    As expected, excellent. Maybe a detailed nails video would be perfect. Hand position, angle of attack according to nail shapes, thumbnail, hooked nails, ramped shapes etc. It is a deep subject to discover. Thanks.

      That is a topic that I want to get to, I'm still debating how to approach it to be honest. The nail has different curves, some natural and some that we can shape. I believe there is a preferable or maybe even "ideal" nail shape that can be applied on most angles of attack but not everyone's nail are shaped naturally the same.

    Thank you !! I am about to start with the classical guitar and I was asking friends and searching in google the correct way of doing it, even if i have to "waste" more time, it is better to learn good that re learn and change bad habits.
    And the way you explain everything it is very helpful and the better resource of learning I found by difference. Thank you again !!

    This was another fantastic video, David! I always look forward to your new releases.
    About an arm sleave, I've used "the sock method" for years and have no intention of using anything else. One advantage of a sock is the natural angle created at the heal of the sock. That bends around the elbow perfectly. Keep up the great work!

      @@DeutschlandGuy so glad you liked this one. I used socks 🧦 for decades and still alternate them with the “pro” sleeves. Somehow socks last longer while “fancy” sleeves get worn out faster.

    Talk about the use of the little finger. Im on a master degree and my research is about the feasibility of the little finger of the right hand. We know that other musician like pianists use usually, but on guitar its rare. I have developed the use of this finger and the results are going very well and musical. I'd like to see your point about this. Your channel its very necessary.

    small nitpick, technically something resting on a table isnt a clamp. something thats just on a table doesn't move because the normal force of the table is equal to and in the opposite direction of the force from gravity, so all of its forces balance out. on the other hand, clamps work with friction instead of normal force; if you clamp something like shown at 0:55, the object is not moving because the force of gravity is balanced by the force of friction with the sides of the clamp.
    in other words, something resting on a table only has 2 forces on it: gravity and the force from the table, while something in a clamp has many more forces: gravity, 2 friction forces, and 2 forces from the clamps.

    The quality of this work is insane! What can you say about holding guitar on right leg like alot of fingerstyle guitarists do now? Is it doable with some adjustments? I play fingerstyle on steel string and i have dilemma if i should swap to this classical position. I got kinda used to holding it on right leg.

    • @dadavidvid
      @dadavidvid  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you!! It really depends on the level of polyphony that you are trying to produce on the guitar. And even if you are trying to play arpeggios over this chord : (5) Open A , (4) E with finger1, (3) C with finger 4 , (2) Open, (1) G with finger 2 , you will significantly minimize the strain on your wrist and shoulder if the guitar neck is tilted upwards.

    Great video, thank you very much! :)
    What is your opinion on the flamenco position, resting the guitar on the right leg? Since I am mainly playing flamenco, I abandoned the classical position. However, I feel like the flamenco position puts more stress on my left hand when playing the upper frets.
    I would love to see a small video about your opinion between different positions and why they emerged.

      Socks are the best! They too would rather be assisting the arm to make beautiful music than to be wrapped around a stinky foot 😂

    What I miss a bit is the explanation about the angle of the supporting leg with relation to the symmetry plane going through our body. Projecting from the top of the head to the floor, this determines how the guitar is angled in relation to the chest. Should the guitar be parallel to the chest? To me, it feels more comfortable, if the neck is put more forward. This requires the supporting left to be angled towards the other leg, even crossing the symmetry plane mentioned. This doesn't look right, neither feels best in the hip, but feels good for hands. Are my observations correct, and it is some kind of compromise?

    • @dadavidvid
      @dadavidvid  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for the great question! Is your right arm comfortable with a mobile contact point between the forearm and the binding edge or does you prefer to keep the elbow on the edge instead? From a lateral perspective, if the right shoulder is relaxed, as opposed to extended forward, the right arm should meet the binding edge at 45sh degrees from the sides and soundboard. This will require the wrist to flex increasing the distance between the wrist and the soundboard. You may find yourself breaking the symmetry, as you describe, if your shoulders are not relaxed and your forearm is trying to be more parallel to the soundboard and the wrist closer to the soundboard.

      @@dadavidvid, thank you for your reply. I think you helped me fix the other issue I had, the one you describe! Previously, I said about the angle of the “supporting leg”. Which leg did you understand? I think we meant different legs.
      Indeed, I must admit that I have a preference to keep an elbow on the edge. My forearm indeed appears to be more inclined toward the soundboard with the right arm pushed forward. I fixed this by opening even more the leg which is further from the neck. This is my and the animated character's right leg. Thank you!
      When I now think about it, both legs are supportive. In my previous comment, by my the first mention of “supporting leg” I meant the leg that is closer to the top of the neck. For me and the animated character this is the left leg. I will try the change I mentioned for a while and see if it will also affect what position is more comfortable for the other leg. Perhaps they are correlated. Thanks again!

The whole CG community will be massively grateful for the insights and hard work you've done to put these together. By the way, have you ever heard of our guitar support? We have put tremendous development work into trying to make the product that enables every guitar player to achieve the ideal position for their bodies and playing style.
