I love Mr Make it Happen’s collaborations. He definitely knows how to put the spotlight on his guests and in doing so, not dull his shine. That meal was amazing.✨✨✨✨✨😉
I’m a Maryland girl and Marylanders are crab snobs because we’ve had the best. I’m always leery when someone who isn’t from Maryland makes crab cakes and calls them “Maryland style”, but seeing that you’re from a neighboring state, maybe you’ve also had the best and can get it right. Wishing you all the best.
I totally agree! I am not from Maryland but Virginia. However, I won’t even eat crab cakes here, we drive up to Baltimore or I make them based off a recipe from a Marylander.
Marylander checking in who has lived in 4 different states since i left, and agree am a crab snob and will always try peoples crab cakes when available. LOL
Hey family, I'm from DC, and my wife and I love Chef JR restaurant Kitchen Kray. So sorry it left the H St location. The catfish and grits is fanomanal. Seeing you on the channel makes me love it even more. I've made quite a few dishes from Mr. Make It Happen. Love yall.
i was 26 years old before I started to like chitterlings. I didn't like them as a kid, but when my Mom made them family would come over that I hadn't seen all year to get some. When I was 26 at Thanksgiving dinner my aunt and her daughter, my cousin got into a fight over the chitterlings about taking some home. I said, "I must be missing something." So while they argued I snuck in and took a bowl home. Theye were delicious. But have to be piping hot. And Mom's not here anymore so I try to remember her recipe. And I don't eat crab but am going to make these for my wife. She will enjoy them. Thanks.
OMGOODNESS 💕 💕 💕 Y'all should be sealing this dish up and shipping it to me! This is my all-time FAVORITE DISH❤ I'm a Louisiana Girl, and hands down, there's nothing better than Maryland Crabcakes. I want lump meat crabcakes. I hate going to a high-end restaurant paying a bunch of money for crabcakes loaded with more fillers than actual crab meat. Thanks for the pasta tip as well. No Chitterlings for me, I've never eaten them, but my parents and siblings love them.
I live in PA next to MD border...been making crab cakes for 50 years now and NEVER used cilantro..never will. And I don't like a lot of lemon juice in the crab batter, but I'm sure it was great with the pasta.
Same, I lived in my Baltimore, Maryland for most of my younger years & still visit my grandparents 3-4 times a year. Never heard of cilantro in a cab cake. I don't even like cilantro, so my eyes got huge when he pulled it out. I might have to substitute with dill or something 😂
I have eaten chittlins, but only when my grandmother was alive. It took her days to clean, then cook them. They were delicious with her potato salad, which was delicious as well. ❤
Damn that looks good! Chef JR-- FANTASTIC job! Your presence is chill & efficient! You got in there and got to work! And yes, those crab cakes were indeed GORGEOUS!
Looks delicious and I might try this recipe 🤩However, I'm from Bmore and have never had a Maryland crab cake with cilantro. I've gone to restaurants out of state and ordered the "Maryland Crab Cake". It had corn and other veggies in it. Not acceptable!! Lol. I would tell them this is not a Maryland crab cake. The waiter would say, "You must be from Maryland. We get that all of the time from Marylanders" 😂
Yes I wouldn’t expect a Maryland crab cake to have all them extras like celery, peppers etc in it that’s why it’s Maryland style… Just like I don’t want no green peppers in my Philly Cheesesteak but Mr Make it Happen like to play and do that tho 😂Yea same concept my guy
I cant explain how happy I am that mambo sauce is spelled right on homies shirt. If I see one more non-DMV person spell it 'mumbo' Im going to lose my mind 🙃
@@Only1QueenOfEverything Not gonna hold you I was wild resistant to it being made for everybody to get (like can it just be a DMV thing please) but I put it on some popeyes one time and the game changed 😂
Mambo sauce is a dc and southern md thing. Glad it is spreading hope it's not the wrong flavor cause the chef made a delicious looking lemon pepper crab cake that is not a Md crabcake sorry.
