Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. I really appreciate it. My major problem is that I love tea and coffee. I have greatly reduced my consumption of both since starting Invisalign treatment a little more than 2 weeks ago. What I do now is prepare my tea, and let it cool. I also prepare a meal. I eat the meal and drink down the tea quickly during the meal. I still get some of the unique taste of the tea, and that is acceptable to me. After my therapy is over, I can return to savoring tea slowly, over a half hour or more. For now, I make myself wear my aligners at least 22 hours a day. The TrayMinder app helps me a lot with this. Without it, I would not be so disciplined.
I’m so guilty of teeth jiggling. I take my aligners out about 6 times a day. 3 meals, 1 snack, 1 coffee and 1 tea. I’ve tried to lessen it but I’m so hungry throughout the day because of nursing. I hope that doesn’t affect my treatment too much.
I normally wait at least 30 minutes to brush my teeth after eating a meal. I recently just got Invisalign and was told to wear them for at least 22 hours daily. Is it fine to still wait 30 minutes after eating until I brush my teeth before putting my Invisalign back in? Thank you in advance 🙂
Great question. Unless you ate something sticky/sweet, rinsing with water vigorously is fine. That way, you can achieve your wear tome goals. Of course, consult with your doctor to see if that’s their advice.
i actually had to stop using whitening toothpaste and cut out teeth whitening altogether. was too abrasive on my teeth so now I just focus on gum health since that's where it really starts for healthy teeth.
I usually have a coffee after my meal, but because of the 22 hour thing, i don't see how I can wait 30 mins to brush my teeth so i generally brush my teeth straight after my meal and coffee. Is this ok? I'm 6 weeks in.
An orthodontist told me not to wait. In the long run it won't make any difference. It's more important to keep the trays in for the recommended 22+hours/day. I personally drink all drinks (except hot) with my trays in ONLY if I can immediately clean them after drinking the drink. Getting the Dental Pod was the best choice I ever got! Keeps them amazingly clean!

I'd recommend adding more protein and fat to your meals. High carb such as noodles, breads, etc. and only vegetables, like salads, will leave you feeling hungry. Eat more chicken, pork, beef, etc. or more eggs, cheese, etc. But mainly eat more nutrient dense foods like those and less carbs! You can eat all you need for day in 2 meals if you eat a good portion of meat.
Hi 1 of my buttons came of the tooth can I place it back on the tooth, or does it go on a specific place on the tooth when originally inserted by the dentist
My orthodontist said that I could still drink coffee by removing my trays, take a sip, put the trays back in, and repeat, as long as I followed the 20-22 hours per day wear time, and less than 45 minutes of having the trays out at one stretch. But with the 'jiggling' you mention in the video, I think that may be a bad idea.
@@lauren2551 My ortho told me I could use soft soap to clean the trays, however I only use water, because I don't like the idea of getting soap chemicals in my mouth, even if I rinse them thoroughly. I was searching for an all natural cleaner without any luck.
@@TrayMinder Yes, I've been drinking coffee in one stretch. It's been hard to remove my trays even after the 5th tray. I might mention the difficulty of removal to my ortho and see if he can grind down the aligners if it does not adversely affect the process (which I suspect it might).
My orthodontist told me I can use a straw to drink iced coffee (no hot drinks) as long as I am good at avoiding it touching the aligners (only back of mouth).
I just got my Invisalign put in today. I started dieting a few weeks ago. Is it okay to drink lemon water while wearing the Invisalign’s? Thanks for your time.
I was told waiting 10 minutes after eating/drinking was enough time to wait before brushing teeth. Is that okay? 30 minutes seems like a long time to wait to brush them given you eat 2-3 times a day, and you have to wear aligners at least 22 hours. That leaves only 10 minutes each meal
Great question. Dentists advise waiting to brush for acidic foods and drinks. Another option is to rinse with baking soda mixed with water to increase the ph.

Great question! Many patients, especially students, drink water as a way to rinse their mouths after eating. Once they get home from school, they will remove their aligners and brush. Consult with your doctor on their recommendations.
Mam my teeth has yellowish and even aligners have yellow stains Mam if we use electric toothbrush to brush our teeth with lots of attachment is it fine or normal tooth brush is fine for teeth
I read rinsing after brushing your teeth is not recommended, does this also apply to when you are using invisalign? Also using a mouth wash after brushing is not really recommended. So would you even recommend using mouth wash while the invisalign treatment? Or is it maybe something you can do when you don't have the possibility to brush.
According to Colgate.com: “The Mayo Clinic recommends using mouthwash after brushing and flossing your teeth. However, the National Health Service (NHS) recommends avoiding mouthwash right after brushing, since this may wash away the fluoride from your toothpaste. @@TrayMinder Thank you :) This is really confusing, so I guess I just spit out the tooth paste to leave the good stuff on my teeth and use mouth wash before or at different time
I don’t think it makes a big difference either way. The only toothpaste that they ask you to spit out but not rinse is a high concentration of sodium fluoride like Prevident.

