Guido, from an old Army Helicopter Instructor Pilot, I truly enjoy watching you help the "pilot on the controls" feeding him the necessary data that helps him to not only fly the aircraft, but keeps him ahead of the aircraft. All your videos deserve an A+ for your cockpit crew coordination! I never stop learning with you...even with my lowly 4000 hours of huey time.
Thank you very much! I know very little about helicopters but what I hear is that you guys really have to work to fly stabilized in these machines... Training / mentoring is a special task, not easy but very rewarding. I had excellent mentoring for myself as well in Canada, South Africa and the US. Thanks for your kind words. With your 4,000h Huey time you are hovering in the top 10% of all heli pilots? Merry Christmas, Happy Landings & thanks for your service! Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal (unless there are any restrictions because of your service in the Army) Thank you!
I'm trying to start my instrument rating but in the meantime I'm learning a lot from your videos Mr. Warnecke! Thanks for being such a diligent source and exemplary pilot to the next generation! Fly safe!
Thank you! Makes me very happy to see that the videos are not only entertaining and that they are somewhat educational. All the best for your instrument rating. You are doing the right thing. It makes you a better, safer pilot. Might be a bit fuzzy and complicated at the beginning, but once you start using the IFR system you will see how easy it is. Happy Landings, Guido
Former student here with 17 old hours logged. Watching your channel makes me want to get into it again. Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you and your family, Guido. Thanks for the videos - William
I appreciate that you include the plate to follow along (I made a still capture of that frame so I could look at it side by side with the video) as an IFR student, I find your videos very helpful!
Thank you! On some flight simulator web sites you may find the full approach plate to print out. Best of luck for your instrument training. Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Thank you very much, Matt. In fact today I just got a new video ready, an approach into Reykjavik, Iceland... So please stay tuned. it will be uploaded today. Thanks for watching my videos &happy landings, guido
I have my PPL and am in college now. All I can think about is flying for living. Your videos encourage me and keep me motivated as I wrap up finals. You are really professional and I learn a lot watching these. Thanks and a merry Christmas to you.
Thank you! This is really good and motivational for me. All the best for your future flying career - whatever this might be. Happy Holidays and Happy landings, Guido
I instruct at KFXE in FL. Working toward my ATP. Excited to get to the right seat of something like a citation. Do you plug your gopro directly to you headset line?
I work at a flight school in New Jersey that pushes the idea of professionalism above all else. You Guido, set that bar even higher! Nice work as always. Happy Holidays.
Thank you Joshua. We all should strive for professionalism in flying, at least as much as we can. Thanks for being a loyal viewer of my videos. Happy Holidays & Happy landings, Guido
Guido, I just obtained my multi-engine and multi instrument ratings. I like to study your videos before I fly and used them to help me be a more professional pilot. They are very helpful. Thank you
Once when I was flying as a flight attendant (my job since spring til end of summer) on a ferry flight, captain asked me, if I want to handle the communications. As my part time job is Traffic advisory in private international airport, I am kinda used to use english for communication (despite not having IR english rating), but as we were flying above Greece and this sort of countries I couldn´t understand any single word! Flying above these countries is a huge experience even for very skilled pilots. Balkanian, Egyptian ATCs are really crazy thanks to their way of pronunciation. As you may have guessed, I had to refuse the captains offer. Thanks for another great eduactional video and happy landings Petr
Thank you! Yes Geneva is on the itinerary in summer. Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Yes, this is quite interesting. Although it should all be the same, there are significant differences in ATC. I keep it simple: if I do not understand 100% what the controller told me - I ask. Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Guido Warnecke well, no prob at all, my name is Jacopo and I'm from northern Italy. And yes, asking for a clearence to be repeated is like going around. Is not a "crime", is what a good pilot (like you) should do!! Just wondering, was this a ferry/training flight towards Doha after selling the plane from the U.S.?? Jacopo
well, i'll probably be in Oxford for a while by semptember or so, but in the case you take a break in Milan in one of your European trips let me know so we can arrange to meet and eventually rent a small one to go flying (lakes area, take a look, it's really nice)
Hi Guido. I've been enjoying your videos for many months and now here you are landing at my airport! I'm a controller at Cambridge (it wasn't me in this video!). If you are here again please let me know or ask for me at the tower as I'd love to buy you a coffee.
Thank you very much, Neil! Very friendly controllers at EGSC. I will take you up for that coffee when we are next time at Cambridge. I thought you drink only tea... Happy Landings, Guido
I like your videos Mr. Warnecke. thank you for making them. I got a Sporty's DVD learn to fly set for Christmas and will take my practice test next week. If I pass it my Dad said that I can go to Oshkosh this year.. I watch your videos to learn more. Thanks again and have a happy new year.
Thank you Dylan. Work hard and get the PPL done! Oshkosh is the best thing a pilot can do! Happy Landings, Guido Here a video of a landing at KOSH: Landing Oshkosh during EAA AirVenture 2013!

