the first way is useful but how can we adjust the thickness of the line?

I don't think you can adjust the thickness using the first method; instead you need to use the second way and change the thickness from the "Borders & Shading" options.

Hi Bhagyashri -- There are a few different ways to do this. I think the easiest way is to do your typing first and then afterwards go to INSERT/ILLUSTRATIONS/SHAPES and choose your shape (such as a circle). Modify the size, colour, borders, etc. of the shape and then when you click on it go to SHAPE FORMAT/ARRANGE/WRAP TEXT and choose "IN FRONT OF TEXT". This should allow you to place the shape without it interrupting the flow of text on the page.

How do I edit the length of the line?

If you need a line to be a specific length insert it as an object or create a table and use a single border.
