Hi. I can't follow written patterns, so I started to watch TH-cam videos from different people, all woman. But I must say, the way you explain, does make it so easy to understand! Thank you from the Netherlands.
I JUST LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. THIS ONE IM GOING TO MAKE A SCARF. I REALLY LOVE THAT YOU EXPLAIN EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO WITH A STITCH.
Thank you for the clear instructions...I love all of your tutorials.
Yay for learning new stitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Darlene, the instructions on our website suggest you can use a H hook 5.0 mm or an I hook 5.5mm for this project or larger for your afghan to qualify for the challenge...sorry for the confusion ;) -Cathy@ The Crochet Crowd ;)
I LOVE this stitch!! I'm a beginner and i thought it would be extremely difficult, but it's the easiest thing ever! Right now i'm making a cowl with this stitch and I love how it has already turned out.
And thank you so much for the crochet in back loop of the chain trick. Amazing!!
Thank you, I love the way you explain everything. It has helped me learn so much!
This reminds me of a mile a minute afghan. I will try this will the shells a different colour.
I'm in love with this square! I started a few rows and thought it would make a real pretty scarf!!! Thank u Mikey ;D
I like everything you do you get snack stuff and you post that on my phone now so I can go see it
I've started using the back for the single crochet whenever I can. It does look great!
this is very easy and beautiful
really i like it
thank you
I LOVE YOUR WORK THANK-YOU.
I just tried this and am in love with this stitch. I am using a size J hook so mine is a bit bigger than what the pattern calls for. Can't wait to see the finished sampler afghan.
I love this sight. Omg it is amazing.
Love this one the most ,works up really well :)
i would have to admit i didn't like watching your videos because i thought you were going to too fast and being new to crochet, i had to watch other videos to understand but i really do like most of your videos and i kept practicing and more i watched your videos the more it came easy to understand and now i more obsessed with all your videos, isn't that strange lol! keep up the good work mikey!
Thank you for all the video tutorial :)

Love this stitch thanks : ) Keep on crocheting : ) toni g.
I will like to make a easy baby blanket
can he do a tutorial for the border on this pattern? having problems understanding it. thanks
Hola Saludos desde Puerto Rico. Me facina como explica con voz calmada. Espero poder mandarle retratos de mis proyectos.
Wow! You are an excellent teacher. I love it. Can I make squares and sew them together. What else can I make with the squares?
I love this stick but I don't know how to add the border once I'm done
this is a beautiful stitch and good video but I would've liked to see how to finish it off to get a straight edge.
If I wanna make an Afghan, how many should I chain? Thank you for doing an excellent job on explaining this pattern!
Could u show how u joined all the diff types of stitches projects into a large blanket?? & how do u know what size to make each size square to fit the rest of them??
Hi. Beautiful stitch. Can vegrigated yarn work for this.
I am using this stitch to make a baby blanket, it is so pretty. only thing is it is rolling as I work it. hopefully the more it grows the less it will roll
Hi Mikey thank you for your clear instructions!!! I just made a scarf out of it looks beautiful!!! I want to use the bernet blanket yarn do u think it will look nice
I want to make a crocheted yoga bag. I could probably use this pattern and just stat off with more stitches (the length of the rolled mat) and then proceed from there? Maybe make a flat circle to stitch into the bottom when complete and then lace the shell pattern together? Any pointers for me, I'm new to crocheting.
Mikey starts from a chain so that's the stitch count I need. is it multiples of 8 plus 3 plus another stitch for a turning chain?
loving the tutorials but can you confirm that for different stitches you use different size crochet hooks?? maybe i am missing something????
Help please
love your tutorials, clear and you always manage to clarify what is needed. Just FYI, it's not pronounced Excetera it's pronounced and spelled Etcetera, that's why the abbreviation is Etc. Thank you!
Hey guys. What would be a great yarn for this like you mentioned. Id like to make gifts out of patterm. Thanks
Great job in explaining the concept. I just completed about 12 rows and it looks wonderful. I could not find in your videos how to end it so I can use it in a multiple patterned blanket. Please post how to end it or tell me where I can find instructions. Thank you.
I'll have to look for a link for that. I know it's part of Red Heart's one project. Looks like the link is showing the next year's stitch-cation and not the one that shown in this years. I will look around.
OK. Thanks for checking.
I'm trying to remember the name of the original afghan where this is pulled from... need a brick over the head to jog the memory. This about 4 years ago.
Found it... stand by... I am pulling the article from archives and putting it back online. Michael
Found it here: thecrochetcrowd.com/stitch-cation/
how do it finish this square?
Mikey, I am sorry, I am new to crocheting. But when doing the front post, you come in from the side? Correct? Not going completely behind the post?
What yarn brand and type are you using? If I was to buy American yarn what brands wld you recommend or not recommend? We can't get nice multicoloured yarn in the uk. Have you ever used bamboo yarn or yarn from china?
What's the stitch count if I want to make a blanket with this stitch? What other stitches wld look good done as a blanket?
Hi Mikey, can you tell me how many rolls for the squares on stich-cation. I have watched them and must be missing it but i don't hear were you say the row count. please and thank you
I am trying to make the border on this and the written pattern isn't very clear. Is there a tutorial for finishing each square?
Are there written instructions for these squares? Thanks :)
Can anyone tell me the multiple stitches required for a large piece?
Does this have to be blocked? Have you any nice blanket/afghan/sampler/motif patterns to make a blanket and any good baby patterns? I've 22 blankets to crochet and I'm in hospital at the minute. Been in 8 weeks. No wifi here so have to use phone data to go on here.
What are the finished block size? Thanks
if I wanted to do this in an entire afghan, what are the stitch multiples? Or how would I figure then out?
+Sandy Butner hi did you find out what the multiples were please
no
+Sandy Butner - Not sure if you found this out or not but I also wanted the dimensions for a larger afghan - this is what I found out:
Hi Vicki, Thanks for your question! We worked out the stitch multiple, and it is a multiple of 8 +3. This is just for the stitches. If you are starting from a chain, you will need to add extra stitches for turning chains. We also wanted to make sure you know that this fabric is stiff and heavy, so it will be a very warm afghan and take a lot of yarn.

Does anyone know if the multiples are correct 8 + 3?
For some reason I can't find out how many rows for each square.. help
what is the multiples to make an Afghan?
Teresa Goodridge checking to see if I write it down.
I’ll have to hand draw a crochet diagram to figure that out.
Teresa Goodridge I’m drawing a diagram now. It will take a bit. I’ll report back in a bit.
8+4
thank you! can't wait to use this for a full afghan
this is beautiful but you could do a video on a American flag with the granny Stitch I seen it on TH-cam but it's not got a video and I can't read directions thank you
does anyone know what the beginning multiple is on this ? for making other projects with same pattern such as a small blanket what is the beginning multiple?
Kami Welch , I counted 11 chains for repeat.
He. E matts
just to note, I'm doing a circular pattern so I am NOT turning and doing front post throughout the pattern.
ten rows done and not holding yarn tight and it's still wanting to curl in. what's going on
i just ended up using a "H" hook.
This is driving me nuts! I've been watching the stitch-cation videos, and Mikey has been saying that a 5mm hook is a size I, but in my experience it is not. A size I hook is 5.5mm and a size H hook is 5mm.
godt
Just looking at this makes me terrified. Will post a comment once I have done it to let you know if I succeeded.

And thank you so much for the crochet in back loop of the chain trick. Amazing!!