Fantastic video sir. I learn a lot from them. Hoping to earn my private pilot license in the not so distant future. Blue skies and safe landings to you.

Another nice clear video.....everything looks so straight foreward and easy!!! But that is down to years of flying experience I would imagine? Very nice. I am just starting out on my flying lessons in a PA28 Warrior.....age 52 (my age not the plane!!) please keep posting these videos they are interesting and informative. Thank you and Happy Safe Flying for 2014....cheers.
Great video! You're a great pilot, it have to be really wonderful to fly this way... I think big jet perhaps are a bit boring to fly, but ho have the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of a small bussiness jet is my dream... Happy Christmas and happy landings Guido!
Thank you very much, Guiseppe! I have not flown for the airlines, only for business jets. Merry Christmas & ll the best in the New Year! Happy Landings, Guido
@GuidoWarnecke would love to see you land EGBB.. Crosswinds generally from the west approaching 33, and a bit of an up-and- down surface. Seen some interesting cross wind landings by airliners.. Lol.. This was an interesting video (as ever), thanks for uploading! I start PPL+NR this summer! Wish me luck.....
I have been watching your videos quite a while now and they are very nice. Like it you add explanations this makes me learn many things from it:) Viele Grüße und frohe Weihnachten aus Deutschland!
Thank you very much! Merry Christmas to you too. Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Yes, sir! I agree. I'm always logged into this account on the mobile, so I apologize for the anonymity. It's my electronics repair/Musician "stage" name. ;) The name's Jon Jacobs. Once again, thank you for the time and effort to bring us inspiring footage. Best Regards, Jon
Merry Christmas from Ohio Guido, Thanks for all the videos they are very clear and informative! You said the auto pilot was on but it appeared the pilot was manipulating the yoke, or was he just keeping his hands on the yoke as the auto pilot flew? Mike
I'm wondering why the reversers didn't deploy until late in the landing roll. I don't expect you to reply to every comment Guido. You've got 162 videos! It's amazing 6,303 views already; you just uploaded this 3 days ago! Blue skies, David (Iowa, USA)
Hi David, we had an intermittent problems with the T/R's and the delayed deployment was intentional. T/R's are not considered in the landing distance numbers, so this is not a safety issue. Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings, Guido
Guido Warnecke What type of video equipment do you have setup for your recording? I believe it is digital as I can see hertz cycle mismatch with the digital displays. Are you using a "GoPro" or something more or less sophisticated? Thank you. Rodney
Just curious . . . what causes the whine sound inside the cabin? As a soldier in the Army we would sometimes be shuttled via C-130 to drop zones. We used shooters plugs as ear protection from the noise. Is it the turbines or something else?
Another great video, sir - Vielen Dank! Very clear and informative. I'm currently hesitating and stumbling over my RT calls as I make my way towards my PPL in Cornwall! Perhaps you have some advice for me?
Thank you Michael. What I found helpful was to buy a air radio receiver and listen nearby an airport. Also on the web you find sites under "live ATC". Happy landings, Guido
Guido, a few questions, at 6:40 what is that the pilot do, is it a manual trim or sort of? also in the approach plate you showed i didn't see the CAM VOR, i saw what looks like the NDB CAM which is also the IAF, and what was your outbound turn 060 or 062? , i believe 062 right due to your type of aircraft, it was nice to see the full approach like this one, and these controllers are very polite and sound like human being talking ...
Hi Marcelo, yes it is a manual trim. The preferred procedure is to use the electric trim on the yoke. About the CAM: I made a typing error here and you are right - it is an NDB! The different outbound turns have a simple reason: the faster you aircraft flies, the more space do you need to do the inbound turn to intercept the localizer (without exceeding a bank angle). So we used the 062 outbound track. Thanks for your comment and for watching my videos in such detail. Happy Landings, Guido
Thank you very much. Happy landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
It is only my greatest pleasure! Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Hello Guido, can you explain the little chuckle at the end of the video? It sounds like you say "going to marshall", but I cannot understand the reply from ATC. Thanks!
,your welcome my friend i enjoy your videos and I live facing Cambridge city airport and enjoy watching the citation jets I wish you all the best thankyou
I've been following you for quite a while now and must say: Keep your videos coming! As a fresh flight instructor (PPL) and also ATPL Student - one question about the engine anti ice: Is the "below 10°C"-rule a general rule or aircraft/engine specific? And what other factors are of importance? As far as I've learned the spread is important as well - I can't recall the exact figure, but I think it was somewhere around 7 - if spread < 7, then engine anti ice is required as well (due to the high velocity at the intake and resulting drop in static pressure / temperature just before the diffusor) - can you confirm this? Greetings from germany and merry christmas! Johann
That is correct. Drop in static pressure lowers the temperature. You also need a "buffer" because pilots may forget to switch anti-ice on. All the best for your ATPL! Happy Landings, Guido
Other than QNH, what other terminology differences are there? In the last year, the US has changed from "position and hold" to "line up and wait" which the rest of the world uses. I don't hear the expression CAVOK on US ATC like I did in Australia, but are there others?
There should be very little differences "officially" as this is regulated by the ICAO. But there are local differences. If in doubt - I ask. Happy landings, Guido
Thank you! Most of the flights will be out of Europe now. Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Have always wondered, it is permissible to shorten the callsign to, say, Kilo-Alpha in order to expedite communications? ATC would have to accept to avoid clashes but is there actual phraseology for this? PS: Did the TRs fail to deploy?
Hi Max, ICAO rules allow to abbreviate the call sign after initial contact is established. Usually the first letter and the last two. A7-AKA becomes "AKA". In South Africa it is different, a ZS-AVB becomes a "AVB", onle the last three letters. If more than one aircraft with similar call sign is on the radio, ATC will make the pilot aware or may request to use full call sign. Like in any radio communication 100% understanding is essential. If not - ask! Happy Landings, Guido
Thank you very much! I do flight within Europe as well now. Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Thanks Guido and great video once again! Great to see some UK airports. I assume this was on your return leg or did the plane stay in the UK? Frohe Weinachten to you and best wishes for 2014. Regards Christian
Hi Ahmed, on an arc, you basically fly a circle with a constant distance to a beacon of a fix. Have a look here: pilotbrad.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/ifr-lesson-11-dme-arcs/ On a procedure turn. you fly a track outbound and then you turn around, towards the final approach path. Happy Landings, Guido
Geniale Videos!
Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Alles Gute und Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Richard, this is personal preference. You see this quire often in airline pilots, especially in South America and the Middle East. Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays! Happy Landings, Guido
I have never flown for an airline, I fly for private individuals. Happy Landings, Guido PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Personal preference. It was actually quite common to wear gloves while driving and flying. We still refer to a "glove compartment:" in cars. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

