The tactical flurry that resulted from Fischer's two-pawn sacrifice required both deep foresight from him, and exceptional defensive skill from Gligorich to withstand the storm. There may have been one or two sub-optimal moves in there, but for sure there were no mistakes!
I love GM Gligoric, he played some classics, especially with his old fellow Bobby. He was a good reporter too, he wrote the first Fischer-Spassky 1972 matchbook, one of my favorite chess book ever
Some of it it seems he would be the only guy we would trust to have not merely gotten that lucky. Making room for your king to move like that was pretty elegant I think.
Great game, great players! Amazing chess of two geniuses. Gligorić is the best Yugoslav chess player ever, and I am writing from the former Yugoslavia, which unfortunately fell apart after the civil war. The Yugoslav school of chess is still strong! ☺
This is one of the best draws ever played. Great choice.
Agree!

In 1968 I played Gligoric at Lane Community college in Eugene, Oregon. I was 13 and lost in his simul!
Love your videos
Thank you.
I've come to the conclusion that Fisher's defensive skills are highly underrated.

"King on f8 avoids checkmate." Ben Finegold (?)
At that time, Gligorić was a real giant of chess and a great friend of Bobby, perhaps his only real friend.
