I'm glad you've touched on the difference between the docs and where they're made! I purchased 1461s made in china and had to return because of sizing. When I went back and tried made in England 1461s they fit like a dream whereas the made in china ones, no matter the size, wouldn't fit my feet. Turns out the tongue on the shoes is sewn higher on the china ones, so they have different patterns.
Good to know! I have dr Martens in 37 and 38 and Leather and vegan and im always so confused as of why they all fit so differently but this may be the cause!
But how do we choose the ones that made from either Thailand or England ? I bought mine from German website cause I’m based in Berlin. And I got the one from made in China

I've always found the production methods behind the vegan line to be interesting. I love Docs, but at the same time, the vegan line should be more sustainable. While leather is (typically) a meat industry byproduct, I still don't find it much better. Except, I feel like docs continue to hold the respect of the animal, if that makes sense? I'm not defending the terrible outcomes that the meat industry presents, but I would rather the leather got more life elsewhere than become effectively wasted. I have never gotten rid of any docs, nor plan to, unless I sell them to a good home who also respects what it took to create them. Because of my situation, I am not able to go vegan (yet), but I do my hardest to take all my impacts into account. Docs can become quite a passionate subject, but I think overall, quality shoes regardless of the line you choose. I do wish they touched more on their sourcing and the ethics, though. I've had people tell me that's too in depth to reflect on shoes, but then I find it interesting to look into the brands I love! Docs is the only brand I can say I without a doubt love, though. I just HOPE we can find better ways to carry on making the shoes we love while keeping the planet we love safer.
Sebastian Arango Palacio I appreciate this, I definitely agree to an extent. Honestly I’d recommend buying second hand leather if you’re concerned about the ethics and environmental impact of leather/pleather. It’s good to note that vegan leather is 99% of the time polyurethane(using large amounts of chemicals and non-biodegradable plastics) unfortunately. Leather is biodegradable and a bi-product of the meat industry. And with leather, if you treat it right and resole it, good leather shoes can last you decades instead of just one year. But if you already own leather or pleather shoes, throwing them away to buy new shoes ultimately defeats the purpose of helping the environment, so wear what you have until it’s time for it to go. hopefully helpful words that might help some people.

I wish that the actual Red Leather Jadon’s looked more like the red Vegan Jadon’s from a color standpoint. The red leather Jadon’s look way lighter than the vegan ones which I’m not crazy about
i think the best way to make these last the longest time so that u don’t waste $ and buy the same pair again is to wear them once in a while and definitely don’t wear them to concerts/festivals or wear them in harsh weather...
Thanks for this! I ordered a pair of used vegan docs on poshmark and when they came in the mail I noticed material separation/bubbling too! I hated it, I thought I was being thrifty I only paid $50 lol but I ended up returning them and getting brand new ones from the Doc store I'm gonna have to be careful to try and not get them wet - what's teh best way to care for them?
Dang! They are pretty resilient just don’t do anything stupid! If they get wet (like really wet) try dry them immediately and wipe clean if they get dirty!
I have these and they’re so comfy. They didn’t need any break in time. However, I also have the black ones and I HATE THEM. They’re a year and a half old and they still haven’t broken in. :’(
Glad it was helpful!! I don’t have my black ones with me but I think they are made in China. The leather is more tough but if you get the Pisa leather jadons they are soft!
Do you think i should size up ? I’ve never tried docs before and ive heard people say the same thing you said that the vegan ones are tighter than the regular. Not sure what size to order 😭
I would recommend choosing your normal size. I got my normal size for the regular (leather) Jadons. I have skinny feet, so they were too wide. I tried a size down, but my toes were touching the front. Since there are no half sizes, I kept my regular size (although a bit wide). But afterwards I ended up exchanging the leather Jadons by the vegan ones (which are not so wide, in my opinion). Bottom-line: I would recommend you to choose your normal size. I personally find the vegan ones better for thin feet, whereas the leather ones are good for wide feet.
vegans last about half as long as leather. the soles of vegan ones are better (they have felt in them) leather ones are technically more environmentally friendly because they biodegrade and are taking meat waste out of landfill whilst began ones are plastics and stay in landfill. i’d go for leather if it’s not against your ethics

Just got my first pair of docs and they’re made in Vietnam does anyone know how good the quality is because they seem legit but still kinda scared. Also what’s the best way for taking care of them?