In fact it IS straight forward and easy.
Great that you you have started your flying lessons - best of luck!

Thank you very much, Ross.
Best of luck for your PPL and blue skies.
Happy Landings,

Yes, sir! I agree. I'm always logged into this account on the mobile, so I apologize for the anonymity. It's my electronics repair/Musician "stage" name. ;) The name's Jon Jacobs. Once again, thank you for the time and effort to bring us inspiring footage.
Best Regards,
Jon
Thank you very much, Jon.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Merry Christmas from Ohio Guido,
Thanks for all the videos they are very clear and informative!
Hi David,
we had an intermittent problems with the T/R's and the delayed deployment was intentional. T/R's are not considered in the landing distance numbers, so this is not a safety issue.
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
Guido
Guido,
Love your videos and teaching methods. Very professional and well done. What happened to the HD on this one? It only went to 360p.
Thank you!
Give it some time - it should go up to 1080p while TH-cam is processing it.
Happy Holidays and Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido Warnecke What type of video equipment do you have setup for your recording? I believe it is digital as I can see hertz cycle mismatch with the digital displays. Are you using a "GoPro" or something more or less sophisticated? Thank you. Rodney
Wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New 2014, Captain :)
Thank you, Conny!
Merry Christmas to you too.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Congratulations.good aproach and nice landing ,Eres bueno.
Thank you very much, Jaime!

Thanks again for another great ride. You are the guy we'd all love to learn from. Happy New Year 2014!
Thanks for you kind words, Richard.
All the best in 2014 for you too.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Happy landings,
Guido
thanks for uploading!
Only my pleasure, Marc.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Excellent,thank you very enjoyable!
You are very welcome!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Nice video Guido!
Thank you Joy!
All the best in 2014 & Happy Landings,

Guido, a few questions, at 6:40 what is that the pilot do, is it a manual trim or sort of?
also in the approach plate you showed i didn't see the CAM VOR, i saw what looks like the NDB CAM which is also the IAF, and what was your outbound turn 060 or 062? , i believe 062 right due to your type of aircraft, it was nice to see the full approach like this one, and these controllers are very polite and sound like human being talking ...
Hi Marcelo,
yes it is a manual trim.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Ein schöner Flug mit weicher Landung :-)

