How would I go about remilling club faces flat, and remilling grooves with the varying club lofts? How do you hold the club head so that the face is perfectly flat?
The challenge with this design would be the work holding. If you were to start producing putters, you could create a mold or setup for any particular shape putter you had developed. That vise setup would have to be checked for level, to the face, in all directions. I decided against face milling this project due to the complexity. A blade putter would be more forgiving when setting up the work holding. You could mill a mold designed to hold the particular putter design. In this project my solution was to mill the loft during the top side operation. Using the 3/8" tooling I was able to cut past the bottom edge of the face.
