You are one smart dude, Leckyjake! Your troubleshooting is spot on and you know your systems. I am not a sea farer by trade but rather, a helicopter maintenance engineer and have been for a very long time. Your videos refresh my troubleshooting methods and remind me of the importance of a very methodical approach. Thanks much.
Interresting video as always, thanks! I'm curious as to why the smoke-detectors are mounted remotely instead of inside the cargo holds? Also what are all those CO2 bottles used for? Fire suppression?
Just a guess, absolutely not qualified in anyway to answer, but my guess is because these sensors would need to be mounted on the ceilings, and in potentially very difficult and dangerous to access areas. Routing piping to these locations and then pulling air through to a central location brings all of the maintenance to that central location as well.
Yes. it's for fire suppression. Since it woud be difficult and time consuming for the crew to extinguish fire inside the cargo holds. Thanks lecky jake
Yes, slight delay in sensing due to distance but robust pipe work delivering sample air instead of cable works and connections and detector units spread everywhere and getting damaged as well as needing maintenance Correct me if wrong ? Good eve
