Thank you for this video. It's almost the only one available in youtube dedicated to that plane. I know you had sold this plane but I found your video quite useful to make an order. Now I'm a happy user of this small piece of bronze wonder.
Thank you Richard for a lucid and thorough presentation. Based on my need for this plane and on your review I bought the right-handed model (I'm a leftie) at the L-N tool show yesterday, On first use I love it. Now I'll review your videos to learn to use it properly.
When the plane is set for a very fine shaving, you should be able to improve on the accuracy you get from your jointer and get a polished surface. Using my engineer's square I can see no light. Glad you found the video useful, thanks!
Thanks very much -- this was clear and helpful! I'll remember those tips, some of which I could not have intuited. I had a very good chuckle when you said you'd deliberately planed the edge out of square, getting it very high on one side. Goodness, I don't have to do that deliberately -- that's my default! ;-) Thank you again --- Sue TR
I had a similar problem at first. Now I leave the cap iron untightened- with just my thumb holding the cap iron down- making it much easier to advance or retract the blade. Then I tighten the cap iron. Alternatively I use a small brass hammer for the fine adjustments. Lie Nielsen sell a nice one.
Very nicely done, thanks for sharing. If I ever get that plane, I'll know how to use it then. But for the moment I think I'll just stick to the shooting board...
Hi, I am having a very hard time with this plane. My problem is with the adjuster. When I align the slot of the blade with the adjustment mechanism, and have the cap iron lightly tightened, I can not get a smooth adjustment. Either the blade does not advance (maybe because it is no longer in the slot) or the action is very jumpy, and the blade advances too quickly. I would appreciate any guidance to correct this. Thank you.

Thanks Bruce, good luck with the plane- it's very enjoyable to use.

Wonderful demo. Lot of subtleties in using a hand plane.
Thanks
An excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to make and post it.
My Veritas Bronze Edge Plane looks almost exactly like your Lie Neilson. Thanks for the video...found it helpful.

Hi, it is a left block plane?

Thanks...I hope you have an extremely long shooting board for those long boards! :)
Thank you for the reply!
Nice tool man.. But the end result wasn't square
