Just about everything is wrong with this title! Apart from the first few seconds this shows tests of the A5 rocket. It is NOT at Peenemunde but an island called Grafswalder Oie which is off the same coast. The first test rockets did not have consecutive numbers and the A5 came 2 years before the A4 (V2). The give away - apart from knowing what I am talking about - is the light house which still stands on the island. Werner Von Braun was very much involved in these tests of course. The island still has all the concrete roads and cable ducts that were used to connect one end with the other installed in 1936 onwards. The winds on the island also made the designers of Peenemunde insist on the elliptical earthwork round Prufstand VII as it was often impossible to launch when the wind was blowing the slow starting speed test rockets. See the book The Birth of the Missile by Hand Klee and Otto Merk. Also another video on here correctly titled the The A-5 prototype of the V2.

Finally some new video ( at least rare) about V2, on TH-cam. Very interesting !

Interesting footage. The correct title should be: _Operation Lighthouse_ -- launches of small scale test rockets A3 and A5 from _Greifswalder Oie_ in 1937 and 1938. This work had _eventually_ led to the development of the much larger A4 rocket, also known as V2.

I believe this is the early version of the V-2 called the A-4. A smaller scale for testing. They seemed to be able to even get the parachute to open slowly so as not to rip apart at high speed. Pretty amazing.

Definitiv A5 Raketen auf der Greifswalder Oie. Aber trotzdem schön zu sehen.

Is that an embarrassed Von Braun quietly leaving the scene, just as he notices a cameraman framing him, at the time of 1:52?

The point is that the Germans were good engineers & in this military program they gain certain experiences & in due time found practical capable solutions to the problems with others words they originated the v1 v2 business .

Early versions of Revenge Weapon 2. V1 was the doodlebug. V2 was the rocket. V3 was the low pressure long range cannon, which never worked. It kept blowing apart. Isn't it odd that they built flying bombs and rocket bombs, yet, for the most part, they never had sound on their films?
