    I don't understand how it's possible for anyone to be an entrepreneur when you need to already have a disposable fortune in order to protect your ideas before they can make you any damn money. :(

      You don't need loads of money to file a patent. The UK Patent Office can help you draft and file your own application even if really can't afford an attorney. Also worth considering asking friends, family or angel investors to back your big idea. If you put the hard work in creating a decent business plan, it is often possible to find people to back it. Try your local growth hub or innovate UK for other funding possibilities.

      @@ProductInnovationAcademy what if you get the funding to do a patent search and the patent already exists? Then you have to spend years paying back thousands from your wages, and seems like a massive waste

    The Uk government should have some assistance for people who have ideas, if the idea takes of it is good for the Uk economy! It does seem that they are making it hard to get to the next step.
    Even if you went to a company with your idea and try and cut the Patient to save cost, they can simply take your idea and with their financial muscle get the Patient in their name.
    I have read that other countries in Europe help by subsidising this process, and then they have loans and Grants for development.

      So true. I'm actually too scared to share with anyone about my invention in case someone steals it (the idea) and make money off it yet my invention would help millions of people worldwide.
      Without having the funds for a patent I'm afraid the invention will get buried with me when I leave this planet and no one will ever know this wonderful idea 💡 Shame really. Too many sharks out there. Who can you trust? My invention is 5 years old now and counting. HELP, I'm drowning.

    1. Where is the best place to search if the idea is already there? Is there one central place? How long should it take?

    nice review . what if instead of UK I file my patent in my own country(it's thousands of times cheaper) and get the right to use "patent pending" then use it while pitching my ideas to the companies in UK(maybe alongside an NDA) ? will there be conflicts? does this give me acceptable protection ? I would like to get a way round this "legally". thanks for the helpful videos always looking to see more from D2M.

      If you can then file a PCT patent application claiming your original priority date, that will give you wider protection in 147 countries, then that could work. Worth checking that this is possible before using your own countries filing process. Best to check with a chartered patent attorney, most will give you half an hours free consultancy to answer this type of detailed question!

    I got a solution for the laptops overheating problem.
    as you know all laptops are manufactured in China.
    so to protect the idea (in order to sell the invention to major laptop manufacturers later on) do I need to get patent in China only (where country of production)? or do I need to get a patent in Europe and US (where the majority of laptops get sold)?

      i heard from a very reliable source that making a patent for USA in hong kong is much cheaper than in USA and also much faster. also these days chinese companies are a little more wary about patents and their implications and not so keen to flaunt the rules. once confronted they tend to back off.

    • @ProductInnovationAcademy
      @ProductInnovationAcademy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patents can be used to stop people selling, importing or manufacturing an idea. Check with an attorney but you may not have to patent in China but just the country of sale. In this kind of case, it is often best to make best use of the grace period following filing and/or file a PCT application.

    • @ProductInnovationAcademy
