  • Finally after long last I have completed my bug out/INCH bag! Configured for colder weather, this was a long process to get it set up to the point it is now. Of course like any good kit, this is a work in progress, subject to change as testing continues. I'd like to give a shout out to Zeke, Jake and Keegan for the help with recording and otherwise making this whole video possible.
    Here's my patreon account, in case you wanna help the channel!

    Not to bad. Except you need a couple things. Axe, metal canteen, FULL TANG BLADE, maybe a headlamp, and a solar charger w/rechargable batteries, fishing kit, metal traps, an E-Tool, and Last but not least... binoculars wouldn't be a bad idea. And your gonna need some type of tarp or tent. Just my suggestion but what do I know...good video!

    If you don’t have a problem humping the pack , what’s it matter to anyone what it weighs. Everyone is different. I’d rather have more things to make life easier than lighten my load because someone else thinks it’s to much. I have probably 75 ponds on this guy. Trust me , I’m taking a few more things than he has. GREAT VIDEO. THANKS.

    I might recommend a drop leg holster off of your pants belt. That way if you have to drop your pack for whatever reason you’ll still have your sidearm on you. Great video nonetheless, keep it up man!

    • @TheTroublemakersGuild
      @TheTroublemakersGuild  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, I can definitely swap it to the belt if need be. It's just easier to store it on the pack. Thanks for watching!

  • @KiwiBushcraftAndSurvival
    @KiwiBushcraftAndSurvival 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thanks for the upload. I would like to suggest several things that you could consider:
    1. Waist webbing, this will allow you pack to sit on the back pouches and allow your waist to help take some of the load off the shoulders. It will also give you extra space in your pack, by allowing you to carry the water bottle in the webbing. You could also carry your fire kit in the waist webbing and other essentials incase you need to drop your pack and run for your life. You can also run your drop down holster straight off the webbing belt. this way it will always be on you when you don't have your pack on.
    2. Chest webbing/rig, this will also allow you to carry other essential gear (map and compass etc) and make space in your pack.
    3. With all the extra space in your pack now, you can throw in some form of shelter, like a poncho, basha/hoochie/tarp, so when it is raining you can setup/pull down your sleep system underneath it, so that your sleeping bag etc doesn't get wet.
    4. Lastly I would seriously consider items for hunting, fishing and trapping. The food in the pack won't last long and you will want to save the bullets for self defense (Priority), or large game (Deer, pigs etc). Only use bullets on smaller game if you are literaly starving. Gun shots can be heard from miles away, and can give away your position to others.
    5. Full-tang survival knife and a hatchet, tomohawk or small axe.
    6. Ranger beads for pacing.
    I show my waist webbing loadout on my youtube site. It may give you some ideas.
    It is always a work in progress, thanks for sharing. Nice set up and I really like your pack :)

    • @TheTroublemakersGuild
      @TheTroublemakersGuild  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll have to check out the waist webbing on your page!
      I do already have a light weight chest rig that will hold 4 5.56 nato mags. I can likely find a way to throw some stuff on it if need be.
      The bivy is actually my shelter, designed for high altitude mountaineering. You throw all of your sleeping gear inside of it and the gore-tex keeps you dry while still being breathable.
      And I definitely need to add some trapping and fishing gear!
      A full tang knife would be a good idea and I thought about an axe, but decided against it because I have a good saw already.
      Ranger beads are never a bad idea

    Very comprehensive kit. One suggestion...Don’t store your Sawyer Mini in a Loksak bag. Store it in a mesh bag so that it can dry out. I have some experience with the Sawyer filters. They are great filters however they can mildew if not allowed to completely dry out after use. Mold and bacteria can form and make you have a really bad day. I also carry mine inside an empty wide mouth Klean Kanteen wrapped in a bandana so that it doesn’t get broken. If you don’t have something to protect it at least put it inside your pack and wrap it with your shemagh. Im afraid it could get smashed and broken in that outside pouch. Just my thoughts. Again...You’ve got a very good setup there. Thanks for sharing.