My first pair pair was the black 1460 and they were made in Vietnam (had it when I was 16). In 23 now and still using it to this day. Ofc there's some signs of wear but I'm waiting to get some wonder bsalm from Dr Martens so they'll look good as new soon enough
There is no shoe care available from Dr martens for the vegan shoes. Wipe with a damp cloth. Wonder balsam is not vegan and isn't recommend for the range.
since when did Dr Martens explode in popularity?? its crazy because 10 years ago i didn't even see girls wearing these shoes and making dr marten shoes. and now you see every girl wearing these shoes all over europe
I think they really go in and out of style through the decades! I was so into them even 10 years ago! I guess everyone has them because they are so cool!
Should doc martens fit quite tight when u first get them because I’ve received some which don’t feel that tight and I’m wondering if I should get a smaller size. I heard that they expand when u wear them and break them in so is that why they are meant to be tight at the beginning! Please help! Xx
I would recommend you to pick a comfortable size, i.e. your regular size (e.g. if your toes are touching the front, pick a size up). You should be able to wiggle your toes. Even if the leather will get softer and expand, the length of the shoe will not change.
The made in Thailand ones are probably better quality. The "leather" is thicker and sturdier and probably closer to real leather. I like rough leather because I know that the shoes are sturdy and over time they conform to your feet and get more flexible whilst staying thick. It's personal preference i guess. Thanks for this video because I don't think I would be happy with the made in China Jaydons. ❤
Question? Of everyone would only buy leather docs second hand, would the brand not just die out? And if vegans are stil buying leather docs second hand depending on non vegans to buy them new, isnt that just shoving the guilt to non vegans While still enjoying the benefits of owning leather? Is that fair? I always thought that vegans want to “spread the Message”. Is depending on other people to buy leather so you can own it afterward a bit counterproductive? Not a vegan myself but it strikes me as a little bit weird? Or is that just me?
Valid question! Thanks for asking. The way I see if is that buying second hand is a more sustainable option, it's better for the environment because instead of those shoes going to landfill you are giving them a second life instead of buying a whole new pair. As you are saying if it came to it and people were only buying second hand, then there would be nobody buying new leather docs... assuming the supply would be lower (although there are probably already millions of docs already made) I would just stick with the ones I have and maybe fix them if they need it. I do support the fact that Dr Martens have come out with a vegan range, obviously I have bought them myself but it would be great if they were more sustainable though and durable so they last as long as the leather docs. So in short... basically it's not exactly relying on non vegans to buy the leather products, it's more we are using products that are already there instead of buying new. But for now, while people still are buying leather I will continue to buy second hand. It's sometimes also cheaper for people who can't afford the vegan alternatives 👍 Thanks Floor Waasdorp
I’m wondering if you may know this, I am trying to find out what is a safe way to remove scuffs from the vegan Doc Martens. I’ve been Googling for over an hour and I can’t find anything, only for non-vegan ones. I bought the 1460 opaline ones and only wore them once and there are scuffs. :(

Sadly it isn’t. You will find out once they arrive. I would go to a store near you that sells Docs. Idk if there are many, but where I live we have a Docs store and many resellers now since they are in fashion atm. Few years back it was harder to find them.
Hey did you see the Dr Martens Jadon Arcadia leather boots? They seem kinda nice too, I know you prefer the Vegan but the two look kinda similar! Anyway good Video 🤩🌈❤👍
My $10 boots made in Brazil looked as good,no scratches for 12 years, I used daily for many miles in rain running or hit days. My grandpa used to make shoes, those are shite for 1year scratch. But majority believes it's good. They prob spend not over $ 10-200 to make them....and china stiches are unevem ...vietnam looked premium, you exchanged for worse boots. After 13 years i need new boots but ill get vietnam ones, if they dont last ill gobackto new brazilian boots and make an absurd review $ 10 vs $ 280 🤡✨
Leather is more environmentally friendly than plastic shoes and animals are not killed for fashion, but food. Leather shoes are a by product of food industry.

I have 2 pairs of docs and they're leather, but I bought one pair in 2012 and the other in 2015 and they're both still good... And i don't want to buy a pair of the Vegan ones that are just as expensive but they're gonna last a hell of a lot shorter... So I haven't bought them yet and I'm waiting for Autum 2020 to finally buy a pair but I don't know which one 😂 but your video was really helpful!
I'm not too keen on buying these second hand either though so it's a tough choice... And to be fair, I think that the leather ones are made as a by-product of the meat industry cause I don't think they rise the cattle especially to make these, but that's not any good either, is it... At the same time I feel like since I stopped eating meat 7 years ago, it's kind of okay to buy a pair of shoes once a year that are leather but it still makes me feel bad if that makes sense 😂 anyways, thank you so much for your video love ❤️
I went to the store the other day with my sister and I got myself dr martens. I thought I got vegan boots but after research I realized they are the original ones. I kinda want to take them back and get the vegans one but not sure.
the color on the label on the back are diferents, that how you recognize them. the black and yellow real leather, the white and yellow vegan
We’re they made in Vietnam or Thailand?
