I'll say this until I'm blue in the face, those horses and guards should be given a perimeter that the public are not allowed to breach. The guards under the arches don't allow the public to get near them so it should be the same for the horses and guards.
It apparently has to do with where the perimeter would go. The horse needs to be able to move freely if something happens, either to spook it, or if it needs to be put into action for an incident. Because of this, the perimeter would need to be far enough away from the horse that people would be unable to access either the sidewalk or the gates to go inside. Here is an example. At 6:25, the horse becomes restless and leaves the nook altogether. It's not an extreme example, but it shows how much space a horse can need if it's just milling around. Nothing says the horses are 'people friendly'. They're doing a job and if you can't work out that a 600 - 700kg quadruped can inflict injuries, you should probably stay away from them.
My mother would say, "Do you have eyes at the end of your fingers? You see with your eyes! You're not blind to have to touch." The horse should have bitten her harder.😄
He definitely thought her arm was food lol. His posture and body language wasn’t angry or stressed, I just think he thought her coat looked yummy haha!
Seriously, every time I see these videos it pisses me off how many stupid and entitled people are in this world. It’s not a petting zoo, the horses are there to work. How’d they like it if random people came to their job and just started patting their head and nose. Smh
He is just such a rascal you can't help but laugh. Horses are big boys that could do severe damage if intentioned. I liked the head boop he gave that kid too. Making his own entertainment during boring on guard duty.
I feel sorry for the horses, getting manhandled by everyone. I know, it's irresistible not to pat them. I would find it hard not to pat them. I adore horses. 🥰🥰🥰🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
These people need to realise that horses are not guinea pigs. The one thing that horses and guinea pigs do have in common is that if you pet them for long enough then they will let you know that they are getting sick of it. But a guinea pig won't inflict the same sort of painful injuries upon you that a horse is capable of inflicting.
Yes! These folks don't realize that biting is a serious no-no, for many very good reasons, and can cause serious injuries. A horse's kick is extremely powerful and can cause severe, even fatal injuries. There are safety rules to follow around horses, ex. paying attention to the mood of the horse and the tension in its body, paying attention to body language. Not sure if those people know these rules. Why is it so hard to understand?
There was a video on yt about a guy trying hitch up his horse to drag logs. He kept beating the horse with whip. The horse did kick the guy in the head and killed him. Terrible video, I am kind of unsuspecting, more careful about what I watch now.
1) Most people are totally divorced from large animals and their physical reality. They think the world is a Disney theme park. 2) Most people proudly announce that they are “animal lovers” - a form of self-congratulation that makes me gag and head for the hills. This gives them undeniable “rights of access” to any and all unfortunate animals they stumble across.
Horses & dogs are the better judge of humanity. The more I see of people, the more I love my horse & dogs. Best wishes from Adelaide; South Australia🇦🇺💐

