Troy Gentry died in a helicopter crash, he was only 50. Eddie Montgomery was actually at the airport waiting for him. They were in NJ for a show and he had been taking a helicopter tour. This was 2017. They had been performing as Montgomery Gentry since 99. And if losing his best friend wasn’t enough, a few months after he was diagnosed with cancer his wife served him divorce papers, he said she didn’t want to deal with his diagnoses. And their son OD and died. He’s been through the wringer. Fun fact, John Michael Montgomery, another very successful country singer is Eddie Montgomerys brother.
Great song and reaction. As to the motorcycle in the kitchen. An uncle told me he knew he had married "a keeper" when she came home from work a few months after they married, stepped over multiple motorcycle parts on the living room carpet and simply asked him if spaghetti was okay for dinner. lol
Written by David Cory Lee and Dave Turnbull. Montgomery Gentry released it in January 2007 as the 2nd single from their 2006 album, Some People Change. I really enjoy your take on the country music I love.
Wonderful reaction unfortunately Troy Gentry was lost in a helicopter accident. But the music that Montgomery Gentry made is legendary. Rip Troy Gentry.
I like this song & loved this duo. Troy Gentry is missed & Eddie Montgomery is a great singer. I like his voice. He is John Michal Montgomery's brother ( I know you've done a few of his). Talented country family.
This song came out in '06. and yes there was the rrunning joke about country. if you you play it backwards your truck runs, your dog lives and your woman comes home
Their song "Some People Change" is great too. Troy Gentry (the dude with no hat) passed from a helicopter crash, coincidentally on the same day that legend country singer Don Williams passed away. And Montgomery (with the hat), is the brother of Michael Montgomery, who I think you guys may have reacted to before.
MG have always been my fav country duo. Their sound was perfection. IMO. Happy to see this. Hope they show up again here soon. Excellent reaction RIP Troy 👏💙🎤🎸
A good reminder to sit back and and look at the broader picture. My only negative is really small and really just boils down to semantics, but I personally think I'm fortunate not lucky. While they are very similar, there are distinctions. Being lucky is pure random chance, being fortunate adds a level of intention. I'm where I'm at today because of choices I have made. I don't really have a problem with the song. Singing "I'm a Fortunate Man" just wouldn't sound as good and fit the meter! Just something I was thinking about.
The message in this song is kind of hard for me. Lost my parents 20 years lost my forever girl 19 years ago, I never had kids and just lost the last friend I could count on in September. But my old truck is still running good and my ticker still works so I guess I paint the smile on and keep marching.
I loved the song, the message and your reaction! Your wife is a saint, Keith. 😂 Bike in the kitchen lol. On Tuesday I made it back from warm Texas to freaking cold, snow on the ground Germany. Stephen kingpin bourbonite told me the Christmas gift arrived. I’m glad it did. You’re very welcome. The Glühwein is good when it’s cold outside. At the end of February and in march I’ll be back in Texas for a bit. The message of that song resonates with me, because I sometimes forget how lucky I am. Thank you for this reaction.
@@BourbonCountryReacts you are very welcome. Sorry, it arrived late but my car engine decided in December that ten years of working was enough. I disagreed but that thing was done for good. I’m not a car person like my dad and my ex. So it took a bit to get a replacement car and in the end i dropped that package off too late. I’m sorry. And everything was a bit rushed including writing the card. lol 😂 But I think you can enjoy Christmas candy after Christmas too and Glühwein is good the whole winter. Best wishes to your wimminz and enjoy!
@@BourbonCountryReacts yes I got her to eat southern foods, you should have seen her reaction to biscuits and gravy, then jambalaya and the I took her to a Texas BBQ. Oh I want mention her asking for me to stop so she could take a picture of Buckiees
I recently found one of their songs as new to me. Forgive the title, but it's called Titties Beer. Not to be confused with Titties and Beer by Rodney. I think you guys would enjoy that fun song with some kick ass guitars!!!
I had an interesting exchange with T Roy once. He was wearing a shirt that said Show Me Your Tats. Race people know what that's a version of. I showed him my tattoo.
Please check out Chris Melanson from Canada the song is called Room's For Rent it is the best REAL country song I have heard in a long time it was released in the fall of 2022
G'day boys, Hey Keith, at least it's all in one piece in your mrs' kitchen, my eldest brother had his '72 Norton Commando Mark IV in bits in the loungeroom...on cream coloured carpet...no tarp, no nothing, my s-i-l was not impressed especially when the sprogs got in there to "help"...🥴 🙃🐨🇦🇺
Dustin, shame on you, young man, in country, it's not a violin it's called a fiddle. Montgomery Gentry Started in 1999, Troy Gentry died in 2017. The song Lucky Man came out in 2007.
💯. Growing up I remember thinking “man all these new songs suck”. The radio was non stop Rascal Flats and Keith Urban on repeat. Yet somehow it’s still more enjoyable than today’s country generally.

RIP Troy Gentry,
This song does hit differently now, knowing he passed.

Close Dustin. It was released in 2006. Great song.
Such a great song that I haven't listened to in far too long. RIP Troy Gentry

Yes there was fiddle you can hear it on the ending note cause it carried on the ending. This definitely was a lyrical song. RIP Gentry. Great artist.
I caught that chuckle when he said "Last Sunday when the Bengals lost"
Yea, it’s just too bad they whipped the Colts butt when I went down to check out the game… -Dustin

That's one of the few songs I believe that Eddie was the lead on. Troy did most of the lead singing.
Yes I am a dude. But I'm just glad these bottles were finally found.
To be fair, I never questioned you being a dude! -Dustin
I love this song so much ❤
Saw them in concert a few years back and they were great! Very humble guys!!
Dustin is always the bad guy. Keith is the perfect angel😂😂😂😂😂, I was ducking lightening as I wrote that
HA! No risk of lightning for telling the truth. - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReactslet me guess you got a smirk on yer face as you typed that
I mean if Soren Kierkegaard is correct and Truth is subjective then Keith isn't wrong. . .
Between the USA and Canada it's freezing everywhere in North America
Another great one you would like from Montgomery Gentry is She Dont Tell Me To

Keith, add Mary Kutter "Devil's Money" to the list. Video comes out this week.
Thanks I just listened to this and it reforced how lucky I am
Released in 2007, and I think this should be on a Thanksgiving playlist. Song suggestion: Randy Travis "He Walked on Water".

It is my understanding that Eddie Montgomery now sings with Troy Gentry's son.

2000s country was very pop/rock and got away from traditional. To be honest, 2000s is where country started to become too commercial.