So .....the second pair are from Vietnam 🇻🇳 or Thailand 🇹🇭?
I heard you said “ Vietnam “ ... I’m about to get them too 👍🏻✨
Woops maybe I said the wrong thing, they are from Thailand! But i think there are docs made in china, thailand, vietnam and england 👍
In the Wander Years Thanks 🙏🏻
I love your videos 👍🏻✨just thinking to get a first pair but cannot make decision actually 😬 what’s the most comfortable pair in your collection?
Goodnight 💤
Thanks!! My favourite and most comfortable pair is my Jadons, super easy to slip on and off. Either the black ones or vegan ones are both amazing!
In the Wander Years thank you 🙏🏻
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wish that the actual Red Leather Jadon’s looked more like the red Vegan Jadon’s from a color standpoint. The red leather Jadon’s look way lighter than the vegan ones which I’m not crazy about
I want to buy these but not sure because I’m 5’7 and might look too tall! 😆
Do it! I'm 5'6 and they feel so nice!
@@inthewanderyears I’ve bought them and they looks so cool but haven’t worn them out yet!
i think the best way to make these last the longest time so that u don’t waste $ and buy the same pair again is to wear them once in a while and definitely don’t wear them to concerts/festivals or wear them in harsh weather...
Too true! I definitely baby them more now! I think my other docs are better for festivals, these are gonna stay fresh.
HIiii firstly love love love ur doc marten vids
It seems like you really like them! I think you should get them when you see a good deal for them. Try the app depop, you might find some on there!
In the Wander Years aaahhh thank u so much ♥️
Should I get black or red ones 🥺🥺
If I could only have one, it’d be the black!
I have these and they’re so comfy. They didn’t need any break in time. However, I also have the black ones and I HATE THEM. They’re a year and a half old and they still haven’t broken in. :’(
They are so comfy!! But that sucks about the black ones!! Hope they get better!
how do you check before ordering where they are made?
hmm it's hard to check. My theory which may not be right is the made in china ones are more likely to be in America. But could be wrong!
hey this was super helpful! are your black ones from china or thailand and are they tough or soft? thx in adv!
Glad it was helpful!! I don’t have my black ones with me but I think they are made in China. The leather is more tough but if you get the Pisa leather jadons they are soft!
@@inthewanderyears great thanks! in terms of comfortability were they more uncomfortable from the tougher material?
Thanks for this video. Im buying the red ones and didnt realize difference. I do think the hard oones are real leather not vegan leather.
No problem! Glad I could help! They are both vegan leather because of the vegan label at the back, I guess just made out of different vegan leather.
@@inthewanderyears oh wow. That's insane.
Do you think i should size up ? I’ve never tried docs before and ive heard people say the same thing you said that the vegan ones are tighter than the regular. Not sure what size to order 😭
with docs you should ALWAYS size up. don't buy your actual size
Aren’t heavy to wear on a music Festival for a whole day 12 hours in a row?
Worn them to many a festival and these are comfy! But different for everyone!
Are you selling these on depop? What is your handle?
Yes but I think they could be sold already, got a few people lined up. Sorry!
I’m new to doc. I love the style. But there are two kinds online. Vegan and non. Is there a difference in quality? Do non vegan last longer?
vegans last about half as long as leather. the soles of vegan ones are better (they have felt in them) leather ones are technically more environmentally friendly because they biodegrade and are taking meat waste out of landfill whilst began ones are plastics and stay in landfill. i’d go for leather if it’s not against your ethics
Ive got both but love my vegan docs! The same look but comfier
Are these also for guys also?
Yed they are! Buy them if thats what youre wondering, I love mine and so does my boyfriend he loves the red colour and so do i
@@tuvi0032 Cool. I will order them. So your bf wears the red version?
@@appelscha23 yes and so do I!
@@appelscha23 i was trying to say in case you thought they were too feminine, my boyfriend is very masculine and he likes them so I think they work Great for everyone!
@@tuvi0032 thx 👍
Love platform docs at your feet❤️❤️❤️❤️ im Italian 🎉
Can i ask a question is the Dr. Martens Jadon black have long shoe laces?
Hey, I finally got my first DM Jadon black boots. It seems legit but I don’t feel good since the zipper is ykk. It’s made in Vietnam. I want to know if its original or I got scammed since I invested huge money to get my 1st ever pair of DM. Thanks alot for your reply.
dr martens also made boots with the ykk zipper instead the one that says dr martens, theyre originals
Iam a US size 7.5-8.. I was wondering which size I should get for UK! Seems like I am hearing very different things in terms of sizing.
