    Where else would we go? Amen to that! When my kids were younger, they would have friends who would say or believe things like "you will go to hell if you lie", I would tell them the simplest way for them to understand. There is only one reason anyone goes to Hell, because they do not have Jesus. Many years later, they still remember that, and I still have to remind myself of that simple truth sometimes. The father provides our salvation through His Grace by the finished work of Jesus. We cannot add anything to that, and we cannot lose what we never earned in the first place. We can either accept that gift or reject it. Everything else is "hevel"(vanity). God bless y'all 🙏

    I feel like a Simon Peter sometimes.....strong in the faith on some days, yet weak, denying the power of Christ on others. Thank God for The Spirit who keeps us who have not walked with Jesu in the flesh. Where would we be without Him?!

      Absolutely, me too. We are so faithfully drawn to God, then suddenly, we sin and make terrible mistakes. Thank God, our salvation isn't about what we do.
      good or bad. Salvation is achieved by our faith and trust in Christ, and knowing and trusting God at a heart level. I pray for better obedience to God and better, Godly actions, but He knows our heart's. I'm so grateful for God's gifts! He allows us to have soft hearts and open minds to receive Him and His Word.

    Election is a hotly debated topic in Theology, but it is not sonething that should steal your assurance of salvation. Believe in Him who called you. I feel that the fact that you are here, seeking the Lord, reading and learning about His word is proof that you have been called. And those whom He called, He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified! Rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ for your assurance of salvation, not in theogical debate. Thank you as always TLC and TBR team. God bless y'all, He IS where the joy is🙏

      Beautifully said, thank you. God is after our hearts. He wants us to be devoted to Him, but He knows we will stumble. We make so many mistakes and sin, but do we know that Jesus died for those sins? Yes! Jesus and our Heavenly Father love us, and we love Him!

    No one can come to the Father unless He draws them, and when He does, eat of Him, drink of Him, consume the Sacrificial Lamb🔥 and ABIDE in Him. He is the Word of life! We have absolutely NOTHING to bring to Him in worship outsid of Him. Those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. He gives us what is required to bring to Him as acceptable worship. I must always check my motives as to why I do anything good. I should do everything as unto the Lord. Help me God🙏🏾The earth is the Lords and the fullness there of! Thank You Father! Thank You Jesus! Thank You Holy Spirit!! Keep drawing us to Your Throne on Grace EVERYDAY! Keep transforming our hearts plz Father. In Jesus name🙏🏾🙏🏾🔥🔥🔥

    "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life."
    God tells us that consuming Him will allow God, His Word and His Spirit to become part of who we are. I feel this in my soul. I know this. In reading God's word every day, I feel and see Him working in my life, bringing me a joy and fulfilling me in a way I could never achieve on my own. I was struggling and empty before. NowGod is filling me in a strange and wonderful way. I trust Him and His perfect plan. God took my worries away.
    God, thank You. In You, and in your Word, You bring us a joy that cannot be found in anything of this earth. In Jesus' Name, amen.

    Jesus gives us what we truly want, to never be hungry or thirsty again (Jn 6:35, and Jn 4:13). And to be satisfied, we must hunger and thirst for righteousness, and eat His flesh and drink His blood, consuming His words and making them the essence of our being.

    Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the perfect sacrifice and atonement for all sin. And, it is believing in Him that we have eternal life. Thanks be to God the Father for giving us His Son so that by accepting His death, burial, and resurrection, all may have the opportunity to become children of light. Jesus is the Bread of Life.
    Thank you, TLC, for further explanation of what belief really means. It's a heart posture. It's an unwavering commitment to who Jesus Christ is, our Lord and Savior.

    TLC, I'm glad you brought up that simply believing in God doesn't get you to heaven/save you. I too was taught that even the Devil believes in God. But, it also concerns me that I may be one of those that simply believes and doesn't surrender to the Truth. I have questions about Jesus's comments stating "Everyone the Father gives me will come to me.", "those he has given me", "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him..." John 6:37,39, 44 This sounds like predestination to me. I've always had questions about this. I would love it if at some point you touch on this.

    • @sheliafondren1626
      @sheliafondren1626 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Through BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) I learned and wanted to share:
      Jesus said, "All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away" (John 6:37). God's providential sovereignty stands behind the challenging doctrine of election. Before God created the world, He chose those who would respond in faith.' Romans 8:29 says, "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son..." However, God's sovereignty in election does not negate each person's responsibility to believe.
      God offers an invitation for all to believe. When God draws people through His Spirit, He works through their individual faith.'
      Sin has so ruined humanity that no one truly seeks God.* Our fallen state renders us utterly unable to respond to the gospel in faith unless God first enables us. Consider salvation as a door. A bold invitation is emblazoned on the outside of the door: "Whoever will may come." Those who take hold of God's promise walk through the door by faith to see another bold sign inside the door. "All those the Father gives me will come to me."
      God's ways are inconceivably bigger, higher, and more perfect than humans comprehend
      We easily miss the harmony between the twin truths of divine election and human responsibility We should not dismiss infinite truths we cannot fully understand God's cholce in eternity past does not remove personal responsibility for unbelief in the present.
      The senousness of rejecting Christ remains a sober warning.
      The wonder of salvation humbles and amazes us. God imparts life to dead hearts. Knowing this truth compels is to confidently share the gospel with others. Salvation, from start to finish, is God’s work. All glory belongs to God.
      However, the responsibility to turn to Christ for salvation is ours.

