I did my first retwist yesterday using the super gro hair gel and I love it! My retwist looks so shiny, neat, and moisturized. You made a great point that water and oil doesn’t really last when retwisting your locs. I’ve tried doing that and my hair just puffs up even though I tie it up. I think using oil and water for a retwist should only be used for touch ups if you have a loose curl pattern.

Good tips. I kinda feel retwist aren’t really meant to last. They’re more for style and preference of the look, since hair only locks about an inch from the roots. I don’t retwist due to my preference (sometimes I’ll twist my few smaller locs. I’m semi freeform). I do admire the look on others (as long as they don’t over twist), it can make for nice cylindrical locs. I just know yours will be 🔥. They already are 😍.

Hello I have a question. So if you don’t rettwist will the new growth loc on its own? Or does it depend on the texture? I want to semi free form but idk if my new growth will loc as it grows longer if I don’t retwist it. I’m four mos in and I retwist monthly. Your opinion please

This made me feel so much better! I re-twisted for the first time after two months and I wore my durag and bonnet to sleep!
I also sprayed my hair everyday😭
    I didn’t know!!!
And I used aloe Vera gel and it flaked so bad. My scalp was also soooo itchy. I put my jojoba oil but I needed to wash it.
So all in all, the re-twist lasted about two weeks!
I think now I know it’s okay for starter locs to unravel and moisture is a no no! I hope my next one will last longer!

I’m so glad I have a tighter curl pattern. I go to the gym often but I wear a swim cap in the steam room. I still get lots of moisture from that. I also wear a shower cap in the shower. Luckily it hasn’t unraveled on me 1 month in on my journey. I get my first retwist in 3 weeks. I wear a bonnet at night.

Thank you! I'm a year and one month in and challenging myself to learn how to do my retwists on my own and I followed your retwist tutorial and noticed that it didn't last but I realize it was definitely the product I used not being a strong enough hold. Ordered Nappstar's super hold gel for next time so hopefully it'll last a bit longer!

I'm scared of product too so I try to keep it simple and natural and use the items my loctician started my coils with. 4mos in and they're doing great. Water and oil didn't hold for me, it just moisturized my 4c hair, I wanted a heavier product, that's why I'm trying nappstars', we'll see if it's a good purchase after I try it.
      Bless

Flat locs can come from laying in wet locs, so if you wash your hair and don’t allow it to fully dry before you lay down it can cause the loc to become flat. There are videos on YT to fix flat locs in its early stage.

I have a looser hair texture and started getting two-strand twist when I get my retwist. That helped a lot and I can wear it for a while. Some loctians charge extra but it’s worth the extra money cause you can go less often

Hey there! Awesome vids btw, they're very helpful for my loc journey, I'm 4 months in, 4c med/small coiled starter locs, color treated before install. I literally got my nappstar loc gel package today and retwisted my front row as a test and girrlll 🔥🙌🏾. I washed it last week and retwisted with aloe gel + uncle funky marshmallow based gel in the pump bottle (forgot the name lol) and my crown area has kept twisted at roots, but my perimeter unraveled. It was a new experiment and it did pretty well. The Marshmallow base isn't thick enough for my 4c hair and the aloe gel isn't "tacky/sticky" enough, but those 2 together are quite nice... but BABBAAAYYY, this front row retwist with nappstar is just e v e r y t h i n g!
    👀
**Product questions from your experience using nappstar:
♡ Have you noticed whether or not this product builds up over time?
♡ Does it prevent the hair from being moisturized (dry gel texture on hair and hands makes me curious)? I like that the gel isn't greasy at all! It has "grip"😄
♡ ....Do you find the hair remains moisturized over the following days/weeks after retwisting with it ?
♡ Do you retwist with nappstar on DRY OR DAMP hair or on both -bc I find that When I dampened my hair I didn't get a great grip to retwist the front it was "slippery", I don't manipulate my hair when it's dry. The instructions didn't mention dampening before application 🤔🤷🏾‍♀️ What are your thoughts on that?
-- Thank you in advanced and thanks for your lovely vids🧡🌻!

I got my first set of lics last week Monday. It was 45 at first. There was too much space n all that. So I re did them myself. Bare in mind. The first time I comb my hair other than up in a puff with shoelaces will be the last. I've trippled or doubled my hair. I haven't counted for the mere fact that I finished last night. It shrunk no biggie

Um what do u think about sulfur 8 or zimmi neutralizing shampoo.
Um I live in Jamaica. St. Thomas too be specific n um.... Yeah most of y'all products don't even exist here. I can't do shipping considering I'll prolly go to prison for fraud n they don't buy overseas things like shampoo that's needed just some load of crap.
      So my opinions are limited

Nice content Dez, love your videos. Your clients with retwist lasting 6 weeks, are you speaking of no unraveling at the shaft and the root? What about new growth? I’m one week into my 2nd retwist and it’s still holding but my shaft is frizzy because I only twisted my roots. I used ORS lock & twist gel for the first time and I tie my hair down at night with a scarf. I also only spray my hair daily not my scalp with Rose water and oil. I’ll have to try the gel you mentioned, 6 weeks would be nice. I just figured out the oil is what was making my scalp itch 😩. Blessings to you 🙏🏾