      So far the only things I've done have been adding a Source Tactical UTG (which allows you to fill the water blader directly from a water bottle or faucet without taking the blader out of your pack), and I replaced the boonie with a Carhartt beanie because it'll be better in the cold and because I gave the boonie to my great grandma after she had a heart attack (she watched the videos I've posted on insta of me wearing it and really liked it). I do have plans to upgrade a lot of stuff tho, after reading all the comments people have made on this video. It's a process tho, and not a priority at the moment

  • @VictorGarciaR
    @VictorGarciaR 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know this video is 2 years old, and you have a new video on this topic with another bag, but just in case this bag/setup still exists or it helps someone else....
    Instead of taking your sleep system apart and putting everything into its own sack and into the bag, try a sleep roll. Just deflate the mattress and roll everything (bag liner+bag+air mat inside goretex bag) and strap the roll under the bag. Add a ground sheet as an outermost layer for extra comfort when on camp (clean and dry area just outside the bivvi bag) and extra protection when moving (protect the bivvy bag from branches, thorns, rocks)

    Nice job with the wet sealed bags. I see so many people depending on ziplock freezer bags & they just aren’t dependable at all. Especially for important items like medications, food, medical supplies, etc.
    as for the holster... have you looked at the chest rigs out there? They have holsters that can also attach to the front, of your backpacks shoulder straps (in your chest area.). Making it easily accessible.
    And one last thing, it might be a good idea to include some type of tarp (or did I miss it?) it will help to give you a lot better shelter options. (I know your sleep system is designed to keep you dry and warm but that still can get miserable- the added tarp can help keep wind, rain, sleet,etc, from you and your gear also it’ll help reflect heat if you’re using a fire . Helping you and your stuff to dry, where without it, it will be unable to dry off.)
    You did a great job - much better than many I’ve seen! And I’ve watched hundreds of these- I have no idea why, other than always looking for fresh new ideas, lol.

    • @TheTroublemakersGuild
      @TheTroublemakersGuild  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the Loksaks are good. I'm a little concerned about them getting punctured but otherwise I have no complaints. I have looked at chect rigs, but I already have one that holds my AR mags, because lord knows I'm not going into the apocalypse with nothing but my pistol lol. And I did have a tarp at one point but it was about 2lbs by itself so I ditched it. Maybe I'll add a cheap one at some point.

    • @TheTroublemakersGuild
      @TheTroublemakersGuild  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the pack that I have has a horizontal strap that goes across the right side of the hip belt. All I did was weave the drop leg holster around that strap and that was all I needed to do. Rather than having the holster rest in between the pack and my hip, it rests on the outside of the hip belt, so no pinching! When SHTF however, I can take the holster off of the pack entirely and run it on my belt, but I havent tested to see if that pinches yet.

      @@TheTroublemakersGuild it is fun. We try to get out and train with our gear about once a month. My bag is the USMC ILBE main rucksack. I also have a static v insulated pad. I use it with an aquaquest 10x10 tarp and a woodland camo Modular Sleep System. I also have a Snugpak pillow and Arcturus mylar sport utility blanket for a ground sheet. Anyway, once i get the bag finished, i plan on making a video as well. Seems these bags are necer really finished, but like you said, that's part of the fun.

    Ok here is my take on your bag .
    I would reorganize the whole thing .
    Need your first aid kit on out side of your pack
    Your shelter system needs work ,had a gi hammock and Sas tarp
    Your sleep system as is stands won't last you very lock .ditch all the blow up items or buy a patch kit
    So organize your bag like this
    Out side main should be first aid,water filter/snacks,fire starter,ppe,tools,admin pouch with maps binos etc on front of you ,a pouch for category
    Main should be cook set food,sleep system,clothes,back up ammo in a dry bag not a trash bag
    Items to ad
    Poncho
    Halley Hanson base layer
    Wool socks and glove
    Candle lantern
    Space blankets
    Painter drop cloth for super shelter
    Secondary filter msr guardian
    Smart bottle 5 gal bladder
    Ax
    Gerber spade
    A real fix blade the mora is a back up
    Sharpener for both
    Signal kit
    Fishing kit
    Small urban kit ( silcox,Alan key,Stanley flat pry bar
    Trapping kit
    The never coming home bag is very complex and un needed ( most likely will never need it .And it's a pack you don't use ever just rotate out food items just like your get home bags . ( the pack for this is a pack that has minimal zippers and 1000 cordura and hypon ( ilbe is the way to go for go bags)
    Make a training bag and leave your other kits alone .
    The pack set up you have you wont make it in a Colorado winter .
    Your sleep system has you on the ground ( yes I saw your blow up pad that will pop and snivel pillow ) you need to either be in a cave or off the ground if you want a pillow get the stuff pillows .
    Edible plants book
    Shelter building book ( your current kit is temporary you need a decent repair kit / sewing kit
    Your going to have to build multiple shelters and hide sites and tree stands
    Need to insulate your filter it will freeze the way you have it . Thats why I say get the msr guardian as main
    Your pack is going to get more heavy after you ad the right items . Remember you are talking about not coming home think long and hard about that .
    Things to conceder,family and pets and a team .
    Looks like you have friends with you I would find an area and break your pack down give each person a role .cook,shelter,water,hunter is shared .
    Now redo your packs around your assigned role this is how you survive not alone you will die just from being alone.
    Loss of moral and will power .
