(Bike Routes are the orange dotted lines to avoid the highways)
I've been having a great time riding and exploring my hometown of Parke County, Indiana. On this trip I started at the Visitor's Center in Rockville. I headed towards Bridgeton and passed by 2 covered bridges. Then saw the prettiest bridge in the county in Bridgeton and stopped in the mill and chatted with the owner, while eating my ice cream. Headed towards Rosedale, saw another bridge as I went up to Catlin, and back to Rockville. I went by the Old Jail Inn and Drunk Tank Winery on the main square before finishing right back where I started. 30 miles total!

Sara, I worked at Nucor in Crawfordsville several years. Kept a small apt there during the week, going home to my wife in NW Indiana on weekends. I was very pleased to see this video. I used to drive down to Turkey Run and Shades after work. I started biking again around that time. I guess I'll have to try your route a little later this year. Just drive down early one morning when it's not too hot. I was happy to see your dad shadowing you.

Sara, It is so cool to see that you are adding to your cycling adventure this year. I am still heading down the Mississippi River Trail and will be in Memphis next weekend.

Wikipedia said Parke County has the most covered bridges of anywhere in the world. Didn't realize around 2 million people go to that festival either.
Spent 5 years in college in Bloomington and am sad I didn't check out nearby Indiana counties more. Thank you Sara for the vlog

Oh yes the festival is a BIG deal around here. I’m only just now starting to appreciate how great our little county is.

A fun video close to my home area on parke clay county line. Traveled those roads many times and played Rosedale Hotshots in basketball. I visited the Covered Bridge festival when it was a few houses only in Mansfield. They have an annual Covered Bridge bicycle ride event that I rode in several years ago. Many memories, thank you for sharing!

Several thoughts come to mind as I watched. 1) My wife and I spent days and days mapping out those routes back in the '90's. It is good to see they are still being used. 2) Looks like the roads are still kind rough (lol) 3) It is so beautiful you don't care about the rough roads. 4) Most of all, this makes me homesick. I loved the years we lived in Rosedale and still miss it. I don't get to visit Parke County much. Thank you for letting me see where I rode so many miles and called home. On a lighter note, tell your dad I said get out of that truck and on a bike. :-) These videos are a blessing. Thank you.

So you’re the one responsible for these! Cool!
But there’s no way I’m getting him on a bike for more than half a mile lol.

Very cool! With all the bridges that are restricted from cars, it looks as though bicycle might actually be the ideal way to check this route out :D

It was a blast! Definitely appreciate more from a bike perspective how cool our little county is.

I’ve seen videos of bike touring there. That would be an awesome trip! Maybe one day 🤷🏻‍♀️
