- In this video, I am showing the contents of my bugout bag. I've been using my USMC FILBE system to carry my bugout and survival gear with confidence. When I chose this system for my survival needs I knew that if it was good enough for the United States Marine Corps it would certainly hold up to anything that I could throw at it. I've had this system for a couple of years now and have used it in all four seasons, in North Carolina and out. Any bugout scenario that we can think of has at least one part of my FILBE (Family of Improved Load Bearing Equipment) gear in it.

This FILBE bugout survival gear can get real heavy, real fast. The idea is to make it to one of our locations with all of our gear, situation dependant. Being able to stash one of the bags during the bugout at predetermined locations can come in handy when we need to pick up our pace, then, later return for the stashed gear. Some days carrying all of the gear is harder than others as weather, physical fitness and environmental factors come into play. Some days we're stronger than others, some days we're faster than others, and some days we're those "others". Be smart and plan for it.
In my kit, I carry many things that are needed for survival. My cover ranges from a USMC Improved Bivy cover, one-man tent, two-man tent, poncho, to tarp and hammock. I do not carry both tents and tarps all at once. That's heavy and takes up precious space and weight.
I carry a range of firearms and ammunition as well as knives, saw and an axe along with a Leatherman multi-tool.
My containers consist of water bladders, Stanley Adventure cups and a few other items.
Cordage is wrapped up with paracord and a "Greenline" military rappelling/climbing (dynamic) rope.
Combustion in my kit is covered by ferro rods, lighters, and matches.

Great video, really knowledgeable and well spoken for a younger lad must have a good teacher. It's a blessing to be able to do all this and share the outdoors with your dad. Those will be memories you'll tell your kids about one day

That pack system is robust to say the least! Did you get the entire kit with the main ruck, hydration carrier, and assault pack?
@@robertsbushcraft what I purchased was used surplus and came with the ruck pack , assault pack, tent straps, and 2 sustainment pouches. I'm looking for a hydration carrier and assault pouch currently to finish off the complete setup.
Thanks man that's pretty much a perfect setup, just got out of uni and started working on mine. Some of that US Army issue gear's tough to get hold of here in the UK though all of the sudden (wasn't like that pre Covid), I'll probably have to look for substitutes (import charges are pretty insane otherwise). Outstanding load out young man, this is allot of weight kudos to being strong and young still. I try to aim for 30 to 35 lbs and i hate rucking that 🤣🤙 I just bought a FILBE pack to replace my lightweight pack excellent review God bless brother!!!
Truly it is a ton of weight. Even now we are still tweaking the load here and there, cutting out what we really don't need in the bag. Shovels and other odds ends are now stored at a couple of our locations. Still, this FILBE system is top notch in my book! Thanks for watching and commenting, Clearly Canadian!

@@1st1shot that's the word on the street. We're getting our technician license so that we are legal. You can however legally use these in an emergency situation without a license.

The FILBEs are rapidly coming down in price, I jumped on them when they were fairly new, and paid $425 or so, but it was brand new (not fun to assemble)

@@robertsbushcraft I am a bit worried about reports that the frame were breaking in cold weather. I did find a short set of videos about mounting the FILBE to a Gen IV MOLLE frame, which apparently is much more flexible and not brittle.

Nice loadout man. I have much of the same gear. I run the ILBE and Goretex parka and pants and the woodland Modular Sleep System. The music and editing at the beginning and end was awesome. Is that Linseed oil that gave the Husqvarna Forest Axe it's nice color? I'm torn between that one and the Gransfors Bruks Scandinavian Forest Axe. I'll probably go with the Husqvarna Forest Axe tho, half the price and pretty much the same great looks and performance. Right now i use the CRKT Black Woods Chogan Tomahawk, but looking for more power to process bigger logs. I plan on upgrading my Silky Gomboy to the Big Boy 2000 as well. Throw in some Conibear traps and a gill net and fishing kit and you'd have a solid INCH bag. Thanks for another killer video guys.
Thank you for the well thought out comment! My Goretex parka and pants were in my Dad's truck during the time of filming, but I should have mentioned it in the video. After using the MMSS and the new improved USMC sleep system, I have found that I prefer the new over the old. The only con I have about the new system is that it is not very spacious. That is one thing that the MMSS definitely did right! This was my first shot at editing the video. Normally my Dad edits and I stand in front of the camera. So thank you for the kind words! The look I achieved on my axe was done by charring the wood with a blowtorch at a low heat, then coating the handle in Linseed oil several times over the span of a couple of days. I would recommend you save the money and go with the Husqvarna Forest axe. It is a fine woodsman's tool and will serve you well! And you won't be afraid to use it because you didn't spend $300 on an axe. I have considered switching to the Silky saws, but just never have. The Bahco Laplander has always served me well. But, I may give Silky a try. Thank you for the recommended items! I will definitely consider those. I can see how a trap and gill net would be very useful! Thank you again! - Gabriel

