees paid. if some one really desires to be in this profession dont be in kitchen do some Garde manger courses than work in a good hotel gain good communication skills than search for greener pastures like working in cruiselines the pay is much better than hotels in india. if you think this as bullshit just join any BPO night shift you know thats where all industry haters join and work including me too.
