The look on Bellatrix’s face when Harry is screaming, it looks almost as if for a moment she feels sorry for him, and then goes back to her mental, sadistic self again.
Yeah definitely, it also plays her character well, her and serius are family at the end of the day, so it hurt her but she's a full on insane death eater. But yeah i like to think thats her actual reaction but keeping in character.

Remus's faceial expression when he is holding Harry back is heartbreaking. He lost James years ago, now his last friend died infront of him, while fighting side by side with both their friend's son...
He lost James, thought Sirius betrayed them and killed Peter, whom Lupin knew as a friend at the time, then turns out that Sirius was innocent and it was Peter who betrayed them (so having to deal with both realizing that Peter wasnt dead AND that he betrayed them) and then losing Sirius yet again. Lupin has been through a lot of shit and was the last marauder standing before his death. Its sad. I want a marauders tv series (also going into the first war at that) if not a film series.
That's exactly why as bad as I feel for Harry when he's roaring out in grief and shit, I feel even worse for Lupin. He's trying to save Harry from getting himself in deep shit, but in truth Lupin also lost someone that day. He had probably just gotten his relationship with Sirius back on track after what went down in the Prisoner of Azkaban. Reconnected with someone he grew up with, thought for a while he was culpable for James and Lily's lives, and shortly after finding out the truth loses the friend he was starting over with.

Neville is low key the best character in Harry Potter. He goes from overlooked to hero all on his own merit. He had a tragic backstory just like potter and was almost the chosen one. He is courageous when he needs to be and even killed nagini with the sword of gryffindor making Voldemort mortal. Love that guy!

I loved what they did with Dumbledore and Snape fighting though. Now that was the motherfucking epitome of awesome. Stuff the kids and the KKK and the Order, two of the greatest wizards battling it out was amazing. Even if he was the apex of evil, you would seriously have to respect the sheer calibre and velocity of Voldemort's skill and powers.
Is it just me, or is this scene so beautiful? I mean, when the Order came, they Apparated with this stunning white smoke, and for the Death Eaters it’s black smoke. And then when they fight, the light flashes out of their wands and the scene is so … amazing.

Its not confirmed, but people have theorised he uses it on his off-hand as it's enchanted with a shield charm, so he wouldn't need to worry about casting one as he attacked with his wand

i think the thing that really hurts about this, besides the loss of Sirius, is that out of every one of Harry's friends, it's Neville, the one who was visibly shaking when the Death Eaters came, who tells Harry to not give the prophecy away. He's the one who made sure Harry knew that this was more important than their lives. A true Gryffindor.
Just read the book and reason Neville says that is that the rest are KO'd in other rooms (the fight takes place all over the Ministry) and he and Harry are last men standing and Bellatrix puts Crucio on him, same curse she drove his parents mad with.

It's strongly suggested in the books, but never confirmed. A shame, really, the Department of Mysteries never has any significant role in the series other than in the Order of the Phoenix.
JK has stated that the voices are supposed to sound louder to those who have a stronger belief in the afterlife, that's why Harry and Luna could hear them but Hermione (the scienctific skeptic of the group) could not.
I just finished reading Sirius' death scene in the book, after a break of two years not reading the books. And I cried. Something about the death of Harry's godfather was more emotional than the others. It's important not to overlook the significance of the fact that it was Lupin who held Harry back. Out of every other character, they were the two who were truly heartbroken, who really lost something, when Sirius died.
Having read the books about fifty times, yes, it's an unforgettable detail. Perfect choice, who else was it going to be, Lupin lost his closest friends and Harry was his last connection to them as Lupin was Harry's last connection to a certain part of his parents lives.
He was indeed. He had a lot of fatherly figures, he had Mrs Weasley as a surrogate mother, but none of them were a parent to Harry in the same way as Sirius.

