With the 2025 RDX coming out soon with a potential refresh for the entire vehicle, we're going to be looking at the 2024-2023 version of this and seeing if it's still going to be worth your buy with that new version coming out. My name's Jason and you're watching God in X. Now to start out with the Acura, we're going to be looking at what is under the hood here with this 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This creates 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It's a pretty solid engine. It doesn't feel too laggy in a car this big, and I do think that Acura has a solid option in here. Nothing really crazy to worry about, nothing to write home about either, but it does the job almost perfectly. Now we're going to start with some of the exterior stylings with this as well. If you look at the Acura, I think it looks pretty good. It stands out as a little bit more of a sporty SUV, and I do like it overall. I think the logo here in the front and center being so big and prominent is a great addition, as well as I love the Acura headlights with the little Acura branding on the inside here. I think it just looks really good overall. I kind of love the large grille space, but now if we're going to move on to the side of the vehicle, we can come over here, and there isn't too much going on here. First, you have these black alloy rims, which I think look very nice. You have the A-spec badge here, which is going to be the trim level for this one in particular, but it's a pretty standard profiling. Now if we move to the back, I really do like the taillights, but we're going to talk about cargo space because that is where it really does matter. This is an automatic opening trunk, and on the inside here, it is quite spacious. You can put both seats down to have a little bit extra room, but as it stands, the RDX is a pretty spacious and pretty well-off compact SUV, and I really do like it overall. It is a nice, concise look. It looks good, it looks sporty, it looks fun. Now let's take a look on the inside, and we can talk a little bit more about what's going on in there. Now on the inside of the Acura, I'm going to be completely honest here, this is funky. If you look just right here at the overall dash, it is going to be a weird and jarring change. The shifter is in a weird position. It's not really a shifter, it's buttons and weird angles. If you want to go in reverse, you flick back. If you want to go forward and drive, you push in. It's a very weird system, and I'm not a fan of it. Above that, you're going to have your drive mode selector, which has some cool animations play on the screen, but overall, it's just kind of a weird place to put it. I feel like it is way too pronounced. It looks like I should press that to start the engine, not the actual push to start, but it is what it is when it comes to that. Your climate controls are all buttons, and they're right here, and this one comes with cool in-heated seats being a lovely little feature on top of that. But now let's move to the infotainment screen, because this is where things get a little bit touchy, and I actually mean the opposite of touchy, because you can't physically touch this infotainment screen. This is not a touchscreen. You are instead given this touchpad here that it's like a mouse on a trackpad. You kind of move it around. Wherever you touch on the trackpad touches where you're going to be touching on the screen. You can move and whatnot, and it's a little bit funky. I'm not a fan of it personally. I think it's a little bit lackluster. On the side, you also have some hotkeys that you're allowed to scroll through with the, I guess, touchpad on the side. It makes a little noise, and it's just a little funky to me. I don't know. Me, personally, not that big on this infotainment screen. If you're going to get used to it, and you're going to like it, by all means, good on you. But I like having the options. I feel like if I'm having a hard day, and I'm sick and tired of my touchpad being finicky, I want to touch the screen. But I like having the option. But personally, I prefer a dial or something along those lines. You have a good bit of storage space here as well. It's not necessarily too crazy, but you have two different compartments, and it's a little bit nice. But underneath here, you're going to have a wireless charger, which is also a weird little location for it to be. This right here, it just opens up, and it just feels a little bit odd. The last thing I'm not really necessarily going to be the fan of is going to be this gauge cluster. It's not fully digital. It is still one of the hybrids, and it's not a really interactive one. There's not much you can do with it. There's not much customization. There's not that many screens that feel too good to scroll through. It's just basic. It gets the job done. Moving on to things I do like, though, is going to be the materials inside this car. This is a nice mix between luxury and affordability, and I really like it. Seats are genuinely super comfortable. I was kind of shocked. I didn't expect them to be this nice. You have hard material. You have soft material. You have leather or pseudo leather, whatever they put in here throughout the car, and it looks really good. The speakers on top of that sound really good as well. I think just overall, it's kind of that weird little middle ground where I don't hate it. I don't love it. It just does its job. If you look at it and you go, I think I could drive something like this, then it might be the perfect option for you, but as of right now for me, it's just not pronounced enough. It's not fully decided on what it wants to be, and I can't decide on either. Maybe the driving portion will help us figure this out, so let's go right into that. Now, getting behind the wheel of this car, it's not necessarily my favorite. I do think the driving experience is a little bit clunkier. You feel a lot heavier in this car than I feel like you should. It kind of swings a little bit too much. There's so much motion side to side, and that really is a big deterrent for me when it comes to something like this. I feel like you want to feel less like you're on water and more like you're just in your car like some of these other brands that just do really, really good on that, but the acceleration itself is pretty solid. I think the engine holds up here. This is zero complaints. I will say though, when you put it into sport mode with the drive mode selector, it kind of feels like it gets worse. I feel like this wasn't a vehicle designed for sport mode, and there's nothing wrong with that. I think it's a great daily driver that you can do a lot with, but it's not necessarily going to push the boundaries of speed and performance and just overall fun. It's a pretty solid and smooth driving. Everything is responsive. The only big complaint is that it feels a bit clunkier. I feel like if you can get past that, this is a great and solid option. There are so many creature comforts here as well that will make you feel good on top of that. Just overall, it's a comfortable place to be. It's a good car. It drives well, but it's nothing special. I think that's where it kind of ends up. If you guys like this car, please let us know in the comments down below. I think it's a solid option. It's just not going to be my first choice ever. The '25 is a minor refresh. It already looks outdated
No. It’s behind all the competition
