Writing your name as a preschooler is no easy feat.
It takes work, dedication, and the right writing activities from you, their preschool teacher.
This is why, today, I’ll be sharing some super fun (and super easy) name writing activities you can do with your preschool students.
But before we start, let’s address the elephant in the room, shall we?
Writing is one of those developmental milestones that’s individual to each child, and that means that not every child will benefit from the same activities.
This is especially true for younger children (3 years old and younger), who cannot objectively learn how to write their name until they’re much older.
However, for 4 to 5 year olds, the activities in today’s episode are perfect.
All right, are you ready to learn more?
    Tune in now!
    Key Takeaways:

So I have watched your other previous video about teaching kids in all caps then moving towards lower case cause it easier and works. I don’t think you answered the question unless I missed it how you determined if your going to place students names in all caps or not? I notice that some children names were in alls and others not. So I was wondering in the beginning of the year do you do an assessment to determine this or how do you determine which ones to place in all caps? Thanks for all the information I feel more encouraged and know that I am teaching in a correct good format.

The name cards I showed in this episode were just models used for the purpose of instruction during this video. I think the most important thing to remember is that writing and recognizing are two entirely different skills. The child can see the print in the world around them in both upper and lowercase. It's only when we ask them to write their name for the purpose of instruction that they would need their name card in all caps - in my opinion. You can have name cards of both styles in your classroom, just put the ones in all caps in your writing center or provide them during any activity that requires writing of names. hth