I love how they made this battle especially at 3:37 - 3:44. It's beautiful how order of the phoenix members and death eaters are battling while flying and showing more wizards and witches battling on the ground at the same time. Its just beautiful
The part I didn't like was how they made Harry's friends hide in the battle. Tonks told them to hide, but they were also fighting the death eaters as well before they arrived. It wasn't just harry.
Everything about this scene is so well done. Right from Sirius's opening line, to the music that gets my heart racing, the badass entry of the Order, the light and dark contrast, the chaos, the panning shots, the sense of triumph interrupted by something ominous, the shock, the emotion. This is my favourite scene in the series.
Her laugh is ICONIC and perfect. Nobody could have conveyed the character Bellatrix except her. The way the order pop in like angels when all hope has faded = perfection
One of the most gut-wrenching parts of this scene is--that scream Harry gives, where the soundtrack is muted? Daniel Radcliffe didn't mime it. As with Al Pacino at the end of Godfather III, it was so raw and hard to listen to that they ended up removing it from the soundtrack.
I loved the movies way more before I read the books. The previous battle just with the D.A was supposed to be harder: Hermione saves Harry from Dolohov, then he nearly kills her, Ginny gets a broken bone, Luna is knocked out, Neville has a face to face with Bellatrix, Bella defeats Tonks, kills Sirius, beats Kingsley, then she shows to be practically immune to Harry's Crucius (or Crucio, I don't remember) and somehow teaches him how to do it and then dodges a Dumbledore's spell and escapes him as well. This is just...arg
+Emi CT Bellatrix was a much bigger badass in the books. Like you said... Defeats Tonks, Sirius, Shacklebolt in one fight--come on. In an interview, Rowling confirms Bellatrix killed Tonks in the battle of Hogwarts. Toys with 3 student witches while laughing. Got cocky in the end, and falls to what some might call PIS (plot induced stupidity). Badass.

Ginny was technically the only one fighting her, because Hermione was using Bellatrix's wand, which was still loyal to her, so Hermione was barely doing something, and Luna is not much of a combatant, she's just able to hold her own a while. 2. Despite being PIS, Molly killing Bellatrix had a good point and it was awesome.
Emi CT Agree on all points, but still 3 on 1. Luna is still capable of Stupidy, Expelliarmus, etc. If just one gets through, it's over. And, I didn't say I didn't enjoy Molly's win :) I always thought it had something to do with that "old magic"--- love. Bellatrix was still a badass.
The entire Ministry of Magic battle in the book was way more intense. I do love the movie, but I really wish an extra twenty minutes had been devoted to adapting that epic battle.
I think that's why it's so impactful. Sirius loved Harry, he even said "We'll be together soon as a family" The one thing Harry wanted was a family even if it was just his godfather that was enough. Could you think back to when he first comes to Wessly's home in the second book? Ron is worried that Harry will judge him for being poor. But Harry doesn't care about those things because he sees that the home Ron lives in is loving, it's kind, it's a place where he won't be locked up for the crime of existing. When Harry finds out Sirius isn't the one who rated his family out to Voldemort his first hope is that he can live with him. Have a family have someone who will love him and care about him. Sirius dying isn't just the loss of someone he loved though that's a huge part of it. It's the loss of hope that he has someone who will be there for him. Love him, someone who he can talk to without judgment. Someone his parents trusted and loved enough to place him in his care.

The shot at 3:35 with the view of the battlefield is my favorite shot of the series tbh. The way the camera pans around and we see everyone in action looks super cool.
This is without a doubt the best scene in the entire Potter series. It has so many cool features: Moody beating up a Death Eater with his staff, Lucius being punched in the face, Sirius duelling Lucius, The Order of the Phoenix making an EPIC entrance, finally Lupin grabbing and protecting Harry right after Sirius dies. Best scene in the entire Potter verse!
Why did they make Bellatrix such a chump in these movies? In the books she beats Tonks, defeats Sirius and stomps Kingsley back to back, 1 after the other. Agreed. She is the most powerful death eater and the most powerful after Dumbledore, Voldemort, Grindelwald, McGonagall and Snape. She really was extremely powerful but in the movies they didn't show it as much as Jo did in the books.
No. She already stomped Kingsley in half a page and defeated Sirius in a decent fight. Lupin doesn't remotely have the feats to take her on. Moody is the only one you could make a case for, but he is out of his prime and lost to Bellatrixes inferior teammate Dolohov, so she would most likely beat him as well.
YES. Finally someone agrees with me. Also, she is not THAT crazy. She has her moments of madness, especially after she escaped from Azkaban (but stiil, Sirius was in a mess, too, during the first months after he escaped) but then she has a totally focused and rational discussion with Snape in book 6. Also she was quick enough to notice the danger in the Malfoy Manor. She only does this childish voice twice. When she taunts Harry in book 5 and right before she is killed in book 7. And wtf with the bad teeth and the sexy clothes? She is never described as sexy or provocative in the books.
I have two things to talk about, one Sirius, “Nice one James” he said this without noticing, which showed how much he missed his best friend James potter. And Lupin, holding back harry as he screamed in pain, he to was heart-broken but could not show it to the boy who lost his Mother, Father and now Godfather.

