the clutch is still holding on as of today surprisingly. didn't want to spend extra $ for a centrifugal clutch. just wanted to test a concept based all recycled parts. With a small weed whacker engine, not only you get a free clutch, it comes with throttle control, kill switch, gas tank. if clutch dies, just replace the engine. Gear reduction needs improvement. If we have time this summer, we may rebuild that component. We only spent $100 on this project so far (used razor + engine).
What was that, 3mph? My mini go-kart with a 25cc weed eater engine, with a 200lb adult in it, goes at a nice 23-25mph. That go-kart needs a sprocket upgrade, or the clutch replaced.
I was going to say it's exactly the speed I want for my kid.... but if the motor seems to have more potential and the clutch can't get it up to speed, you could try removing the clutch and push starting it, sprint car style.

It's running too rich - I made a go kart out of spare metal once and those engines can actually go pretty hard when geared properly, even with an adult
its slow as fuck because it need to be tuned for that much load it sounds like its still tuned for being a weed whacker. theres no reason to have to hold the throttle down like that to start any weed whacker but other than that he did a real nice job

What sprockets do u use for it?
Revving high constantly and going slow, maybe consider changing gear ratios

You need a better clutch and a lower gear ratio, all it is doing is slipping
What method did you use to transfer power from the weed wacker to the axle?
that's cool, I took a Razor Retro scooter and am putting a weed eater motor with a spindle drive on it.
I thought as soon as the engine would start p, the kid would be flying!!!! Oh well...
