    Just wanna say you can do more than just Slash with a dane axe, such as hooking someone’s leg, jabbing someone in the face with with the butt or tip of the handle, stab someone with the tip of the axe after tripping them with the hook of the axe, etc. Very versatile weapon probably 3rd most versatile beaten slightly by poleaxe and longsword. Then again thinking of it now default raider dane axe doesn’t really have the pointed tip like some historical ones.

    I disagree with what you said about the buckler. The buckler was used as a counter tool, and was meant to be used more offensively then a normal shield. While you *could* punch with the buckler, it's not it's primary use though, I'd argue. You'd parry with it, and deflect attacks to create openings.
    Oddly enough, the bucklers that Glad uses are all made of woods, and bucklers historically were completely metal. So, considering this, I think your placement of Glad is appropriate though.
    For Aramusha, I'd say he should be lower. For one, he's dual wielding katanas. Since they're both katana's, they are the same length, meaning that you kinda *can't* present both weapons to your opponent. Not only because you're holding weapons meant for two-handed use with one hand, but because they're of equivalent length, meaning that there is a chance both the blades could get caught on each other. This is mostly the reason why people dueled with Rapiers and Daggers usually instead of two rapiers. (Also you'd have more control over a dagger than a second rapier, and wouldn't get as tired out.)

    • @logeyperogi1805

    • @logeyperogi1805
      @logeyperogi1805 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That point wasn’t a very good point to make for Shaolin because you’re right, they’re probably very willing to kill if their life depended on it, AND THEY’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR, ON A BATTLEFIELD, but the lack of armour alone puts him low tier, not to mention the staff is a decent weapon, but not as good as many of the other weapons used in game

    Shaolin is more based on Son Wukong that's why he has the weighted staff also Shaolin in past went to war they werent always the people we see nowadays
    I know this is only based off default but I purposely make my berserker wear the chainmail and berserker historically weren't the druggies dual wielding they were an elite corp of vikings who had the best gear and probably were the only ones who wore fur over their armor cause their entire power they had was intimidation they would start the fight by biting their shields and roaring like bears to get the adrenaline pumping which is a naturally produced pain killer and in most cases this would work as a fear tactic and to boost the morale of the vikings think of it like as if you're in the military and then the most elite corp started to reinforce you

    Number 1 would have to be lawbro, come on, the dude is an almost 2 meter-tall hunk of steel with a pole-axe, no one can run from the law.
    Number 2 will be the warmonger, because it is the one of the only other heros that has full steel plate armour by defult, and big sword = more damage.
    Number 3 will be the centurion, again, he has full plate armour, but, his weapon is very short and would be better used with a shield, but still, full plate armour has to give him number 3

    Just a thing, as a HEMA practitioner and user of 'sword and buckler' I think you are severely underestimating the buckler here, as in 'it's just a punching weapon'. It is different from the usual concept of protective shield that we have and it is used differently. Not necessarily disagreeing in the big picture, but still.

    • @RavenKnightYT
      @RavenKnightYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a HEMA practitioner too, I've seen a buckler in action. Granted, my specialty is the longsword, but my point about it here is that it doesn't provide necessary defense. Gladiator already is coming into the battle with minimal armor and his buckler does not compensate enough for that to give him effective protection against the weapons of most other For Honor warriors.

    • @GwyndolinSimp
      @GwyndolinSimp 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RavenKnightYT mmmm fair fair. I did say I didn't necessarily disagree in the big picture, and what you have said is what I meant. Agreed.
      On what I was saying about the buckler I was thinking about I:33, on how it uses the sword and shield in conjuction, I think it's the most versatile, granting control over the enemy sword and using the buckler to its full protective potential in my opinion. I'm not a usual sw/bck practitioner though, so don't mind me too much, I do mostly longsword too. It's true that the buckler is too small to use as protection on its own, even more against thrusting weapons.
      Cool to see another HEMA guy talking good stuff. Nice vid by the way, didn't say. Been watching your other stuff.

There were also times in peace but same with war. Some shoalin say that shoalin means war so they are not all peaceful, some will kill for the intention of leading their people and protecting them. The shoalin in for honor I feel like is a incarnation of a war type shoalin. You can see the way that he fights and how weird his armor is. Shoalins armor would be more clean and neat if it was a pacifist I believe but the shoalin in for honor is more torn and more revealing of skin. Shoalin mental state is probably a sign of war as well so that is why I think that it is unfair to say that the shoalin are only pacifists because there were different time periods of peace and war

    I'm not an expert but, I think the trident is an underrated weapon. Considering a spear is one of if not the most effective medieval melee weapon; a trident is a 3 pronged version, making it harder to avoid & doing potentially 3 times more damage per strike. Also it could disarm or pin down most weapons if u catch their weapon between the prongs

    • @RavenKnightYT
      @RavenKnightYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A fair point, and I think I may I have undercut the trident a little, but from my perspective, I’m afraid the trident has a glaring weakness. The center prong is going to get the maximum amount of force behind it because it is directly in front of the shaft from where all the power is coming from. The two side prongs will not have all the direct force behind it. For that reason, when thrusting into a target, the two side prongs will not have the same amount of energy behind them and thus will actually prevent the trident from going as deep as it potentially could. Also, the three prongs make it harder to pull out of the enemy once embedded, and that can leave them exposed.

    Plus aside from the lack of helmet, JJs armour seems alot better, with metal pieces not wooden, and again the reach of the guan dao.

      Even if we remove the pacifist argument, they are still coming into battle with a stick. A staff. And the reason the staff was the weapon of the shaolin was because of its non lethal nature. You can’t say the Shaolin of For Honor is a pacifist because what about the warrior monks of the Shaolin temple in China which the monk in for honor seems to be based off of because him wielding the most iconic Shaolin weapon, the staff and the name? Some of the warrior monks don’t care about the spiritual aspect of Shaolin culture, all they want is to train in kung fu and martial arts.

    • @RavenKnightYT
      @RavenKnightYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ….So the literal Shaolin Buddhist monks rejected the teachings of Buddhism…which teaches to honor life and avoid killing. Okay…then why carry a staff? A specifically non lethal weapon that the monks carried BECAUSE it was less likely to kill? If the monks had to go to war, they would bring bladed weapons. But monks who trained at the temple did more than learn martial arts; they learned the spiritual aspects of Buddhism too…that’s why it’s a monastery and not just a dojo.

    You clearly don't know much about Shaolin monks and more specifically Warrior Monks. During the waring times in China they would most definitely fight to kill. They aren't Aang from ATLA.
    Edit : deleted "don't mean to be disrespectful", cause I really don't care actually.

    • @RavenKnightYT
      @RavenKnightYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1.) Well you may not have meant to be…but you were disrespectful. Not cool dude.
      2.) You are correct that warrior monks did kill in battle in certain engagements. In fact I made a video not long ago bringing up a few of them, so I’ll grant that the passivity is not necessarily a factor.
      3.) But even we remove passivity, the reality is that his weapon and lack of armor STILL leave him on the low tier territory. Even historical warrior monks probably wanted more lethal weapons that a staff for battle, and there is historical evidence of better bladed weapons used by monks in war.
      4.) When did I bring up Aang from ATLA? You’re trying to make me sound dumb here, when all you had to say was “these Shaolin are not based on the modern day Shaolin monks who are more pacifist in nature,” which is a very true and fair criticism. I was thinking more in line with the modern Shaolin teachings, which I studied in my college course on religions. That was my error.
      5.) “No disrespect meant” is just code for “prepare to be disrespected.” You were not wrong, and you could have simply pointed out that one point about the warrior monks. I would have agreed with you. There was no need to insult me.