As much as i love this one,It takes away the flight ability display by Voldemort,they all look like they can fly like Voldemort. They even used it on Hogwart ground and inside the ministry
I noticed this too. Helena Boham Carter (who plays her) actually cried at one point of shooting that scene.. so it's amazing how she is able to compose herself in this take.
I always paid more attention to Remus during the part where Sirius falls through the Veil...this is his last surviving "good" (even though Sirius could actually be a supreme dick at times) friend from his school years, which he always said was the best years of his life...the look on his face while he both has to process this AND stop Harry from attempting to go after him or get him back is heartbreaking. And Rowling actually said the scene was shot with sound, but they decided to take it out because the really anguished yell Harry lets out was too painful for everyone to hear.
Yeah, he taught all his friends who were which got subdued by the death eaters plus contending with death eaters. Harry is underrated as a duelist I think, or at least until now I have really recognized how good he actually is.
Or the death eaters are just incompetents. Lucius got distracted and then disarmed by Harry using the spell verbally, then got disarmed again by Sirius. The other Death eater was just fodder loser
The only thing I think they got wrong with this scene is bellatrix appearing and killing sirius. In the books harry looks over and they are dueling. Sirius is laughing and telling bellatrix 'you can do better than that' and dancing around her, hence getting hit in the chest. It much more showed sirius' reckless side and his attitude toward life.
+Victoria Diakou Yeah. That was a disappointment in the movie. It trivialized Bellatrix's abilities. She didn't just pop up and curse Sirius, and she didn't cast a verbal Avada Kedavra. The spell was not described like any other AV in the books. Like you said, she caught Sirius in the chest because he was careless, and that impact pushed him through the Veil.
They also toned down Sirius's recklessness greatly in the films- practically nonexistent, from what I could tell, probably for time sake; though it would have helped to build up so much more of his character in the films like it did in the books. While I appreciate that they did make Bellatrix much more... crazy, or, as close as they could to the books (if I remember right, she was insane, or close to it), her magical abilities were sorely lacking, which was an annoyance. And for some reason, at least for me, having her just crawl back into a fireplace and disappear was... a massive let down.
They really messed up that part of the scene. First of all, the Death Eaters started shitting themselves when Dumbledore showed up, which is why nobody except Sirius and Bellatrix were still fighting, and they had already been fighting for a while, she didn't just appear out of nowhere. Sirius wasn't inattentive in the book the way the movie showed him , he was just reckless with his taunts and she threw him off.
I love how, while most of the OotP members in this scene are shown standing proudly as they arrive on the scene, Tonks starts looking around at 2:56 like *“Yeah, come at me, Death Eaters! Order of the Phoenix IN THE HOUSE!”* 👩🏻🎤🤟🏻
The way I ve rewatched this so many times just to listen and see the key moments. Moody taking two death eaters at a time. Le'strange laughing her head off running away from Tonks. Sirius being a rlly good duelist. Cool white and black smoke everywhere. Epic music in the background.
3:01 was always my favorite little moment. When a Deatheater throw some spell at Sirius and he blocks them. With the Soundtracks it's very awesome. Also when Sirius and harry fight together. Can someone explain what is this ''form'' they all fly with? Death eather often use it. Now phenix order members do it there and never again. Was that suppose to be early ''apparate'' depiction?

