Just a little advice, take it if you want it. If you go AM I strongly recommend assisting your fellow AD’s and getting your training on power plant systems, especially if you go Seahawks. I say this because anyone looking for work outside the navy you’ll need an A&P. You can work without one but it’s the difference of pay that will motivate you. The only way to get that power plant certificate through the FAA is to have power plant experience. I was an AD and got my A&P before getting out, I had a couple guys that were Airframes and didn’t get the power plant training while they were in and didn’t qualify for both airframe and power plant certificates. Just a little heads up! Good luck out there shipmates! Remember, be an asset to your command and get those quals! Hit the deck plates running!