The sauce you get in the store tastes almost nothing like the mambo sauce I've been eating since I was a kid but it's not bad in its own right. If the masses wanna get down on it tho, I say go for it. 🤷🏾♀️
I'm Maryland and yes we are very serious about our Crab Cakes & Crabs. I love Chitlins but they are so dammmmm high in price. When you tell people who eat Chitlins that you are cooking some they will show up at your house.
What's the name of Chef JR's restaurant? This episode was fire. I'm not doing the fresh pasta but everything is 🔥. That sauce sounds like it is full of flavor. I just bought crab meat today. This is on the menu for this week. Thank you
They are good but KoKo's, By the docks and Faidleys are all better! They all have a little unique flavor but they are all definitely Baltimore crab cakes!
Love these recipes. I'm going to both of them. I'm from Chicago and can't wait to visit Maryland! I'm going to visit the Chef Restaurant that's in this Video! Thanks!
Yo JR. Looks delicious and thanks for the pasta lesson. I'm gonna make some fresh pasta. I have the same pasta press as you that I bought downtown Philadelphia back in 1986 for 38.00.
One thing you’re gonna learn about making MD crab cakes, main ingredients are Old Bay and mayo (hellmans for me), yellow mustard (French’s), egg and parsley. Everything else is by how the person was taught how to make them. Gotta use lump but lump and back fin is ok. Very little filler, we like crab not all the bread.
I was with this guy until he said people that think cilantro taste like soap need to grow up 😤(I am those people🤚🏾). Maybe he needs to do his research. I'm glad you corrected him...now carry on, cause those crab cakes and pasta look tasty 😋
The Maryland Crabcake Snob Phenomenon is REAL. We're born with it. I think he used too much lemon juice. Not quite enough Old Bay. The lemon pepper is not classic but im not necessarily opposed to it. Probably could have just used the Lemon Bae and left it there. It was way too much lemon juice. Also, we normally use parsley, not cilantro.
Maaaaannn, I didn’t know you’re from VA too! #757 I learned how to make my crab cakes from a Marylander & I drive to Maryland for crab cakes because I am snobby about them. 😂
I love chittlins but I don't eat them much. It's funny that people say they don't like them but last year the prices skyrocketed!!!! Chittlins were as expensive, if not more, than crab meat. I would love to have some this year...we shall see if the prices come down.
Here I will fix it for you. 1lb jumbo lump, 1 large egg, 1 cup heavy cream(no mayo), 1 cup panko, 2 tblspoon Old bay seasoning. Teaspoon hot sauce optional. Fold dry ingredients together mix wet ingredients fold wet into dry being careful not to break up crab(that part they got right). Heat butter in iron skillet on medium heat, brown crabcakes on one side then flip and put in 325 degree oven for 10 minutes. Enjoy. You can thank me later. Guaranteed the best crabcake you have ever had. ❤
If I was on death row, my final meal would be chitterlings. It's the complete meal that does it for me. Yams, black eyed peas, greens and sweet jiffy cornbread chased with my uncles punch. Don't forget a whole bunch of Louisiana Hot Sauce.
I’m the opposite of a crab cake snob so I volunteer as a tribute to try JR’s crab cakes vs everybody else’s crab cakes that’s complain.. This is definitely not just so I can eat more crab cakes
CILANTRO! Born and lived in Baltimore. But cilantro? Cilantro taste like something that starts with S but it isn't soap. But Mr. Make It Happen has never failed me sooo...
He is not from Baltimore he said Maryland the true home of the crab cake is Baltimore and anyone that lives in Maryland but does not get crab cakes from Baltimore still don't understand the true meaning of the Maryland crab cake. I am born and raised in Baltimore I live in Southern Md. now but it took 2 years to find a real Maryland crab cake in my area when i moved here and the same for properly steamed crabs.Unfortunately still steering the people from out of state wrong. This is not a Maryland crab cake it's a lemon pepper crab cake over pasta. The recipe still looks good I would try it even with the cilantro.
I love Mr Make it Happen’s collaborations. He definitely knows how to put the spotlight on his guests and in doing so, not dull his shine. That meal was amazing.✨✨✨✨✨😉

