- Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is the largest functioning HIndu temple in the world. We stared our day by visiting this temple at 5.30 am, followed by exploring local places to eat and explore food.

Description of the places visited by us on the “Trichy to Madurai” tour
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple - We started our day in the early morning at the South gate of “Shri Ranganathaswamy Temple”, Trichy. This is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu & It’s located in Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli.
The temple architecture is in Dravidian style. This temple spans over an area of 156 acres, which makes it the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world.
After this, we visited a Terrace from which we can see the 21 gopurams of this temple.
Terrace visit Ticket - 50 rs per person
100 rs - If you want to do Photography & Videography
Breakfast near Temple - After this, we traveled 1.5 km from the temple and had our breakfast at the 70-year-old eatery - Partha Sarathy Vilas. We had Rava Pongal & filter coffee in the breakfast.
Rava Pongal Cost - Rs 35
Filter Coffee - Rs 15
Rock Fort - Then we travelled around 4 km and reached Rock Fort, Trichy. At the entrance, we were told that you have to climb 400 stairs to reach at top of the fort, but I dropped my visit because 2 years back I had my “Meniscus Tear” surgery so I had to avoid the stairs climbing.
We had a view of Rock Fort from the distance on the top of the fort there are 2 Temples. The Temple on the fort is built by the Pallava rulers 1200 years back.
Sri Venkatesa Bhavan - After this, we had some snacks at the 85-year-old eatery - Sri Venkatesa Bhavan here we had Vada and Rava Pongal.
Vada Price - Rs 20
Rava Pongal - Rs 10
Muruli Coffee - Then we had a filter coffee at Muruli Coffee its just nearby to the temple.
Lunch New Madura Hotel - After this, we had our lunch at the old eatery “New Madura Hotel” - Traditional South-Indian Thali

This temple is the third iteration of the Ranganathaswamy temple situated on an island in the Cauvery River. The initial one, known as Srirangapatna or Adi Ranga, is followed by Madhya Ranga near Shivanasamudra (both in Karnataka), and Srirangam marks the final, Antya Ranga. Nowadays, many are endeavoring to visit all three Ranganathaswamy temples on islands in a single day.

There is a very interesting and serious story behind d the White Gopuram in connection with the Mughal atrocities on the temple.

Again you missed out in Trichy similar to @Tanjavur. In Trichy, Jambukeswar temple is very famous and is one of the 5 elements (Water, Fire, Earth, Air and Sky) of Almighty Shiva's creation of universe. Jambukeswar is symbolic to water. Water is always flowing at the beneath of Lingam here.
I have recently discovered an article in which it was mentioned that South Indian Filter Coffee is chosen as the second-best coffee in the world. That's enough to know how great South Indian coffee taste is. I always get amazed to watch the food colors and variety they serve in Tamil Nadu. there are hundreds of temples like this in the country, Shri Ranganath Temple is very unique, such a temple will not be found in the entire country. Vishnu temples are very rare especially in North India.

Sriranganathaswamy is kula devata of raghukula, given to vibhishan by srirama. but sriranganathaswamy wished to stay in srirangam island as it looked like vaikuntha. Vibhishan followed the orders of swamy then swamy blessed vibhishan so that he will face lanka. Till today swamy face looks at lanka and it is also believed vibhishan worships swamy at night. Srirangam was richest temple in India during british era, now it is not. If you see a town itself in a temple it is srirangam. It is temple where kamba Ramayanam was composed and was approved by narasimha swamy. The temple gold plated vimanam is called pranavakara vimanam, before that is gayatri mandapa with 24 pillars representing each first word of thousand slokas(i.e. 24000 slokas of ramayana, 24 letters of each thousand sloka set, which gives gayatri mantra). One thing missed is thiruvanaikaval, it is also biggest temple, where aadishankaracharya gave gold taatankas to akilandeswarai ambal which can be seen till today.
