- I love this song with all of my being. I truly never thought I would cover it because I didn’t want to ruin it. But I heard it on the radio the other day and I admit, I had a little tear drip down my cheek. So I hopped in the studio the next day and filmed this. It’s the only take where I didn’t have to stop because my feelings were too much to sing well. I hope you enjoy my rendition and I hope you feel something too. I love this cover, this song is truly a masterpiece. Tracy Chapman's lyrics have to be up there literally with the best that ever was in music, this song feels so timeless and always has. I love how many people have covered it and everyone kind of leaves a piece of themselves in each version so its actually quite a beautiful thing.

You can hear the pain in your voice, your voice is usually a lot more "floaty" but here you can hear the grit in your voice as your throat is closing and getting tight.

You got me remembering now my leaving Houston Texas and the magical moment, just as my car left Texas forever Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" played on the radio! wow oh wow i don't generally like Covers of Tracy chapman Especially this one. But all i can say Just Wow you have nailed this don't ever underestimate your self i listened to your past music and i think you are well talented with your voice hope you do some of the other Tracy chapman songs

Ridiculous, how good you are, and how you make me smile! I always like this song. But my brother, his girlfriend back in the day, she was half chinese, and THIS was her favourite song. Her Dad was an alocholic, he beat her up. Her mother didn't care. My Brother took her out of that situation, he mentioned to me one time back then, that's why she was thorny and quick tongued! And I had to forgive her, this new person, for her venom that'd sometimes get directed in defense in all directions.
They are still together. Two kids, into middle age, those bad times for her are long gone. But I got them, by the way. Once I'd learned about it. I got the Uncle. I got the Dad. Nobody knows! But I got it done, once I'd found out.
Guess her fast car was with my brother, in the end.

@@bobblebardsley I've always had a thing for writing. Used to be an avid reader only not so much these days. I work in a school as an Intervention English teacher, a job I came to very late in life after decades of working with my hands. Perhaps I found my calling, after all that time wasted.