People don't realise horses are dangerous both ends. When I was working in a yard, I witnessed one of our horses bite and nearly take a womans breast off. You should have seen the blood and heard her scream. Obviously we called for an ambulance and she was rushed to hospital.
I stroked a gypsy horse/ pony in Thamesmead. I am never going to stroke again! It suddenly pulled Off the zip thing of my small front Pocket, of my handbag that was around my neck! It cannot close since then, no working zip; the tassle Pulled off by horse/ pony suddenly!
The very second the horse started to nibble the arm, pull your arm away. She didn't keep her eyes on the horse either. She got what she deserved. There should be another sign on the opposite side of the arch. But of course, people don't read warning signs. The horse got tired of people petting. I totally agree with the horse. I'd get tired of people petting me constantly.
Why is she at 4:27 approaching with her hand and fingers sticking out towards its eyes and not looking what she's doing? What's wrong with these people? I think the woman at the end - who didn't stick her hand out on approach - copped the frustration from all these people. Leave the horse alone isn't it.
I knew it was going to happen by watching the horses body language. His eyes are giving a very clear signal he wants not pets today. Also horses have pressure points on their face, right were most of these people were petting. Its the same if someone put their fingers either side of your nose and pressed. Horses don't like being petted on the nose, a scratch to their forehead is fine or a stroke to their neck, some like a scratch behind the ears, others don't.. and please don't scratch a stallions chest.. Thats a eh.. Sensitive area (that's the area that rubs off the back of a mare when he's mounted)
It's amazing how the horse reacts to the kids and the kids to the horse. They are much more sensitive to it than the adults. They approach cautiously and carefully, they wait to see if the horse accepts a touch. And they don't come from the side with their arms already stretched out to grab at the horse. And all the kids want is to greet the great animal, not only getting a nice photo. They want to build a connection, no matter how small and how short it is. And the horse seems to sense their intention and rewards respectful behavior towards itself with care and patience. That's wonderful to see! I'm always amazed by children and animals! We can learn much from the kids!
there is a sign right next to the horse...and if you are wearing an orange jacket, you should not be surprised, a horse will try to eat that big carrot... in fact, the horse didn't bite in an aggressive way, it just kind of tastes, what is in front of its mouth. You can see with lots of the other passants also, that this horse is very touchy and sniffles at every hand around ist and trys to contact everybody with smooth little bites, just as it would try to contact with a horse-friend. On fact it is only cuddeling the woman and all the other people...only that "cuddeling" among horses is slightly more intense than among humans... (sorry, my English is very bad...)
I don’t know why people feel animals should be touched by strangers and they should like it!! Most of them don’t. You wouldn’t let a stranger pet your kid. I have a guide dog and it’s amazing how manypeople think they are being “nice” when they want to pet him. But it makes him uncomfortable. He is very keen on doing his work and he doesn’t enjoy being mauled by strangers. If you were in the middle of a basketball game, you wouldn’t want someone to interrupt you and stop your game because they want to pet you on the head! So unless it’s a child, that asks to pet him, I try to say no but have been cursed at several times. It’s very frustrating because we both need to concentrate on what we are doing. I’m not sure why people think every animal wants their attention.
You'd think they'd put a sign up to warn tourists that this could happen... Love the way the trooper just let the animal clamp down for a second before reining away.
Unreal how so many people treat this horse, that is working, like a cartoon. Photo op! Then are surprised or upset when it has had enough! Too funny, her face when it bit her. 😂
There are signs in place warning people - but still they get too close ! I have said previously that the public should not be allowed near the horse and guard - there should be a barrier to stop them. Too many people ignore the signs - even ignore the guard when told to leave the reigns alone and don't even bother to 'ask' before taking their photos or say 'thank you' afterward. People just walk right up - take their photo and walk away - it wouldn't hurt to at least give the guard a smile of acknowledgement instead of acting like he isn't even there !!
Love the interaction the horse has with the kids, who were quite respectful, I wonder if his favourite food are orange or something similar to that ladies arm my he thinking yummy treat time😀
I like to think when the horses come off duty the Guard puts a little sticker on the stable door for each muppet the horse nipped .... bit like the pilots in WW2 on the Spitfires 😁
I find this guard isn’t doing anything to stop the people from rubbing the horse or holding the reins or bridle. The warning sign doesn’t say enough, rendering it useless.
These horses are sour not only from the constant people, but they go from stable to standing still all day, then to be returned to a box again till the next day. That does NOT make a happy horse ANYWHERE! It’s about time this abusive practice ends!!
Having horses of my own, when a horse is touched, rubbed, pulled, poked, by many idiots during the day they can become very annoyed, even if it’s a seasoned horse, because after a time it turns into mauling of the poor beast. The riders need to be more frequent in telling the public to not touch the horse as well as the reins and bridle. Also, the parents who bring their children up to a horse’s mouth and tell them to pet the horses nose, be aware the horse cannot see what’s in front of his mouth and nose, and can bite pretty hard. It’s the parent who willingly puts their child in harms way. It’s not a petting zoo. Maybe, putting a rope marker widely around might keep the idiots out. Of course, what I see in other videos, the rules of not crossing the barrier isn’t always obeyed.
These horses behave like they are suffering from stress. I actually feel sorry for them standing stationary with a weight on their backs, getting pulled around by the public every 5 minutes, in the middle of a busy city. They never look happy.
Fun watching that horse. Bored to tears, clearly. Then goes from, "I like you, I don't like you, I think you are alright, you look like a whole lot of fun to bite!" lol
This horse is exceedingly social. He took a hold of her arm but if he had actually bitten her she would have been in trouble. A horse is capable of breaking that arm. Why do people just go up and put hands on his face? And they totally ignore the guard. Really rude.
In all fairness to her, she is not any worse than everyone else. She took the pain gracefully and stroked the horses nose afterwards. I see an animal lover. 🙂
These horses are angles and have so much patience to have people constantly stroking/tapping their muzzles. That horse had every right to lose its paitience on that touist

@@Sunnythechestnutmare Still finally a video of an actual bite even if it is a warning. I believe my Uncle once said that the nose is a very sensitive area on the Horse's face. Some love a nice petting there and some don't. Like we wouldn't want strangers coming up petting our noses so, should really if anything observe the way the horse responds when others do it then you decide for yourself.
Now I just want to see one good well p[laced kick or maybe the horse steps on the tourist's foot.
@@Sasskitten A horse kicking a tourist would be great but I feel like they would blame the horse which would be awful
Yeah, seemed like the horse was more bored and just wanted to explore everything with his mouth, like a puppy does.
The horse wasn’t biting her, it was mouthing her like a puppy would mouth anything, it’s how such creatures explore everything around them.
This is true. Those were exploratory nibbles. When horses bite with intent, they are as quick as a snake striking.
My grandfather used to tell me that when you hold the reins, imagine you are holding a bird’s nest in your hands. Horse’s mouths are sensitive, and they will sometimes clamp down on something softer than the bit for relief.
It could take her hand of if he really bites.
yes he is a very mouthy horse.....I had a horse lose his mom right after birth so we had to bottle feed it...Horses like that miss the suckling of their mom so many grow up to be mouthy...they also develop Tongue sucking where they go into a haze sucking ...they are remembering that time...they look like they are day dreaming and sucking their tongue It harmless .......