Yes, that is right, "unsupported flight" was only seen in the books and it was performed by Snape and Voldemort. This type of "smoky flight" where the death eater's smoke is black and the Order's one is white is only seen in the movie and only in this very scene. It still hasn't been explained, though. I've been trying to search for this in various web pages but still can't find the real reason for this. I guess it was only part of the movie. It would've been really cool if Hogwart's teachers had used this "smoky flight" (white version) in The Deathly Hollows battle.
Actually, it is explained... The Black Smoke from the Death Eaters and the white smoke from the Order is a "Half - Apparate" tecnique. They simply apparate but not totally. It's totally different from the unsuported flight... The only time we see the real deal is when Snape flees from Hogwarts, when he arrives at Malfoy Manor and Voldemort on the battle of the 7 potters. You can spot the difference. The Unsupported Flight technique displays a more scattered smoke, much larger in volume, it is visually more 'violent'... While the Apparition technique is more like a condensed spiral.

I'll never forget the combination of goosebumps, tears, and an ear to ear smile when I first saw the Order arrive. It still gets me, sometimes. I feel like this was our "Avengers Assemble" moment.

Neville is low key the best character in Harry Potter. He goes from overlooked to hero all on his own merit. He had a tragic backstory just like potter and was almost the chosen one. He is courageous when he needs to be and even killed nagini with the sword of gryffindor making Voldemort mortal. Love that guy!

i think the thing that really hurts about this, besides the loss of Sirius, is that out of every one of Harry's friends, it's Neville, the one who was visibly shaking when the Death Eaters came, who tells Harry to not give the prophecy away. He's the one who made sure Harry knew that this was more important than their lives. A true Gryffindor.
Just read the book and reason Neville says that is that the rest are KO'd in other rooms (the fight takes place all over the Ministry) and he and Harry are last men standing and Bellatrix puts Crucio on him, same curse she drove his parents mad with.

I just finished reading Sirius' death scene in the book, after a break of two years not reading the books. And I cried.
Something about the death of Harry's godfather was more emotional than the others.
It's important not to overlook the significance of the fact that it was Lupin who held Harry back. Out of every other character, they were the two who were truly heartbroken, who really lost something, when Sirius died.

Right from Sirius's opening line, to the music that gets my heart racing, the badass entry of the Order, the light and dark contrast, the chaos, the panning shots, the sense of triumph interrupted by something ominous, the shock, the emotion. The previous battle just with the D.A was supposed to be harder: Hermione saves Harry from Dolohov, then he nearly kills her, Ginny gets a broken bone, Luna is knocked out, Neville has a face to face with Bellatrix, Bella defeats Tonks, kills Sirius, beats Kingsley, then she shows to be practically immune to Harry's Crucius (or Crucio, I don't remember) and somehow teaches him how to do it and then dodges a Dumbledore's spell and escapes him as well. This is just...arg

In an interview, Rowling confirms Bellatrix killed Tonks in the battle of Hogwarts. Toys with 3 student witches while laughing. Got cocky in the end, and falls to what some might call PIS (plot induced stupidity). Badass.

The entire Ministry of Magic battle in the book was way more intense. I do love the movie, but I really wish an extra twenty minutes had been devoted to adapting that epic battle.

I think that's why it's so impactful. Sirius loved Harry, he even said "We'll be together soon as a family" The one thing Harry wanted was a family even if it was just his godfather that was enough. Could you think back to when he first comes to Wessly's home in the second book? Ron is worried that Harry will judge him for being poor. But Harry doesn't care about those things because he sees that the home Ron lives in is loving, it's kind, it's a place where he won't be locked up for the crime of existing. When Harry finds out Sirius isn't the one who rated his family out to Voldemort his first hope is that he can live with him. Have a family have someone who will love him and care about him. Sirius dying isn't just the loss of someone he loved though that's a huge part of it. It's the loss of hope that he has someone who will be there for him. Love him, someone who he can talk to without judgment. Someone his parents trusted and loved enough to place him in his care.
I always react to Lupin in the end of this scene. He is looking like: Shit, I just lost another one. Or; what the fuck is happening?

