    It’s crazy that you’ve been on this job for one day and it looks considerably better , all the cuts are pulled so much sharper and everything just looks more uniform. Chris , I know the bad weather hits you in the wallet but maybe you can take a day or two off and share a order of tater rounds with Winston?

    Yeah so far south like Sarasota Port Charlotte Fort Myers they got whacked north of their Tampa Bay north we got so far we haven't only gotten you know rain and Squall lines come through but in our power still on so far it's not like Irma we didn't have no 50 ft trees go flying by the air or power out for 3 weeks but I'd say we got pretty close to 8 inches of rain and we're supposed to get anywhere from 15 to 24 in this area well we're sending it North through you guys you can spend some time with IAN. We've also heard there's five to six feet of water in Fort Myers town yeah Tampa Bay was drained mud flats the water got all pushed out again like the that one other hurricane it's a real odd thing to see

    • @myk55501
      @myk55501 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah our power went off about an hour ago and are Transformer blew up so hopefully it's not 3 weeks this time to get our power back on at least it's cool out it's not that not that hot but later on the day since that storm pulls out the humidity and the heat will come back that'll be fun I hear people in Fort Myers the water came up almost three stories high where Tampa Bay and up here at Hudson the water left the high and dry out as far as you can see 40 ft depth water it's down to Mud now later on when the storm passes over by East Coast to water will come back but that's an odd thing I'll tell you almost like a tidal wave type of thing where the water goes out and then comes back in

    Hey Chris, I've been watching a long time now. I moved to 200 acres earlier this year and I'm having 160 cleared. I've got a lot of white oak stumps to get rid of now and land to clear as the loggers don't exactly leave "cleared" land. What size excavator would you recommend? 200 or 300 or as much as I can afford? The pine stumps won't be an issue. It's the Oak stumps that are going to be a challenge. I appreciate any knowledge you can convey.

  • @hj8607
    @hj8607 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As nice as a large pond of fresh water is WHY is so LITTLE put into the aesthetics .
    They always look anything but natural . Nothing but round or rectangular and usually void of any landscaping of trees (and irregular in shape) etc,
    Considering the base expense to JUST put in a hole with water WHY not spend 15-20% more and make it attractive/natural ??

    • @lt1nut
      @lt1nut 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that we need to keep in mind that residential landscaping is often done by the homeowner over time as a home improvement "hobby" and due to expense. I wouldn't know where to start on designing or figuring out where to plant what species of tree (how far from the shoreline) and more so what to do with the dam if grass wasn't acceptable (bush/shrub/ground cover). I do know that stuff down there is different and grows much faster than up here in Wisconsin (and then there's that damned Kudzu vine/weed that like to take over and kill everything) but imagine that it still takes years to look natural or "right".
      I agree on the initial shape of the ponds but "mimicking nature" is probably more expensive to construct (and maintain) due to the longer (linear feet, length) shoreline but yields a smaller (surface are) pond.
      Customer: "So it would cost me more and be smaller?😯🤔🙄"

      My opinion is unimportant but my idea is that it’s better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it

    I'm near Daytona Beach, Florida. They are saying that I could get a foot of rain in the next 24 hours. That would fill all the ponds you built this year!

    One day , perhaps in the winter when it is too wet to move dirt, it would be nice to see all the ponds you created in the last year or so in their finished state and full of water. Perhaps if you have recordings of the sites before work started it would be very interesting to see ' before and after'. Also to hear from you about soil/dirt qualities you require to make pond or lakes containment reasonably water tight and the grading of materials/dirt for berms, banks and pond/reservoir floors. Shortage of clay in some parts of the UK obliges farmers to use butyl sheeting to line artificial irrigation lakes in an area which may not have more that 12 ins of rain annually yet expects good yields from potatoes, sugar beet and some vegetables. Grain/cereal crops are seldom irrigated. Your drone sequences are marvellous for orientation of the larger sites.

    Sometimes others think they know what they are doing end end up in a huge mess - prime example. Will be lovely for owners when all done.

    It’s the tiny fine as hair roots that supply water and nutrients to the tree. These are mostly close to the surface. Smother them and the tree dies. The big deep roots are to anchor and support it.
