I've got a '22 Rebel but I think this off road package is a great option for the Big Horn. It's almost a Rebel and almost as capable , but, less expensive. Bill from Linglestown Pennsylvania
I’ve got a 2021 Ram Bighorn 4x4 Off-road North addition. It has everything you mentioned plus weathertech type floor mats and block heater. I purchased it new in November 2021. A few months ago I had it leveled with Rough Country leveling struts plus added General Grabber 35s. Looks great and is awesome off road.
I bought my 2017 used in 2018 and was lucky enough to have every feature a 2017 Rebel came with that could still be had on an Express. The BW44-45 transfer case, limited slip rear diff, 3.92 gearing... and I had no idea until I started learning about off-roading afterward. Ingot super lucky.
I'm a 2021 ram 1500 big horn north edition owner and I love it it towes amazingly and drives smooth as a hot knife cutting through butter and it does really good off roading
The off road package comes with 32" tires, where the Rebel comes with 33's. I have a 21 Big Horn and upgraded to 33's right away. Mine also came with 3.92 gears from the factory. Now it's basically a Rebel minus the leather.
My Gen 4 tradesman came with limited slip, tow hooks, skid plates. Added 35"s, Bilstein, Eibach, and u.c.'s. Couldn't pass on the price then! Awesome truck with the suspension upgrades... Lake Havasu 🌞 Az
Thanks for the review! I have a 2022 Laramie with the OR package. Plus the 3.92 rear end and 33 gallon fuel tank. The skid plate on the fuel tank is massive! I really like the Laramie Southwest Edition package, the Level 2 and Advanced Safety Group. Cheers!
My 2019 had the off road package with air ride. It was a steal at the price. Never had a problem with the e locker or the air ride. With the air ride and the Off road package you were already inch higher from the factory so you did no get as much raise with the air ride system. The 3.92 gears came in my 2019.
Absolutely a great deal I got a 2023 ram 1500 lone star(big horn)in June with the 4x4 package, 3.92 gearing, night edition, 33gal tank, level B package(large 12inch center touch screen), and a few other goodies and absolutely gotta get that hemi especially since they are discontinuing the hemi. It sounds great and the power is awesome msrp came out to 64k and ended up getting it for 50k cause they had a bunch of incentives at the time also if you go on rams website and price and build, sometimes there will be a pop up offer for a limited time code that you show the dealer for $1,000 off sadly I don’t think they have the 4x4 package anymore tho
Thats an incredible deal wow especially now. Before the pandemic you could find good deals like that all the time but recently its hars to get dealerships to move at all on their prices
I just bought a 2023 Ram Classic 4x4 Crew Cab Midnight Express Hemi Package, Skid Plates, Wrangler Tires,Tow Hooks, rear sliding window. $45.300 cnd plus tax, shipping, 4 packages, Extended Warranty,$53.400 Total cnd. $18.000 plus in savings right now is the time to Buy.
The problem with rams website is that to package shit together they don’t let you do a la carte very easily. Doing off-road probably requires some other level up package and takes away other packages selected. It was very frustrating
Ya, I found that also. I believe you can order the off road package as a stand alone option but maybe for some trim levels they require additonal options as well.
Alex, at some point could you do a video on turbo chargers? When did RAM start using them? Which trucks have them, which trucks (RAM) don't, everything about them.
I mean yes the PW is the ultimate off-roader in the ram lineup but you do lose some practicality that a 1500 has. I think it this off road package is perfect for the weekend warrior!
I’m pretty much sold on the 5.7 Off Road package as a bird hunting rig, thanks for the breakdown. One question, for tire changing on a trail do you use stock jack? If not what do you carry in truck?
Does Ram give us better spring? higher spring rate? Cuz I need the truck's front to handle weight better. I read a lot of bad reviews of the Z71/X31 and FX4 's suspension
Can u get ur hands on a ram 1500 classic warlock. Would like to see the difference it has everything a rebel has with out the leather and sound system and price
I have the off-road package on my 2500 bighorn. I never had the option for a locker. I do have the anti spin diffs. It came with better shocks. Also, have the off-road screen and hill assist. Any idea if the HD trucks ever had the option for the locker?
The biggest downside to the off road pkg, is they seem to squat more than regular trucks. I know mine does. Also, the off road group is available on a base model truck, meaning you can build one for $20k less than a Rebel.
Bingo! This package will bring so very very close to what the rebel has. If you built a truck with 3.92 gears, off road package and the non 4wd auto T-case, you basicly have a ram rebel without the fancy stickers
@TheGettyAdventures My 2020 Bighorn, has the North Edition package. It included the off road group, minus skid plates, plus the sport group, minus the hood. Total cost, was $1900, which saves you $600 over buying them separately. I really wish I could've got the real t-case though. They only offered the 4 auto in my truck.
As crazy at it sounds. looks like the BW 48-12 part time 4WD transfer case (non 4 Auto wet clutch transfer case - the BW 48-11) will not be offered in the 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel. No option on Ram's website under "build" and a dealer confirmed it.
I have the 22 off road. Love the truck but wondering if I chose to change the shocks back to non - off road, would that affect anything other than a little softer ride?
It's a clutch pack transfer case. Works great for the average owner but any serious off-roading will overheat it. The reason is so you can have 4wd auto. I personally don't like it but I think alot of people like the ability to just have truck do the work and not have to worry about it
@@GettysGarage Having a clutch component is fine, pretty much all OEM's have some variant for their 4A systems I think. But any "4x4" truck w/ a Hi/Low should be locking center diff minimum. By that's just like, my opinion, man. Lol. Keep up the great content!
I have a 2007 Dodge 2500 6.7 Cummins. I replaced the LED headlights. I can not get the low beams to work. They flash when you turn them on and go off. Any advise would be appreciated
Led lights can sometimes cause havoc on traditional headlight circuits because they don't provide as much resistance as a normal headlight bulb would. Basically, there is not enough voltage drop and often times they don't work.
Nothing wrong with that! They still offer them. A limited slip diff is still a huge upgrade over an open differential and will help tremendously off road
The rebel is a waste of money.....same wuth trail boss from chevy......nithing you coukdnt do on your own or with pkgs.....and they rarely discount those trucks...... This an awesome value for $800
I've got a '22 Rebel but I think this off road package is a great option for the Big Horn. It's almost a Rebel and almost as capable , but, less expensive. Bill from Linglestown Pennsylvania
Exactly just a really nice option for someone looking for more off road performance

