He has charisma but if that's what you want sure. But helping is the wrong word. If someone comes to him for self defense and he feeds them bullshit. He's not helping but scamming
Kung Fu & Tai Chi Center w/ Jake Mace. You're a disgrace to real martial artists everywhere! Quit teaching your fake skills to people for Gods sake. You're going to get some naive person hurt or killed in a real street fight with this horse manure! No Real martial artist would ever endorse this crap. You're just a con artist praying on the ignorance of young people for your own personal gain!
Keep going strong Erik. As a martial artist myself (Tae Kwon Do), I can tell you that the first few lessons are always the hardest. It won't ever get easy, but it will get more and more doable. Stick with it, I've been doing it for 8 years and though it is tough, and even grueling at times, it is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I'm looking forward to watching you progress and I wish you the best. This is a great opportunity. Make sure you take full advantage of it.
Kung fu is the natural motion of the body very hard if u don't normally do the motion , so retraining so his body can adapt , people r at different levels an categories.
tell him to lift the knee on the outside snap kick, it reduces the slopp/unballencing. for a newbie concepts are more important than immediate results.
OH my god, dude I would LOVE to have jake as a teacher. I'm loving this series so far and I believe he has the spirit to follow through to the end, GOOD LUCK MAN!!
Jake, I really appreciate your videos. I was glad to find your practical, sincere, no BS instruction online. I did Kung Fu as a young man but have been out of practice for years. Searching far and wide online for legit materials has been tough- there's a sea of nonsense out there. I love that you remind folks of the body and soul connection in Kung Fu while most others are trying to teach "use this in MMA." Keep up the awesome work!
Keep up the hard work Eric. You will get better in your stances and flexibility. Don't give up or listen to all the doubters and haters. Use your engery like water, flow like water, be like water my friend. Jake turn this kid into a fighting. machine.
This student is amazing. You can see he has strength and good flexibility. He follows directions well. Rough training you put him through..but he did it! Good for him! Nice instruction..friendly, confidant, and informative.
This was such a great thing to watch. I feel like im going to throw up every time i over exert myself also. I hope this series carried on, im looking forward to it
Jake . . I trained in traditional Shotokan / Aikido / Ninpo tai-jutsu since I was 13, hustled 4 different p/t thru HS, rode my bicycle thru rain, sleet or snow to HS, home to prep dinners I NEVER got to eat, then off the the dojo, THEN work afterwards until 11 or midnight, thru rain, sleet or snow & got thru HS on 4-5 hours sleep per night. OK, summer was more hours worked & a bit more sleep, but I had to pay for class-tuition, uniforms, tests, weapons, food, dental, medical, contacts, guitar lessons, clothing and bike tires 3+x yearly. My HS prom night, I taught / assisted the tail-end of a 90 minute children's class (my warm up), did the 90 minute 6pm class, then rode off to 7-11 to work until 1am, turning down beer sales to my HS classmates. Long Island winter snowstorms were RARE: NOT to have a good 2-footer at least once, and I showed up for a 6pm adult class on my 10-speed during a 2-footer, ZERO adults showed in their cars & I got a "private lesson" with my sensei, then he took me out for dinner afterwards . . At 16 y/old. as a brown belt, I taught adult classes with several black belts as "students", when my sensei got caught up in traffic, picking up his classmates from the airport. So, I guess you can say, I've "been around the block", a few times. WHAT you did to this beginner VICTIM: June 14, 2017, (student is a real stretch, because UNLESS he is your brother-in-law & he'll be "back for more freebies", I'd be SHOCKED to see this guy return for more humiliation & exploitation from you), was NOTHING short of mocking his lack of stamina / fitness and self aggrandizing your innate athletic ability. Because: THAT is ALL you did, in this video. Which is KIND of like a sociopath. Gee, did you "set the stage" by suggesting he down a hefty breakfast, before you did a 40+ minute abdominal-crush routine on him?? Do YOU have any recollection of your first weeks or month of training?? Do you give ANY thought to a moderate warm-up, progressing into a feel-out-your-student's agility, before jumping into a stress test? I saw an EASY dozen opportunities for YOU to suggest / correct his breathing patterns, where YOU clearly exhaled during an exertion, then smirked & smiled as he held his breath during each kick, punch or torsional twist . . And that sociopathic SMIRK got even bigger, when he paused to hold down his vomit. And you showed complete INDIFFERENCE when he BEGAN to puke. Even a gay-boy-lover would hold his head while vomiting, after he'd mouth raped his throat. But YOU, Jake . . you made him VOMIT, then gloated & titled the video how "he wanted to fight . . I made him vomit". Class fucking act. You know what they say?? "Those that CAN fight, DO". I walked away from 3X 3-on-1 fights before I was 11, BEFORE I could start working to pay for Budo instruction, 6 nights weekly. "Those that CAN'T fight, teach" . . which is a REAL stretch in YOUR case, since IF you were a half-assed DECENT sifu, you'd have 1 or more successful schools, and a few hundred loyal students. But INSTEAD . . You flash your psychopath colors & post videos of how athletic you are, and crush any/all potential beginner-students, by monetizing their 1st day attempts. Master Ken's Private Parts offers BETTER instruction on YT, than you. I'd have wiped your snot off the mats, when I was 15 as a purple belt. Try speeding up your video feeds, it'll make you appear more . . adept. ;)
Erik I trained in 3 martial arts for years almost full time at your age in the beginning you feel like its impossible but if you break through the pain barrier and embrace it you will eventually be able to do anything I am getting on to 50 now and because of all my training and hard knocks over the years even guys half my age I can still run to the ground keep it up Erik its all worth it in the end
This is so cool! I wish you all the strength of will and dedication to complete this challenge. I know how tough it is! It's really worth the pain though!
amazing trainer and amazing student, i cant wait to see part 2. pd: im from Argentina and your channel its motivating me to begin to train martial arts, love your tutorials.
If you think about it him puking is his bodies way of getting on the right path to being stronger. I think he is an inspiration I hope he keeps it up!!
I used to watch Jake Mace for tips on my martial arts and now I watch Jake Mace for tips on my teaching. Really cool series can't wait for new episode!
It's eerie how this mirrors my first lesson. We were at a park, did all the same things in almost exact order, made the same mistakes, corrected them the same way. The awkwardness of the students form and the relaxed attitude and personality of the teacher. The vomit. Only differences were we did the fist push-ups on this grayish rocky sand and the stomach punches where right to the gut knocking the wind out of me lol. Just have to blow out air right as he hits you and you're fine. Man that was tough. This inspires me to get back into the Kung fu!
Hey great stuff, I watched and followed the entire thing. It felt like a good routine to be in shape for a type of kagura (Japanese theater) I'm doing. You're a good teacher and the practice is fun. Cheers!
Looking forward to seeing the difference in 90 days! Don't worry about the puking. Jake can tell you how to avoid it in the future. Everybody gets to be new at least once! Keep it up!
