For 575hp 5.4 is bad ! A 40d , 3L 6 cylinder Twin Turbo X6 with only 313hp can reach 100kmh in 5.8

Anyone who think that the whole point of buying a diesel is to save money is full of shit. Diesel cars are just superior to petrol ones for daily driving, full stop. In every single possible subjective and objective way nicer to drive.

I'd say that, if not everyone, at least the majority of customers who purchased this car did solely for the engine. Anyone who just wanted a luxury SUV would've stayed with any of the other engine options.

That's the torque converter locking after the shift. It locks after the shift and unlocks just before the next shift is made so you will see it lock back up after every shift.
You would slip too if you had a 1000 Nm on your ass
V12's are so great they sound good even when running on diesel!

Each time you accelerated, it took 10km off the tank range! Probably about right; I meet lots of new friends at gas stations even with my 2012 Q7 V8 Tdi.
That gear change from 2nd to 3rd reminds me of my ex-A6 3.0TDI, that started to slip just like that.
Incoming repairs, expensive. Nevertheless, this car is a monster. Most commentators do not understand that this was not built to be fast, it was built, just because they could. Same goes for the V10 VW, which, was a maintenance nightmare. Thanks, guys, nice video :)

It's quite normal with the V12 engine. With the 0BQ-Gearbox, the gear change slips a little bit.
I think the disabled traction control, 1000nm and wet road MAY have a say on why there is slip there
This goes along for many Audis of that time. Thats why some of these cars are just so insane. They just built them because they fucking could. Just look at the old Audi A3 3.2 or the Phaeton W12

A lot of people here don't seem to understand what this car was built for, for a start, this car was built as a celebration for the success of their Le Mans prototype, the R10 TDI which won every race between 2006-2009 when it was replaced by the R15 TDI.
1. Engine size and displacement doesn't automatically mean it should have more horsepower.
2. It's a 6.0 V12 because one, a V12 engine is smoother than a 4 cylinder and two, it's 6.0 because it has 1300Nm of torque at 1750rpm, that's how it get's 500hp, helped along with two turbos for all of that. Yes, you can get a twin turbo petrol engine with less displacement and more horsepower and torque, but it only reaches maximum torque at around 6500rpm.
And also, this car managed to tow a plane effortlessly thanks to it's low rpm performance, now try hooking up a Dodge Demon to a plane which with a tune you can get 840hp and 1044Nm of torque from a 6.2 supercharged V8, that's 44Nm more than what the stock version of this Q7 would be, in this case, 1000Nm due to the gearbox, try revving the nuts off in the Demon while trying to pull the plane along, Would it succeed? No. Would it last long at that? No. This is why heavy trucks come with huge displacement diesel engines, such as the Volvo FH16, because they are full of torque in the low rpms and torque is more important as that is what moves loads, not horsepower, also, a petrol engine won't pull it along, because it has to rev higher, plus these things are heavy, of course a diesel won't be as fast as a petrol, diesel also delivers better fuel economy because every gallon of diesel packs more energy than in a gallon of petrol.
Here's another way to express it:
Torque: A strong man who can pull a C-130 Hercules across the taxiway effortlessly.
Horsepower: A very skinny 100m sprinter who's very lean, but can run 25mph.
Here's what would happen:
*Strong man succeeds in towing a C-130*
Strong man: "Now let's see how well you can do at towing this plane"
Sprinter: "Okay."
*Sprinter tries pulling as hard as he possibly could*
Strong man: "PULL HARDER!"
Sprinter: "I'm trying"
10 seconds later
Sprinter: "I can't go anywhere, it's too heavy, my arms are aching as well"
Sounds like a tank, but it starts to make sense because of its 6.0 v12 tdi engine 💪💪💪power and power throw your amg, m and rs away, this is real power.

It might look slow, but this beast can pull an Airbus A380 with ease, while a Zonda would smoke its tires or clutch. (joke)
Zonda is high revving naturally aspirated engine. Huayra is turbocharged. That's why it has exactly the same 1000Nm torque as this V12 TDI, but much more horsepower. The huge torque comes from turbo. Without the turbo, any diesel has much lower torque than any petrol (of the same displacement). You can google old cars, such as Mercedes, that used diesels w/o turbo and compare them with petrol versions of the same model of the car. Same displacement, same year, diesel much lower torque than petrol. Not to mention horsepower, that was even worse for diesels.
I hope the part about speed is a joke too,because it does 0-100 in 5.5 seconds which is good for todays suv standard let alone when was this car made

Perfect caravan holiday car
While playing with V10 TDI ecu software I've found out that it's not a torque which gearbox can not handle but TCU that can not properly map torque reported by ECU to gear changing and torque converting locking up, the best results were achieved by "fooling" TCU with keeping torque numbers in ECU same as in stock (changing mapping of injection quantity to produced torque). I'm pretty sure this V12 TDI has been remapped by touching torque numbers in ECU that resulted in TCU going mad with shifting and torque converter locking. I wish we had an option to remap TCU but never found out how to remap TCU for 09D (Aisin). Also torque converters can be modified by installing kevlar plates, originally this modification was introduced for people who use SUVs for pulling tracks in mountains (home on the wheels or whatever they call them...). With kevlar plates they won't slip so heavily and will last longer.
That two minute video which costed me 40 kms of diesel 🤧

Diese Kupplung in einem V12 diesel müsste ja dann so groß sein wie das Auto, damit die die ganzen Kräfte aufnehmen kann.
Bei großen Motoren sind meisten Wandler drin. Halten deutlich mehr aus, sind wartungsfrei und bequemer zum fahren
Gibt genug Motoren, welche ein immenses Drehmoment raushauen und dennoch Schaltgetriebe, sprich kupplung nutzen und das auch zuverlässig.
Errost natürlich. Siehe muscle cars. Eine Trockenkupplung kann extrem viel Aushalten.

That's just the the fuel shifting in the tank from all that torque. for all we know the car isn't moving forward, the earth is rotating backwards instead.

Gearbox is dying. And it would be. ZF specified this gearbox for 650 Nm, then it was strenghtened (for select models) for up to 750 Nm. The V12 TDI had an even further strengthened bespoke variant of the 6HP (never available to anyone else ever) so that it was somewhat usable at 1000 Nm.
Whoever tuned this car cannot seriously be expecting the gearbox to withstand 25 % higher nominal force and AT FULL LOAD.
Still, it is holding up well when you consider all of this.
I have a 4.2 v8 FSI Q7. I love it and treat it as my only child. But give me a chance to trade it for this and I won’t think about it for a picosecond before taking you up on the offer.
I don't like Audi but they know how to make cars e.g. RS6 (Family 4 door wagon that is actually a track day monster).