That is an awesome set up! Probably the best off road set up you can order those trucks in. Good to see it!
As a 2021 Ram owner, the truck, used in an offroad setting, is easily one of the trucks of all time.
... Best
Good to hear!
Going to test drive a 2021 tomorrow! Glad to hear!
This guy is really a fantastic content creator - his videos really are excellent.

I absolutely love my after market Falken tires on my 2021 Ram 3500.
They seem like very grippy tires! A huge upgrade from the factory racing slicks
I have the Backcountry that includes this package. Love it, main difference is the two tone paint.
But that two-tone paint looks awesome!
Awesome Job on explaining the different packages
My Gen 4 tradesman came with limited slip, tow hooks, skid plates. Added 35"s, Bilstein, Eibach, and u.c.'s.

Ya if you can get a 4th gen with a LSD it makes a massive difference!

Awesome set up! Getting the 3.92 gears with the OR package is a winning combo

Love that you have the 3.92 gears also. A very nice combo 👌
My 2019 Laramie Longhorn, with Off Road package has the best of both worlds
Rough Country 3.5 with 35MTs
&
All of the nice stuff on the inside too

Probably the most necessary option on those Rams would be the towing hooks, so you can get your mate with the Ford to tow you out😆
They are standard on f150 4x4 but an option on rams so I think it’s the other way around lol
Lol Idk fords tend to get hung up pretty easily 😅
My tradesman has the limited slip rear differential I love it
Makes a huge difference!

Ya, I found that also. I believe you can order the off road package as a stand alone option but maybe for some trim levels they require additonal options as well.
The Rebel has a Front and rear steel bumper. The front one is designed to give a better approach angle. No air dam hanging down.
Alex, at some point could you do a video on turbo chargers? When did RAM start using them? Which trucks have them, which trucks (RAM) don't, everything about them.
“I like that 1” lift” said by no off-roader ever xD . Great video tho super helpful and informative!!
so many 1500 options, and models. You do a good job of sorting them out. I still feel if dirt is your friend the power wagon is the way to go.
I mean yes the PW is the ultimate off-roader in the ram lineup but you do lose some practicality that a 1500 has. I think it this off road package is perfect for the weekend warrior!
Wow, that’s has to be the best bang for your buck option I’ve ever seen!😮
To be fair in 2024 its around $1200 which someone informed me but still a very good bang for buck
I have a 2019 2500 Tradesman with off road package. I like the way the blue and yellow shocks look, I don't think it has the hill descent option.
I’m pretty much sold on the 5.7 Off Road package as a bird hunting rig, thanks for the breakdown. One question, for tire changing on a trail do you use stock jack? If not what do you carry in truck?

What does the transfer case that's in the Rebel do, that the back country's does not?

You should get your hands on a TRX and do one of these reviews!
Can you please make a video on the the toyota tundra? I want one but im iffy on the new turbo engine.
How about a limited with air suspension?
Thought the rebel has a bigger lift. Personally, I would go the off road route.
My 13 outdoorsman would run circles around my 17 f150 off rd and in the deep maine snow
I could believe it! Where abouts in Maine? Im just above ya in New Brunswick! I know all about the deep snow lol
@@GettysGaragearoostook county just south of you . Only maybe 15 mins from the border
Non-locking center diff? What in the name of Stellantis cost cutting bullshittery is going on here? Lmao

Has Ram done away with the air suspension?
This package should be standard with all those goodies.
You would think but unfortunately not lol
Good review sir
Thank you sir!

The Off Road group now costs $1,245…2024 build. Still totally worth it. 👍
Very much still worth it!
My ram has a limited slip rear differential. But not the off-road
Nothing wrong with that! They still offer them. A limited slip diff is still a huge upgrade over an open differential and will help tremendously off road
Ordered a 22' witht hte night edition and off road group and a hemi. Truck was a Beast but the mpg was TERRIBLE!!
I’ve had 5.3 gmc, dodge 5.7, now I drive a 2022 ford 5.0 . Hands down I say dodge make the best. But they are all junk now a days
Lol you aren't wrong. All the manufacturers are trying to cut costs while making mote profits. The products ends up suffering
The rebel is a waste of money.....same wuth trail boss from chevy......nithing you coukdnt do on your own or with pkgs.....and they rarely discount those trucks......
This an awesome value for $800
Exactly, slap this package on a lower big horn model and you're laughing. Save 20k and get the same performance as a rebel
Would love to see a Toyota Tundra, or a Nissan Titan review! Also, maybe mid size truck aswell
All of that for $840?
Apparently in 2024 its going up to 1200 but still a good bang for the buck
Chevy trailboss still beats ram. Best selling trucks on the market
Chevys are like tampons. Eventually every pussy gets one
Rather have a true diff lock then the g80 any day
Trail boss looks good but the ram is just better in the woods
I mean maybe. But just on a price comparison the off road package can be outfitted to any trim.
You just don’t know how to drive
