My friend does remarkably well with risperidone, but when she goes off her meds she a different person and not in a good way, with risperdone she's like "normal" its amazing
Important to remember that it is only her that can know how she feels on the inside while on risperidone and while off. It has some nasty side effects for some people, including me, that isn't worth having just for you to be enjoyable to others. I'm not saying this is the case but please never forget that and never shame her when she goes off her meds because you have no idea how it makes her feel and it can be very hard for some with a lot of negative symptoms to explain how exactly something in their body feels. So even when you ask and she's giving you a weak answer it could still mean that she feels like her body is dying (just a example).
@@gangstaboy9387 very good points you raise there. Very important to also include psychotherapy. It can't erase the condition, but it can help us cope in better ways

My daughter had the same side effect. She has fibromyalgia as well so with the restless legg and fibromyalgia she couldnt handle it @thehomeeconomistskitchen9307
My brother has being diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, actually diagnosed 3 yrs ago, his life has been going great until the last month, his wife and myself have seen changes in his mood stuff he talks about etc etc, today it all come crashing down he’s gone into full psychosis, it’s so sad, I’m just wondering can anyone give me examples of what has triggered them? Life was going along well for him, just celebrated there first born after trying for 7 yrs, I’m wondering could this somehow of done it, Also treatment advice, can’t trust him to take his meds properly… He was hospitalised today, anyway Thanks in advance

My patient's been on Fluphenazine Decanoate injections, with Haloperidol and Carbamazepine couldn't tolerate upward dose titrations; switched to Risperidone and Carbamazepine only but both manic and psyvhotic symptoms come back with a bang and upward dose titrations are making her sleep and the metabolic side effects of weight gain. Currently trying her on Sodium Valproate 1.2g qday in 2 divided doses, Risperidone 2mg BD and a monthly shot of Depot Fluphenazine 25mg. Still not working, patient still overwhelmed by side effects.. please give me some suggestions. I really appreciate the video as it has given me evidence based info that i can use, but please practical suggestions are welcome. My pt is female 31, single and lives with her mother has no other comorbidities and is a mother of one and teacher by profession. Her diagnosis is Schizoaffective Disorder Bipolar type

It’s always meds meds meds, and never test test test to search for cause. If you can find the cause you could cure the disease.
