Exciting stuff, checking into another country for the first time on Gemini! We love watching your journey. Lopez Island is a cool place! What a great choice for a wedding venue.
Super cool video! I've sailed most of the gulf islands in my youth. I picked up a project boat in Victoria about this time last year. I spent a week at the same Sydney marina while I waited for a weather window in early January. We were headed to a moorage up the Fraser River). That moorage was a dud (rafted to another boat, not power, no water, no internet, VERY expensive, and run by an old grump) so I brought her down to Point Roberts (half the price and with all the amenities you could possibly want) in the spring. Her summer was spent on the hard; but now that she is back in the water I'm looking forward to seeing the San Juan's! I haven't found a ton of content on the area.
The Gulf Islands we’re incredible, we have TONS of footage from our time there. What kind of boat are you refitting? Glad to hear Point Robert’s was a better fit, I’ve heard good things about the community there.
@@TwotheHorizonSailing The community in Point Roberts is GREAT! Everyone on my dock is super friendly and helpful. The marina pub has some weird hours, but great food, and I have never been short a good conversation there. My old girl is a William Garden design built by Bayliner during the 70's energy crisis. She is a Buccaneer 305. The internet is not that kind to the Buccaneer line, but she is a well built girthy girl. We won't be winning any races; but she holds her own and is VERY comfortable!
Great display of the San Juan Islands, which are now on my bucket list. Yeah, I think “over and out” is just for the movies. “Thank you, this is Gemini standing by on 16” is the way radio folk expect you to finish.
One could spend a lifetime up there and not get bored! There are so many tucked in anchorages to check out, not to mention incredible hiking, paddleboarding/kayaking, fishing, etc.. We couldn't see it all in our short time up there, just means we will have to return one day!
I guess that if not a new sub, a fairly new sub. I have watched most of your videos and really like what I have seen so far, will slowly watch the rest. FYI in radio speak "over" is you telling the other person you have finished talking and are waiting for their response back, "out" is telling them you have finished talking and are NOT waiting for a response, you are going to stand-by. It's not a big issue except to licensed radio operators, who it drives nuts lol. Looking forward to your trip around the island, and congratulations on on your up coming big day. Take care, be safe and sail on.
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching our adventures, it’s so fun sharing it all with you! That’s a helpful way of thinking about the radio communication, for some reason when talking to official people on VHF we get a bit flustered 🤣 Stay tuned, this is just the beginning of so many incredible adventures to come!
The San Juan's are a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing it with us.
They are truly amazing. We were very glad that we chose to go North first to experience such unique cruising grounds!

It was quite exciting to cross into Canada! Lopez island turned out to be the perfect place, just our vibe!
How delightful! I miss my "Genetic Pacific Northwest" luv your kitty, thanks for sharing, "fair winds and following seas"...
It truly is a magical place! We definitely couldn’t see it all in one summer - just an excuse to make it back there again some day!
@@TwotheHorizonSailing oh yes "magic is in the eye of the Imaginer" I can close my eyes and smell the salt air, can't wait for your next passage...

For weather reasons, could you confirm what month this was.
We left SF Bay April 1st, making it to the San Juan’s by end of April if I remember correctly.