I love horses, but I would never touch a horse without permission. They're beautiful, but they're working.

No one walks up and simply, solemnly and respectfully salutes the guard and his horse.
Why would anyone do that? Only a senior officer in the British Forces would do that, and the trooper would respond (if he hadn't saluted first).

It's not good form at all when out of uniform. A friendly wave and smile is much better. When my husband was in uniform and wandered to Horseguards he made sure not to go past the sentry boxes. That way there's no expectation of returning the salute with a sabre in one hand and reins in the other.
The tourists should at least ask permission to touch the horses and then say thank you. I have watched many of these videos and only a few people say thank you.,

Don't think horse means harm. Just trying to be a horse. Must be stressful for horse. All that touching & grabbing.
Horses like to be moving. Standing still and being forced to let these people poke, prod, and crowd them for an hour must be torture for them.
Nothing says the horses are 'people friendly'. They're doing a job and if you can't work out that a 600 - 700kg quadruped can inflict injuries, you should probably stay away from them.

STUPID women put her arm up to the horse !
He definitely thought her arm was food lol. His posture and body language wasn’t angry or stressed, I just think he thought her coat looked yummy haha!
Sorry, no sympathy. Leave the poor horse alone
He has such a mischievous glint 😂 tossing the child off was hilarious
The sign literally says “Horses may kick or bite you!” What do you expect?
I feel sorry for the horses, getting manhandled by everyone. I know, it's irresistible not to pat them. I would find it hard not to pat them. I adore horses. 🥰🥰🥰🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Not a horse person so would stand well away or completely bypass the area lol
These people need to realise that horses are not guinea pigs. The one thing that horses and guinea pigs do have in common is that if you pet them for long enough then they will let you know that they are getting sick of it. But a guinea pig won't inflict the same sort of painful injuries upon you that a horse is capable of inflicting.
The kid in the blue coat calmed the horse down a little. That was sweet.
Poor horse getting fed up with so many hands going towards his face
Yeah I'm pretty sure that would be my response if people kept rubbing my nose all day!
Most people grow up without learning horse body language or the safety rules you referred to.
Its easier than that....just read the bloody sign!

Horses may kick or bite! But headbutt! 0:37 🤣
He didn't bite her. He grabbed her arm and held on. Some horses are like babies, and want to put things in their mouths, like leadropes etc. If he was biting her, there'd be a much greater amount of noise and movement coming from her! They can break bones, and cause such damage to flesh, like you standing on an orange, the cells in the muscles are literally crushed and burst open spilling the contents. It's very painful and leaves bad scars.
People don't realise horses are dangerous both ends. When I was working in a yard, I witnessed one of our horses bite and nearly take a womans breast off. You should have seen the blood and heard her scream. Obviously we called for an ambulance and she was rushed to hospital.
Yeah I’ve seen a man’s ear bitten clean off before.

Off the zip thing of my small front

The very second the horse started to nibble the arm, pull your arm away. She didn't keep her eyes on the horse either. She got what she deserved. There should be another sign on the opposite side of the arch. But of course, people don't read warning signs. The horse got tired of people petting. I totally agree with the horse. I'd get tired of people petting me constantly.
Even a guinea pig will give people warning signs if they are getting sick and tired of constantly being petted.
@@darrenmiles-morland8038 true of any animal.

THE WORST OF THIS IS THAT SOME STUPID PARENTS SHOV E THEIR LITTLE KIDS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HORSE imagine the damage on a chide

They horse must get so fed up with people touching it all day

Hooray for the horse.
Poor horses nose must get soar
British noses do soar.
Up in the air! Junior birdmen. Sore away.
Poor horse nose.....he'll end up to sneeze
Exactly and a horse's nose is a very sensitive part of their body so this constant touching is very annoying for them
It's amazing how the horse reacts to the kids and the kids to the horse.

You are right! He was not biting aggressive, just exploring.
I’m not sure why people think every animal wants their attention.
you seriously trying to compare a horse to someone's kid do you realize how stupid that sounds
Horses can tell if you are afraid of them
You'd think they'd put a sign up to warn tourists that this could happen...

I've had one of those days when it all gets too much...
Omg seeing all this people touching this horse that is already annoyed by the bite makes me so mad!!

This takes having boundaries to a whole new level. Watch out 😂‼️
Don't touch things that don't belong to you!
This horse is exceedingly social. He took a hold of her arm but if he had actually bitten her she would have been in trouble. A horse is capable of breaking that arm. Why do people just go up and put hands on his face? And they totally ignore the guard. Really rude.