Great video! I Just ordered a Filbe bag...gonna order a sleep system next. Does the older 4 piece modular sleep system fit into that special bottom compartment of the Filbe okay?
The MMSS does fit in the FILBE.
The Eureka Apex 2 footprint/floor saver fits under the Diamond Brands TC2P perfect and fits in the tent transport bag as well. I thought you might like to know. Nice video. I've got some of the same stuff. Where's the Glock?
Diamond Brand makes a footprint for the 2 Man Combat tent as well. TH-cam is so restrictive about firearms so I decided not to show them, but only a representation of what Dad and I would carry. I do make a little money from the ad clicks and views and that helps me buy my gear and I don't want to risk losing the monetization and get channel strikes. We're considering creating an alternate channel for guns and ammo. I recently restored my granddad's old Norinco SKS that had been through a fire that burned my grandparent's house to the ground. It shoots true and looks great, I think he'd be proud. So, another channel for things like that may be on the horizon. Thanks for stopping by Ralph!
@@robertsbushcraft As an aside, I went through my Yugo SKS too. Got rid of all the grenade launcher stuff and put Tech Sights on it for the extra sight radius and did a trigger job, which I may say was pretty easy. Thanks for the video.
Great gear man!! Very similar to my gear! If you don't mind me suggesting some smart wool or darn tough socks..If you don't already own some you should check them out... They were a game changer for me! Also I try to have as much military issue hear as possible but I decide to go with the Tactical Tayor malice pack 3.. I love it but I'm very interested in the pack you have... Any thoughts on the 2 packs? You and your dad are very blessed my brother awesome videos and great gear... I've never seen the MALICE pack in person so I really don't have any working experience with it. It does look like a nice rig! My FILBE so far has done everything that I've wanted and it will have to be a better than average pack to get me away from this one. Dad and I get blessed with being able to find great gear at silly prices and that's allowed us to beef up our prepping. We do appreciate you watching, commenting and acknowledging the fact that our channel is family friendly.

For a "Bugout Bag" everyone should be taking a 2 man tent and doubling up because if you ever have to jump up and run, you usually can only take what you can grab and that usually does not include taking down and packing an assebled tent, so you guys only loose 1 tent per 2 persons.
That is our thinking on it.
What size sealline bag are you using. I have a few 65l bags for my ible packs but I just ordered a filbe to try out.

@Fieldcraft Enthusiast around the 8:40 mark you can see it folded up. It's just to the left of the rolled up sleeping mat and it has the manual release valve on it.

We have two axes and one hatchet and ZERO issues with snapping. I think those reviewers on Amazon may have gotten a bad batch of axes. Or the simply abused them and they snapped. It's hard to say for sure. I can say for 100% certainty that the ones we have perform and perform well!

Great kit, thanks for sharing. Have you or your Dad ever used a CFP-90 pack? got one a few years back, traded a Molle ll large rucksack for it at my local surplus store. Just wondering what your thoughts are on it. I also have the large and medium ALICE packs. I also have the patrol bag that attaches to the CFP-90. The pack can hold a lot and I like the Woodland Camo which is my favorite. I don't really care for Coyote, I think it would be good if you want to blend in with mud instead of the woods. I don't understand that color as well as the former ACU digital pattern. Maybe the military plans on fighting all it's wars in the middle east from now on. I guess the Coyote would blend in with the sand well...
ACU would probably work best in an urban setting.....concrete?
That ACU is a hard color set to get used to. Concrete or wintery type environment I can see it working well, other than that, your guess is as good as mine!