Hmmm these ones are smaller than my other so if I was you I would maybe go 8 but would recommend trying on some Jadons!
i am here 4 minutes after this was posted
Thanks Eloise!
I wanted the black ones but now I want both of them 😩 😂
So hard to choose!
Shoe size?😍
Uk 6 normally I'm a Ladies Australian 9.
What's your depop? Love your videos
Thanks Becca! Right now I have a personal depop account but I'll make a proper one soon when I make a video going through and decluttering my clothes!
@@inthewanderyears cool!
since when did Dr Martens explode in popularity?? its crazy because 10 years ago i didn't even see girls wearing these shoes and making dr marten shoes. and now you see every girl wearing these shoes all over europe
Cátia O. Thank u, I went with your adobe and stuck with the 8
@@maddydamant1611 I hope it will be a good choice for you :) good luck and enjoy your Docs!
Also if they loosen out, try adding an inner sole to bulk them up!
Quick question: is the jadon platform taller than the 1460 bex platform (not the normal 1460) ?
Please help :’) i wanna buy one
Yes! The Jadons is taller. It goes normal sole like on the 1460s, bex which is a bit taller than that and then Jadon which is like the two combine!
Just bought second pair of Jadons and the eyelet rings are a different colour
Weird, which ones did you get?
The made in Thailand ones are probably better quality. The "leather" is thicker and sturdier and probably closer to real leather. I like rough leather because I know that the shoes are sturdy and over time they conform to your feet and get more flexible whilst staying thick. It's personal preference i guess. Thanks for this video because I don't think I would be happy with the made in China Jaydons. ❤
Yet the price is the same?
Yeah i thought the same
It's sometimes also cheaper for people who can't afford the vegan alternatives 👍
Thanks Floor Waasdorp
I’m wondering if you may know this, I am trying to find out what is a safe way to remove scuffs from the vegan Doc Martens. I’ve been Googling for over an hour and I can’t find anything, only for non-vegan ones. I bought the 1460 opaline ones and only wore them once and there are scuffs. :(
Doc Martens represent years of Rebellion beginning in the UK, and then in America!
So what are your Docs without a little bit
Character???? Wear Your Docs Proudly
Scuffs and All! Shoes never stay perfect
Anyway...🤩🌈🌹👍🔥🇬🇧
mine are made in bangladesh ??
Interesting, they are made in many different places
hey guys! Can anyone tell me how to tell where the shoe is made if you are online shopping? if it is at all possible? thank you! :)
Sadly it isn’t. You will find out once they arrive. I would go to a store near you that sells Docs. Idk if there are many, but where I live we have a Docs store and many resellers now since they are in fashion atm. Few years back it was harder to find them.
I like that you say that they are made in Vietnam, but ceep saying the Thailand ones😂
Yeah sorry my brain is dumb like that. I do it when I want to say green but I say orange too.
Do you find the black Jadons more comfortable than the cherry? Not sure which ones to get!
I wear the black ones more but the red are more comfy!
@@inthewanderyears Thank you! :)
Hey did you see the Dr Martens Jadon Arcadia leather boots? They seem kinda nice too, I know you prefer the Vegan but the two look kinda similar! Anyway good Video 🤩🌈❤👍
They are sooo nice!! But yes I already have the vegan ones.
between the vegan jadon and the normal black jadon which do you prefer??
Black jadons are more versatile
Too bad there’s not a Jadon made in england
Yeah I wish they would have them!
Hi. how hard are the soles? Can you crush for example bulbs under this boots or no?
They are slightly soft but thick af so you could probably crush things with them.
@@inthewanderyears Thx! But you feel all small things under soles, or you can crush small thinks and don't feel this?
trampektrampek2 I think it’s safe to say yes. I’m not sure what could make through those soles
After 13 years i need new boots but ill get vietnam ones, if they dont last ill gobackto new brazilian boots and make an absurd review $ 10 vs $ 280 🤡✨
the real leather ones are a pain to break in imo
Yeah they can be sometimes!
“Bad boys”
Hahaha
Iloveu Jen.We are doc martens schicksal
Thanks Michael!!
Kinda pointless if u are buying vegan shoes to buy 3 pairs
Leather is more environmentally friendly than plastic shoes and animals are not killed for fashion, but food. Leather shoes are a by product of food industry.
If you dont like the bubbles when they get wet don't buy vegan leather buy normal leather
These are fake leather that's why it creases
I don’t get it.
You look like a girl version of Magnus Ronning🤔
Haha just looked him up, I slightly see it haha
