Yes, I know I've commented below but I left this out. Your explanation of the play between thresh & sens is excellent! Hunter GT (who also commented below) "sold" me on this machine, (after MONTHS of research) and your (this) vid just solidified the fact that I made the right choice! By the way, to all those new to detecting, I've been at this since the 70's. I've swung the best machines money can buy. THIS machine is the absolute best bang for your buck on today's market. _(2020) It's not "entry level" as the price may suggest. It's a bad azz that will give machines 2 or 3 TIMES it's price a run for the money IF you learn it! 'Nuff said!
Best description of sensitivity and threshold I've seen yet. I have the Patriot and have mainly been using factory default but feel I could be missing a lot of stuff. Your video definitely helps. Thanks.
Greg, thanks. I have learned so much more about how to use this machine since the day I made this video, I need to do an update. If you ever hunt old "hunted out" parks for silver and youre not too concerned about IHPs or wheaties, try this... set discrimination all the way up to the max 65, then notch in the nickel range, then set sensitivity up to 80 or more if you can handle it, then threshold as close to zero as possible and sound settings at 1F or 2F. Adjust the sens/thresh to where you can handle the amount of chatter. This setting will go deep and find old silver in parks you thought were hunted out.
@@AdventuresInDirt I've only had my Patriot a couple of months and have been mainly operating in factory default, but I'm having a hard time deciphering legit target from falsing. I'll definitely give your settings a try because I do better starting out if someone just tells me what do. lol I really hope you do an update video. Thanks again!
Well DK, thanks to you, THGT and Digger27 I found my very first silver! 1925 Standing Liberty quarter. Disc maxed out, sensitivity 90, sound 2F, threshold +1, nickels notched in. Working a street side curb on some property we own that I'd worked before with the Patriot in factory default, but it didn't pick it up or I just flat out missed it. It wasn't but about 4 inches down, but on a bed of gravel that was the road shoulder before it was paved. I posted pics and story on THGT's Forum in the thread titled "Wore Slap Out" located in the Finds section. Thanks again!!
@@greenrivergreg3830 Wow. That is just awesome. THGT and Digger27 have a ton on knowledge and are my goto guys also. I am glad you were able to apply those settings and it worked out for you. I got them from Digger27. Congratulations on your first silver ... great find, a SLQ with a date ... fantastic. Was your heart pounding out of your chest when you saw silver shining through? I will log into the forums later and check out the pics. Well done Greg!
I actually maintained my composure because I couldn't see exactly what it was. I retrieved my phone from the Jeep and took an "in dirt" action shot. Then I brushed away the dirt and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I didn't even know what it was called until I looked it up in Red Book. Now I'm paranoid I'll never find anything cool again. 😳
Really enjoy this channel, we subscribed and see many stories that we would never see without your help. We are potential hunters from Down Under. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for letting me know and welcome to the channel. I hope you get into the hobby. I have some great friends that are detectorists Down Under.... great places to hunt. Cheers.
CONGRATS DK on your new detector! I'll be watching your upcoming videos for sure... as I have been contemplating this machine myself. Thanks for sharing!
This is a "sleeper" detector guys! I've been swingin for 40 years and researching my next tector purchase for the last few months. THIS one is currently 1 or 2 on my list. I've narrowed my focus to the Nokta Impact. (A LOT of modes/programmes to learn) The tecknetics G2. ( PERFECT for me BUT a frequency, 19 khz, not designed for deep silver. The Macro Racer 2. (PERFECT for me BUT foreign made, chatty & only a 2 year warranty) AND this Patriot! Perfect IF... Piston grip. Trigger pinpoint & Backlight. Other than that... From all my research, THIS machine ELIMINATES the need to "upgrade" to a F75 or a T2! NOTHING is perfect! THIS is close!!!!! By the way... "The Hunter GT" has some awesome review/tests on this machine here on boobtube. Do a search!
I agree ... have a hard time choosing between my T2 and my Patriot when I go out ... I told myself that this year I was gonna give my T2 some love and have been using it most often this year with great results. Now my Patriot looks all sad so I will need to get back to using it in the next season. The HunterGT is my goto for most any review. Great job by him. Best of luck with your decision.
I'm looking for and upgrade from my Ace 250. And after watching a lot of reviews I'm going to pick up The Patriot. It seems it's easy to learn and a bang for your buck. Can't wait to get it great video.
Well I can tell you that you wont be disappointed if you go with the Patriot. It is basically a Fischer F70 which is an amazing machine and they are selling for a really great price. If you want $50 off and free shipping, you can plug in my buddies, "TheHunterGT" discount code: A1474 and take advantage of that.
DK, Congrats on receiving your new Teknetics Patriot (and) on your first hunt with it! I ordered one two days ago... I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Thanks! Still so much to discover on this machine. I didnt want to do a "full review" but just a small intro and it turned into a 25 min video. I am sure Hunter will do it proper as he always does.
I'm getting my tomorrow! Excited!!! Looks like a good machine to start. Dumb question...is the coil waterproof? I'll be using it at the beach around cocoa and def cant wade the waters in florida due to surf but would love to check the water edge without shorting out the machine or something silly!
Congrats Kim ... its a great machine ... yes, the coil is waterproof so the edge is fine... just dont drop it into the surf. Best of luck out there hunting those beaches. Cheers
Congratulations on the new Metal detector I enjoy your videos always I to have been wanting a new one may I ask why did you choose that particular one ? Thanks again
Hello Michael, I feel like my answer could be a few paragraphs long. I did a lot of research before hand. It is a clone of the Fisher F70 of which there are tons of videos and testing that has been done on it. I liked its versatility...it can be setup so many different ways depending on what you are hunting for. I liked its boost mode, I liked that you could put both DD and Concentric coils on it if you choose. I liked its weight balance; it feels very light in your hands and very balanced. I liked its super fast recovery speed, and its great depth. It seemed like a great all around machine that could find anything I was looking for. The price wasnt bad either. Now, its not waterproof but I have no intention of detecting around water so I felt I didnt need it to be waterproof. I love it. I have a number of hours on it since this video was made and am very happy with my decision.
If lowering the threshold doesnt calm it down, contact Teknetics ... could be a bad coil... (the patriot and F-70s are somewhat noisy but you should be able to quiet it down)
Looking fwd to more from the patriot. Really want to get this machine. Im hunting with the Ace 400 now. Good machine just want something a little better. GL&HH.

Too funny they call it the Patriot, when it came out I couldnt find one in stock to buy so I called them. Told them I was a 10yr vet and asked about a military discount, they told me they dont offer discounts to the military. I said have a nice day and contacted Garrett and they hooked me wright up