Hi Dr. Bailey, I brush and floss my teeth everyday and I also brush my aligners with a mild soap. Do you have any suggestions on how to better clean off the stain around the attachments' perimeter? I also noticed a few scratches on my teeth after I started wearing my aligners. I'm not sure what the cause of that is, perhaps from removing the aligners? Can my teeth be fixed from the scratches?
Some patients have found that certain foods and drinks can be more staining. Toothpaste with peroxide is good for combating stains, such as Crest 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste and Whitening Gel.
@@TrayMinder Thank you so much for the information. What about the scratches that i have noticed on my teeth after wearing Invisalign? is that something that my dentist can fix? i'm afraid that it could be permanent.
Most people (including me) have very minor fracture lines on their teeth that they’re not aware of until they focus on their teeth during treatment. Enamel is an extremely hard surface and it’s unlikely the aligners can scratch them up. Get it checked by your dentist and see what your options are.

It’s best to leave your aligners off when drinking anything other than water. Some patients wear their aligners an extra day to “make up” for the difference.
When Im at home and take them out to eat 3 meals a day I then floss and mouthwash and pop them back in then pop them out 30-60 minutes later to brush my teeth. Would this be jiggling or ok? I just feel doing this routine maximises my wear time rather than waiting with the trays put to brush
It’s best to take off your aligners when drinking anything other than water. Many people wear their aligners for an extra day to “make up” for the difference.
As long as you rinse your aligners and trays afterwards and you’re not lingering on the beer (but who enjoys warm beer anyway? Drink it while it cold!). In all seriousness, it is best to remove aligners while drinking and eating anything except water. Beer does have fermentable sugars that dental plaque with bacteria use to turn into acid that can cause cavities.
Most dentist say no but not all. It depends on how much later you rinse. Many cocktails have sugar. Here’s our take: th-cam.com/video/zaUOFvp0O00/w-d-xo.html

Hi there is it normal for you gum to feel loose or somewhat detached in between my two front teeth? im on tray 3 and I was thinking that it had to do with the teeth moving therefore the gums will move and reattach once the tooth is in it’s final place?
Hi Dr. Bailey,
I brush and floss my teeth everyday and I also brush my aligners with a mild soap.

Try some remineralization drops. I swish with these every night.
Do we have to pay for a tray minder Invisalign account app
No, you can download TrayMinder for free.
@@TrayMinderI download the app an create an account to sign in. Then Invisalign called my house to call back if I want to start an Invisalign treatment
TrayMinder is not affiliated with Invisalign. TrayMinder does not require any sign ins. Download the free TrayMinder® app today to help you get better results from your clear aligner therapy: app.trayminder.com.
@@TrayMinder I went back to check, and the app that I actually download was My Invisalign, which required to sign in. So that might be why Invisalign called.
Sounds about right.
Mam and my teeth were yellowish before also
Ma'am I take out my Invisalign 4 times a day to eat. So is it necessary to immediately brush after every meal? Really confused because if I don't brush the plaque build up there
Sometimes a vigorous rinse with water is sufficient. It really depends on your diet and whether the meal was acidic. Consult with your treating doctor for their advice.
Question: if I wear my aligners 23 hours a day, can I then take them off when I drink on Fridays? I usually drink from about 7pm till 2 am. I then put my aligners back on after drinking. OR..can I wear my aligners while I drink? I drink beer mostly. :) Thanks!
Great question. It doesn’t sound excessive.
What about partying for 4 hours during Invisalign treatment? Drinking alcohol 3 times a bad thing?

@@TrayMinder I’m about to change to my 2nd aligner in a few hours. What I notice is when I wear them, it makes my teeth look a little bit better
Ok I didn’t now about dat
I drink beer with my aligners on. Is that a serious issue?
As long as you rinse your aligners and trays afterwards and you’re not lingering on the beer (but who enjoys warm beer anyway? Drink it while it cold!). In all seriousness, it is best to remove aligners while drinking and eating anything except water. Beer does have fermentable sugars that dental plaque with bacteria use to turn into acid that can cause cavities.
Can i drink liquor or a cocktail through a straw and then later on rinse my mouth out?
Most dentist say no but not all. It depends on how much later you rinse. Many cocktails have sugar. Here’s our take: th-cam.com/video/zaUOFvp0O00/w-d-xo.html
When I go out I’ll try to only drink clear liquor. I’ll drink soda water and clear tequila or vodka soda. Then when I get home I’ll clean my aligners really well I use this denture cleaner called efferdent and clean my teeth. If you happen to drink a cocktail/ liquor that isn’t clear just make sure you clean the aligners well and your teeth. I feel like the doctors main concern is developing cavities and staining your aligners.
@@samanthabattaglia4398 Is Efferdent good? I got a retainer cleaner for my aligners but they have not stained so I was going to reserve it for when they do stain
@@AmyKoopa so sorry for the late response I don’t know why this is just informing me. I’m on a 7 day aligner switch. I typically during dinner will soak my aligners in a non scented dish soap and warm water in a cup daily. Towards the end of the week I’ll use the efferdent once a day. I really like it. It’s affordable and comes with a lot of tablets. I highly recommend it. I also like to try to brush my aligners with toothpaste and my electric tooth brush towards the end of the week as well!
@@TrayMinder how about a vodka soda?
Orthodontics want Invisalign users to wear the aligners for 22 straight hours a day, and an worldly day only has 24 hours. Is there a possible way for a human being to have all their required meals, and then brush/floss after each meal in only two hours?🤔
It’s definitely a challenge! Best of luck with your treatment.
How slow do you eat? Of course its possible
unless youre eating a horse 2hours is more than enough. Have food read before you remove them, eat like a nomral person and not taking hours and then brush and put them back on
Who sucks on lemons 😂