Saw a video with the ACU was dyed. It worked well. Only gets dyed once though. My concern with coyote in the Eastern woodlands is it looks like a deer hide. Coyote is a good base color though so adding green jute to the pack would break up the profile.
Kelty has a cache pack designed to move 5 gallon buckets. Maybe offload some of your ruck contents into buried buckets. Food, spices, cordage, ammo, etc in sealed mylar bags. Some homesteading tools to build a semipermanent shelter like a cabin. Some passive food gathering tools like snares, conibears, a gillnet, etc. Backup communications and battery equipment. Solar charger. Radio. Books. Maps.
Speed and violence of action are important in engagements. Without being supported by a large force, all that gear might interfere with rapid reaction to contact or wear you down to the point you're easy to track. Maybe some early warning trip devices? A silky saw would also reduce your noise signature of the axe.
All in all, a very impressive kit. And a textbook junk on the bunk. How much does that ruck weigh?
@@brettlaw920 coyote does look like deer hide to an extent and adding a bit of green jute would be just what's needed to break up the profile. You've given a great suggestion with the buried buckets and we are experimenting with caches like that. Adding a solar charger, (I do have maps of my area and US/world maps), snares, conibears, gillnets...this is the exact kind of feedback that we've been looking for! Depending on my exact loadout this can weigh anywhere from 40 to 70+ pounds with guns and ammo. It is heavy. The main pack alone weighs almost 9 pounds.

Good video but you forgot to mention how much does it weigh
As detail oriented as I try to be I leave out the weight! Typically the loadout is around 40 pounds and when fully loaded 70+ with guns and ammo. Our bugout test runs slow down quite a bit with added weight but the only way to see what I can carry to one of our locations is to load up and do it. Building endurance isn't easy but worth the sweat and effort.
I have one of these, but really would like if it was a bit taller and less wide. If anybody knows why did they design it so it was so wide and looks like a turtle shell on a persons back. I love the three day assault pack. I got the whole system since it fits together, but feel the main large bag just isn’t streamlined enough.🎉 have a blessed day and enjoy the outdoors as usual

It's a no-name belt that we picked up from a surplus store.

We bought ours from our local Food Lion grocery store. We had to take our Dremel tool and cut about an inch off of the top to get the pans to fit just right inside of the Stanley cup. As best as I can tell these are a pretty close match: amzn.to/2nlZ2Dq

To answer your question about the little rocket stoves they're the exact same thing. They're all Chinese all etechcity did was buy them in bulk and slap a name on them. Done with tons of items. You go on aliexpress you'll find them for cheap along with tons of items you see on Amazon just branded and sold for profit. I got that stove for 4 dollars the free shipping takes a long time though. Coming from China in a boat so a month or two. Dunno if that has been answered just wanted to shed light on why that happens. Mass produced bought for cheap branded and sold at a huge markup. It's a solid stove nonetheless.

Thank you for the effort in sharing your loadout. I would opt for lightening your load and even opt for a smaller backpack of equal durablity, since you want to be able to run and jump in move more easily and longer.. i found a bckpack in the 40 to 50 liter range the sweetspot for an allround survivalbag and mobility. These small 20 literpacks wont cut it. Bare Minimum 35 liters.

No, that mag came out of a Marlin 22LR with micro groove barrel.

This or the large ALICE pack?
Being that they both weigh about the same I am going with the FILBE main. Large bucket-style opening on top (same as large ALICE), additional zippered sleeping bag compartment, ability to add pouches, packs, and more, puts the ball squarely in the FILBE's court in my opinion. To top it all off? It's COYOTE BROWN.
@@robertsbushcraft I read that it can be used with an Alice frame... Have you tried that? I'm just worried, some complaints about th stitching on the shoulder straps.

@@no1up I've not tried it yet but I do see where it is certainly possible to use an ALICE frame with this main bag. As far as the stitching on the straps? I've had ZERO issues with mine, nor Dad with his. Keep in mind we don't sling our gear around on the ground and run over it with ATV's. That said, we load up what we need and hit the trail and have been doing so with these packs for quite some time now.
@@no1up this pack is also able to be worn/carried without any frame at all. It's a bombproof main pack of a three pack system.