As a fellow Marylander, I am a crab (cake) snob….definitely! 👍🏾🥰😂
I totally agree! I am not from Maryland but Virginia. However, I won’t even eat crab cakes here, we drive up to Baltimore or I make them based off a recipe from a Marylander.

These crab cakes look perfectly paired with the pasta!
i was 26 years old before I started to like chitterlings. I didn't like them as a kid, but when my Mom made them family would come over that I hadn't seen all year to get some. That pasta and crab cake looks absolutely beautiful and delicious ❤ Thanks so much
I’m all in for a QUALITY chitterling episode 🤪. Cleaning demo too!
I live in PA next to MD border...been making crab cakes for 50 years now and NEVER used cilantro..never will. And I don't like a lot of lemon juice in the crab batter, but I'm sure it was great with the pasta.
As a Baltimore girl, born and raised, he lost me at cilantro and lemon pepper... but I'm going to try to see this one thru to the end 😂
Yep, not Maryland style with cilantro for sure.
It’s SMD to my knowledge. Baltimore has its own thing with crab cakes.
Never ever seen cilantro in none of my crab cakes. Nope. Where he from?
AGREE! Maryland gerrll here too. I have never heard of cilantro and all that lemon!
This meal looks so delicious 😋 Love Mambo sauce as well.
I love chitlins. I’m from GA and grew up eating them regardless of what they are. Long as they cleaned and seasoned, I’m in there 😂
I have eaten chittlins, but only when my grandmother was alive. It took her days to clean, then cook them. They were delicious with her potato salad, which was delicious as well. ❤
Looking Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I'm Making THIS, Mr Make It Happen! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Right! Then they shouldn’t call them MD crab cakes.

That’s what I call good homemade food fresh pasta and freshly made crab cakes it doesn’t get any better than that. Yummy 😋
I cant explain how happy I am that mambo sauce is spelled right on homies shirt. If I see one more non-DMV person spell it 'mumbo' Im going to lose my mind 🙃
Exactly! 😂 I live in Cali now and my family was so excited when we saw Capitol city mambo sauce at Target & a couple other stores!
@@Only1QueenOfEverything Not gonna hold you I was wild resistant to it being made for everybody to get (like can it just be a DMV thing please) but I put it on some popeyes one time and the game changed 😂

This dish looks delicious. I cant wait to learn how to make homemade pasta when I go to Naples, Italy next month.
Looks good! I love chitterlings, and enjoy fried liver!
Dutch Harbor Hunt Valley has got the best. HANDS DOWN!!!!!
They are good but KoKo's, By the docks and Faidleys are all better! They all have a little unique flavor but they are all definitely Baltimore crab cakes!

What temperature do the crab cakes go in the oven?

Couldn't find JRs channel link in the description, could you please send it? Was a great video
I wish someone was handling me that scrumptious plate for lunch right now! When you cook it, I know it’s the best….
Creole mustard: 100% spot on + Old Bay.
I love chittlins but I don't eat them much. It's funny that people say they don't like them but last year the prices skyrocketed!!!! Chittlins were as expensive, if not more, than crab meat. I would love to have some this year...we shall see if the prices come down.
how do you prepare the crabmeat? do you rinse it off? or etc.
Here I will fix it for you. 1lb jumbo lump, 1 large egg, 1 cup heavy cream(no mayo), 1 cup panko, 2 tblspoon Old bay seasoning. Teaspoon hot sauce optional. I’m on it Chief, Gratitude 🫡
Enjoyed the video..where did you get your pan???????
Dipping his gloves in the crab batter and then touching his mouth twice with those same gloves. Nah, I'm good.
Omg! I was like what’s happening
If I was on death row, my final meal would be chitterlings. It's the complete meal that does it for me. Yams, black eyed peas, greens and sweet jiffy cornbread chased with my uncles punch. Don't forget a whole bunch of Louisiana Hot Sauce.
What lump crabmeat would be the best to use??
Eggs are better as a binder you get more crab out of it then bread . When your use bread you get less crab .
Yesssss
Your channel is 🔥
I’m the opposite of a crab cake snob so I volunteer as a tribute to try JR’s crab cakes vs everybody else’s crab cakes that’s complain..
This is definitely not just so I can eat more crab cakes
Where do get the pasta machine? And I’m looking for the crab and pasta recipe?
CILANTRO! Born and lived in Baltimore. But cilantro? Cilantro taste like something that starts with S but it isn't soap. But Mr. Make It Happen has never failed me sooo...
I love cilantro but it doesn’t belong in crab cakes.
YUK! Sorry. I can't stand the smell or taste.@@bkzepp
