    I have over 20 different Hoyas, & I find Polyneura to be one of the easiest to care for.

      You must have a nice large collection! I changed the location of it and it's not thriving as much but still pretty easy to take care of.

    I bought a 4 leaf cutting about 2 months ago. My bottom two leaves are very yellow I believe from shipping stress. I have her in my plant cabinet and the humidity is roughly 70%, temp sits around 70 as well. She came potted in soil so I have left her as is. I water every few days if she feels too light. I used keiki paste two weeks ago and have since gotten two more leaves which emerged so tiny I couldn't believe they would grow to be as big and beautiful as they are 😍

      How exciting that it’s growing now! It’s so stressful when leaves turn yellow. I have some on other Hoyas that aren’t looking too good and are yellowish green but at least the leaves are still intact. I love how they start as mini leaves too 🙂. Thanks for sharing! 🪴💚

    Most beautiful polyneura I have seen. Those blooms are amazing. Also the first time I see such a large plant in bloom. Thanks for sharing.

    I always wanted this kind but I cannot see myself spending $60+for just 2 leaves and not fully developed roots. I said I will wait once all the excitement of owning this die down that means when pretty much everybody has it. Always beautiful and thank you for sharing the beautiful blooms.

    Wow, incredible plant! I read in the comments that you have never propagated it. How long do you think it was in when you had to repot it from the 3in to the 5in? Just looking for inspiration. Mine is actually growing very well. I originally got it with 2 leaves and now it has 10 I believe. I've been really contemplating propagating it, seems fairly easy but I'm kinda scared.

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I track my repots so about 3 months during the summer from 3-5 (I think it was already well rooted so it depends on how developed your plant’s root system is) and from 5-7 after a little under a year. I think the fertilizer definitely helped and it seems like it has strong genes too lol. Nice that yours is growing well! I ended up selling a cutting and set it up for them in slightly damp sphagnum moss in a cup in a plastic bag with air and it rooted well. I’ve only propagated with moss but heard others are successful in general Hoya propagation with perlite in a plastic bag or leca or lechuza pon (thinking in high humidity too). I think top cuttings may be easier to root too.

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I've had some hoyas that didn't start growing until after a year. If there aren't that many roots, maybe it's mainly working on those? How's fertilizing, light and humidity levels? Not a fact and possibly risky if the roots aren't established, but sometimes I feel like giving plants new soil/sphagnum moss help waken them up (or maybe my old soil had too much salt build up). Hope it wakes up for you soon!

    Thank for the great video, it was very informative. Your polyneura is so beautiful. You mentioned you switched the fertilizer in the video. Do you happen to remember at which point did you make that switch and which one of the two do you prefer? Also how did you water your plant since the medium is sphagnum moss, I’m not familiar with using them as a medium. Only used it to propagate before. I’m gonna assume that you probably bottom water them? Thank you so much. I hope you have a lovely day.

    • @LittleLeafSF

      Thanks for watching and glad it was helpful! I switched from Espoma organic to Osmocote in June so it was about a year with Espoma and 3 months for Osmocote. I haven’t done enough research to recommend one over the other but Espoma is organic which is weaker and Osmocote is synthetic which is stronger (nutrient wise N-P-K). I thought to try synthetic since it is stronger to promote more growth but have no proof.
      For watering the sphagnum, I just pour water over it (and I think the terra cotta pot helps make sure it doesn’t stay too wet) and pour out the excess left in the saucer or let it absorb a little. I was hesitant growing in moss since it was the first time for me but it’s working. It looks like it grows fine in soil too based on pictures I’ve seen.

      Little Leaf SF Wow, thank you so much for the information. That’s so kind of you. I’m learning a lot here. So grateful. Btw, do you still fertilize them during the winter but at a less frequent rate or did you stop completely?

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vanessaj9596 For the organic Espoma, I think I still fertilized once in a while (maybe once a month?) but less in the winter because it's such a weak fertilizer (NPK 2-2-2) and my plants were still growing. I don't have an official recommendation though since I haven't done enough research. For this upcoming winter, my plants have the Osmocote fertilizer pellets (NPK 15-9-12) which is stronger but slowly releases for 6 months, it will go through winter since I added the pellets little later during the growing season (June) vs. earlier like March so we'll see how it goes.

    Oh, wow! This is amazing--the flowers are gorgeous and I love the trellis! How long do the blooms tend to last on hoyas?

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I like how the trellis displays the flowers well vs. having to look up if it was in hanging basket. For length of blooms, I think it depends on the type of hoya (I heard some last only one day). I’ll have to count the days for this one since I’m curious too but I think the last Hoyas that bloomed had flowers for maybe 1-2 weeks? I’ll need to keep track the next time they bloom 🙂.

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Reporting back 😊 For the length of these flowers, they seem to look their prettiest a little over 1 week and then they started declining (bright red centers looking darker red and dull). At the two week mark they are pretty much dying and a couple are starting to fall off but a good amount are still intact (but dull looking/dying).

    • @AddyBeez
      @AddyBeez 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LittleLeafSF That is a lot longer than I would have thought! I still don't have any hoyas but that is so tempting to think about, especially because I hear that some of their blooms smell amazing. Thanks so much for reporting back, so appreciated! 😊

    It’s beautiful. Mine is blooming too but yours seems to have grown a lot of new stems. Did you propagate at all?

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Awesome yours is blooming as well! Hadn’t thought of it before but each Hoya must have their own blooming seasons just like other flowers 🙂. I haven’t propagated yet. I looked and counted 5 main branches on the bottom (originally it looked to have two) so it seems like it’s branching to different stems off of others even though I’m not chopping it which is a pleasant surprise.

    How do you grow this in moss? I keep trying to grow it in soil and have had no luck :(

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's in a north facing window in a terra cotta pot and I water it when the moss is almost dry. Is yours a smaller plant? If so, putting it in a greenhouse environment like a plastic bag or a clear box would help it establish (airing it out every few days maybe so it gets some air flow).

    Do you have a hole in your humidity bag? If not, do you take it off to let it breathe? Thank you!

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      heikki Hi! I don’t think that one did (sometimes in plastic packaging they put a couple hole puncher sized ones). Yes I would take it off occasionally to let it breathe depending on how much humidity built up if I misted the sides of the bag with water. It’s probably not necessary if your house isn’t crazy dry but helps with growth I think. It’s not in a bag moving forward and there is some new growth since. Thanks!

    Are the leaves a little softer than other Hoya leaves?

    • @LittleLeafSF
      @LittleLeafSF  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are so many different Hoyas so not sure which ones you're thinking of but softer and more pliable than like a obovata or even a carnosa.
