My village elders also said there is a tribe in China or Myanmar (I forgot, which place) deep in the jungle that speak the same lotha dialect. When they tried to contact them, they got scared and ran away. They wear the same shawals as the nagas and they are still like an isolated tribe.

Nagas are basically a mix between Sino Tibetan and Austroasiatic or austronesian tribes in China such as the Wa ethnic minority. Nagas migrated out of Tibet into Yunan and mixed with the Wa ethnic minority and from there to Burma and eventually into Nagaland. In terms of culture, Nagas are similar to Wa ethnic minority; totem worship, heading hunting, log drum and log pulling etc while genetically more like southern Chinese.

Upon the mother's death the two brothers decided to share their mothers shawl half in half and departed their ways. Therefore it even lays a bigger claim to the story since the shawls of both tribes are strikingly similar. Chakeshang broke away from the main Angami tribe and so did the poumais from the maos.
