Dennis Wise was somewhat harsh to Iain, but what everyone has to bear in mind is that everyone in camp exists in a vacuum while they are out there. There are no televisions, no books, no modern conveniences or anything else for intelligent or recreational stimulation, lots of mosquitoes and a serious dearth of food. Being there is testing everyone physically, mentally and especially emotionally. Wise will probably not receive enough votes to stay in tomorrow on account of this, and once he’s out he will probably reflect on the spat with Iain with a little regret. However, the difficulty of being there will manifest itself in different ways with different people. I actually thought that, slightly hypocritically, Iain wasn’t nice to Amir during and after the taxi challenge, where he belittled Amir during the challenge and following the return to camp he announced to everyone else that Amir was “screaming like a baby” which even though he was, it wasn’t sensitive to the fact that Amir has a serious phobia of spiders and should be commended for putting his foot forward not taken the piss out of. In the end these are a bunch of bored, emotional and seriously hungry people with nothing else to do but obsess about food. The occasional transgression should be forgiven.