This is without a doubt the best scene in the entire Potter series. It has so many cool features: Moody beating up a Death Eater with his staff, Lucius being punched in the face, Sirius duelling Lucius, The Order of the Phoenix making an EPIC entrance, finally Lupin grabbing and protecting Harry right after Sirius dies. Also she was quick enough to notice the danger in the Malfoy Manor. She only does this childish voice twice. When she taunts Harry in book 5 and right before she is killed in book 7.

And Rowling actually said the scene was shot with sound, but they decided to take it out because the really anguished yell Harry lets out was too painful for everyone to hear.

So according to this scene, Harry is actually a pretty top-notch duelist.
Yeah, he taught all his friends who were which got subdued by the death eaters plus contending with death eaters. Harry is underrated as a duelist I think, or at least until now I have really recognized how good he actually is.
Or the death eaters are just incompetents.
Lucius got distracted and then disarmed by Harry using the spell verbally, then got disarmed again by Sirius.
The other Death eater was just fodder loser
The only thing I think they got wrong with this scene is bellatrix appearing and killing sirius. In the books harry looks over and they are dueling. Sirius is laughing and telling bellatrix 'you can do better than that' and dancing around her, hence getting hit in the chest. It much more showed sirius' reckless side and his attitude toward life.
+Victoria Diakou Yeah. That was a disappointment in the movie. It trivialized Bellatrix's abilities. She didn't just pop up and curse Sirius, and she didn't cast a verbal Avada Kedavra. The spell was not described like any other AV in the books. Like you said, she caught Sirius in the chest because he was careless, and that impact pushed him through the Veil.
They also toned down Sirius's recklessness greatly in the films- practically nonexistent, from what I could tell, probably for time sake; though it would have helped to build up so much more of his character in the films like it did in the books. While I appreciate that they did make Bellatrix much more... crazy, or, as close as they could to the books (if I remember right, she was insane, or close to it), her magical abilities were sorely lacking, which was an annoyance. And for some reason, at least for me, having her just crawl back into a fireplace and disappear was... a massive let down.

They really messed up that part of the scene. First of all, the Death Eaters started shitting themselves when Dumbledore showed up, which is why nobody except Sirius and Bellatrix were still fighting, and they had already been fighting for a while, she didn't just appear out of nowhere. Sirius wasn't inattentive in the book the way the movie showed him , he was just reckless with his taunts and she threw him off.
3:45... the way moody did that move just tells us what a badass he is.
Not gonna lie, I find the idea of Bellatrix playing tag with Tonks flying around the room while everyone else is fighting quite hilarious XD

I love how, while most of the OotP members in this scene are shown standing proudly as they arrive on the scene, Tonks starts looking around at 2:56 like *“Yeah, come at me, Death Eaters! Order of the Phoenix IN THE HOUSE!”* 👩🏻🎤🤟🏻

3:01 was always my favorite little moment. When a Deatheater throw some spell at Sirius and he blocks them. With the Soundtracks it's very awesome. Also when Sirius and harry fight together. Can someone explain what is this ''form'' they all fly with? Death eather often use it. Now phenix order members do it there and never again. Was that suppose to be early ''apparate'' depiction?
I heard In the books its only Voldemort and Snape who has that flying ability and its also called "Unsupported Flight" I honestly don't know why the order members never used that magic again when death eaters were doing it all the time it would have been cool to see them use it in the battle of Hogwarts
Yes, that is right, "unsupported flight" was only seen in the books and it was performed by Snape and Voldemort.
This type of "smoky flight" where the death eater's smoke is black and the Order's one is white is only seen in the movie and only in this very scene.
It still hasn't been explained, though. I've been trying to search for this in various web pages but still can't find the real reason for this. I guess it was only part of the movie. It would've been really cool if Hogwart's teachers had used this "smoky flight" (white version) in The Deathly Hollows battle.

Actually, it is explained... The Black Smoke from the Death Eaters and the white smoke from the Order is a "Half - Apparate" tecnique. They simply apparate but not totally. It's totally different from the unsuported flight... The only time we see the real deal is when Snape flees from Hogwarts, when he arrives at Malfoy Manor and Voldemort on the battle of the 7 potters. You can spot the difference. The Unsupported Flight technique displays a more scattered smoke, much larger in volume, it is visually more 'violent'... While the Apparition technique is more like a condensed spiral.