Once again, a wonderful video.
What country is your accent from?
+Ben Ryan i am German.
happy landings,
Guido
Hello Guido, can you explain the little chuckle at the end of the video? It sounds like you say "going to marshall", but I cannot understand the reply from ATC. Thanks!
Thank you Russell.
Can't really remember what the little chuckle was about - but likely the British weather...
Happy Landings,
Guido
merry xmas! thanks !
Thank you! Love your videos!
Thank you, Vito.
Merry Christmas & Happy Landings,
Guido
Merry Christmas and fly safely!
Thank you so much for making and sharing these interesting videos! Can you tell us something about your co-pilot?
Do you mean the pilot in the right or left seat?
Happy landings,
Guido

,your welcome my friend i enjoy your videos and I live facing Cambridge city airport and enjoy watching the citation jets I wish you all the best thankyou
Happy Landings,
Guido
Other than QNH, what other terminology differences are there? In the last year, the US has changed from "position and hold" to "line up and wait" which the rest of the world uses. I don't hear the expression CAVOK on US ATC like I did in Australia, but are there others?
There should be very little differences "officially" as this is regulated by the ICAO. But there are local differences. If in doubt - I ask.
Happy landings,
Guido
Always love the videos, very entertaining and informing! Are you still flying out of the NY area (DXR)?
Thank you!
Most of the flights will be out of Europe now.
Happy Landings,
Guido

Have always wondered, it is permissible to shorten the callsign to, say, Kilo-Alpha in order to expedite communications? ATC would have to accept to avoid clashes but is there actual phraseology for this?
PS: Did the TRs fail to deploy?
Hi Max,
ICAO rules allow to abbreviate the call sign after initial contact is established.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Nice video as usual.Very informative. Did you relocate to Europe Guido?
Thanks Filip
Thank you Filip.
It is a new assignment, details later.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Outstanding!
Thank you!
All the best for the New year & Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido Warnecke And to you as well!
Amazing video Guido! I didnt think you flew outside of the US. Where did this flight originate? I see this is not the same Citation you usually fly.
Thank you very much!
I do flight within Europe as well now.
Happy Landings,
Guido

Thanks Guido and great video once again! Great to see some UK airports. I assume this was on your return leg or did the plane stay in the UK? Frohe Weinachten to you and best wishes for 2014. Regards Christian
Thank you Christian.
We fly between Europe and Middle East quite a lot.
Merry Christmas!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Hi Captain . its little confusing for me .
what the different between the Arc and Procedure Turns ?
Hi Ahmed,
on an arc, you basically fly a circle with a constant distance to a beacon of a fix.
Have a look here:
pilotbrad.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/ifr-lesson-11-dme-arcs/
On a procedure turn. you fly a track outbound and then you turn around, towards the final approach path.
Happy Landings,
Guido
what is more fun to fly for you? the king air or the citation ? :-)
Hi Samath,
I can't really answer this. I like to be in the air!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Fantastic.
Thank you very much Peter!
All the best for the New Year & Happy Landings,
Guido
Geniale Videos!
Happy Landings,
Guido
PS: although I understand and respect the anonymity of the web, I would appreciate if you could write your comment with your clear name - it's just more personal. Thank you!
Guido

On second thought, I probably viewed it too soon before it had a chance to compile the HD versions.
Good!
What's with the white gloves? Is he a mime outside the cockpit????
Richard, this is personal preference. You see this quire often in airline pilots, especially in South America and the Middle East.
Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Are you sitting on right side or left side ?
Hello Göktuğ,
I am on the left side.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido Warnecke Guido, I think you mean right?
England my home
For which Airline are You flying?
I have never flown for an airline, I fly for private individuals.
Happy Landings,
Guido

Philip Blechmann
Go for it, Philip!
Happy landings,
Guido
Hello Guido. I sent you a message through LinkedIn. Unfortunately, they will not allow me to embed an email address. Have a great Christmas.
Same to you - thanks!
why does the co-pilot wear latex gloves?
Hi David,
these are leather gloves.
Just personal preference.,
Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido......the name is Brian
Thank you, Brian!
Why is this pilot wearing white gloves?
Personal preference.
It was actually quite common to wear gloves while driving and flying. We still refer to a "glove compartment:" in cars.
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido
Why does he use gloves?
Hi Lucas,
just personal preference.
A lot of pilots - especially in the airlines - use gloves.
Happy Landings,
Guido
We don't say Wet Wet Wet, Just British ;) Great approach!