      @DonZimmerman52 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Joel 2:32 says that all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved, as does Ps 145:18. And Rom 10:9 says that if we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, we have eternal life. God knows beforehand what decision we will make, but for Him to reject that decision to follow Him would contradict scripture. He never takes away the free will that He gives us, because He is love.

    • @christavdwalt6325
      @christavdwalt6325 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is also something I am wondering about and I find myself wanting to rebel, because if it is already decided why must we still share the Gospel, it is something that some days shake my believe in God and His sovereignty, it seems unfair that some are chosen even before they had a choice 🌺

    John 6 verses 65-71 really stick out to me today. I'm thinking that, in verse 66, when it mentions "many of his disciples went back and walked with him no more," its referring to the many followers he had. A disciple is someone who is being taught by Jesus. It's like seeing all the "cool stuff" He could do on TH-cam or IG (or wherever the kids post these days)... liking and subscribing, following for a bit, and then growing bored or disinterested and unfollowing. No longer receiving updates and new content because it was going to cost more of their time and energy, so they just decided to be done. This then left him with his 12 apostles who he questioned... even though he knew their future, they declared to him that he's all they want. I think, in that moment, they really believe that!
    How often can I be like a fickle Peter? YES, I'M ALL IN! And them quickly forget to remember Him? It makes me so upset with myself and breaks my own heart, let alone the heart of my Father.
    I'm so thankful that he has mercy on me and gives me an ocean of grace to sink in to.
    Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you, Father! Lord, I have nowhere else to go, nowhere else to be because I have YOU and you have the words of eternal life. Thank you! Let me walk out my life according to your will. In Jesus's name I come to you, amen.

    In John’s gospel, Jesus doesn’t seem to make it easy to believe in Him. Two chapters back, the Woman at the Well called Jesus’ bluff (so she thought) and said, “Give me this Living Water so I won’t have to come to this well again” (Jn 4:15). Jesus smokes her out and says, “Go get your husband.” He does the same kind of thing with this mob that He just fed; until they understand the Giver, all they want is the gift. “You want to be with Me because I fed you, not because you understand Who I AM.” And Who is He? “The true bread that came down from heaven” (Jn 6:32). Here He is, preaching in the Capernican synagogue in front of people who knew Him as a child (Jn 6:41, 59). They could not have known that the Holy Spirit conceived Him, that His brothers are half-brothers, and that He did actually come down from heaven. And He doesn’t explain this to them! Instead, He doubles down as says that if you want eternal life, you need to eat My flesh and drink My blood, because “My flesh is True food and my blood is True drink” (Jn 6:55). So what could He mean by “True”? He’s talking about eternal life, and the Samaritan woman’s water will only leave her thirsty again, and even Moses’ manna left people hungering for more. But His body, His word, His life, His Being as the Light of the world and the Bread of Life is True because it is forever. We long for what lasts, for what doesn’t die right before our eyes. We hunger and thirst for what unites us forever, for relationships that don’t end in death, but are transfigured into His image.

      There are kinda 2 camps, the Protestant camp holds to once saved, always saved, borderline to the point of no matter what. You said a prayer, but never really ever bore fruit. Orthodox teaching, as well as some Anabaptist teachings, are that your salvation will be evidenced by your growth, your confessing of your sins, repentance, etc. Almost as though you can't be sure. Personally, I feel you can rest in your salvation, but given what it cost Jesus to save me, I dare not be complacent about it. I will never earn this grace. I will continuously fall short. But I can come right back to Jesus and implore Him to refill me with Him, with more of the Holy Spirit. ❤

    • @MirandaS79
      @MirandaS79 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This question is a big part of what led to the protestant reformation. Martin Luther was very confused about the security of his salvation because his sin was always forefront in his mind. Then he read the Bible for himself and saw the evidence that salvation is by grace and since we never earned it, we can't lose it. This is a controversial topic as someone previously said, but I would encourage you to look up Martin Luther if only for the fact that he suffered the same fear as you but eventually found the security he was seeking directly from God's word. I pray that God blesses you with the answer soon.

    The Father wants a relationship with us, a personal one on the heart level. This we learned from the Old Testament. God’s plan to make that ‘stick’ is by sending Jesus among us. The one thing required of the Jews, of everyone, at that moment is to believe in the One God sent, Jesus. Then Jesus tells us His commission from the Father, to lose none of those the Father has put in His care. And who is it put into Jesus’ care? Those that believe in the One God has sent. This seems like a circular argument. But it’s not circular, it’s eternal. I like to visualize this in the symbol for infinity. ∞ It all begins with the Father. He is that point in the middle.
