B.A.S.E. jumping the Eiffel Tower vlog#5

  • I decided to share never before seen footage from my Eiffel Tower jump. It's a bit odd looking at footage from so long ago and the quality is horrible :) But it was PAL and the tapes are 17 years old, so I was kind of happy I was able to get anything off them at all. It was super weird finally going through all that footage after all these years.

    Jeb, you are the only person who has inspired me in my life. BASE jumping saved you, and in ways you saved me. I first came across your documentaries in 2008, I was going through some very dark times and I related so much to everything you said, you helped me find some hope and purpose in life. My passion is motorcycles, I also love to conquer fear and push the limit, I dream one day of BASE jumping too. I don't know if you'll get to see this, but thank you for inspiring me so much.

    What blows my mind about Jeb is people have sang their last good byes only doing a fraction of what Jeb pulls off in his stunt and the guy is still alive and breathing today after so many run in's with close calls, i don't know if its just pure skill or just being extremely lucky but its impressive none the less ... I started skydiving in 1976, and still skydive today at age 70. That being said, I'll guaran-damn-tee y'all there's no power in the known universe strong enough to force me into base jumping off the Eiffel Tower, nor any other base jump for that matter. I get my fill of thrills jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft at 12,000 feet thank you very much. No longer free fall either. A quick hop & pop, then a leisurely float to the Drop Zone.....or at least within a mile or two when distracted by the awesome view.

    I've watched quite a few of your videos. I organised a tandem jump with my son a couple of months ago, but he was too drugged-up and spaced-out to do it. I did it with my youngest son and daughter. It was an amazing, exhilarating, fun-filled event.
    I've booked another tandem for my troubled son, my youngest and myself in the hope that it will provide some therapy for my son and change his outlook and his life. Next spring, my youngest son and I are considering doing AFF.
    Thanks for this and other videos as you and they are inspiring. Thank you!

    you're an inspiration Jeb! last week I partook in the stage 1 of AFF skydiving course and when the time came to jump out with my instructors, I felt the same fear you felt but sadly I couldn't bring myself to jump out. That's why I am mighty impressed and inspired to overcome my fear. I'll do a tandem jump first before trying again my stage 1 jump. I hope to be like you one day, even if I dont do skydiving and base jumping, I hope to be as courageous and awesome as you sir! #respect

    One of the key things for me in watching any of your footage (be it old or new, and one that keeps me coming back) is the enthusiasm in which you discuss how it's come to have a positive impact on your life. The behind-the-scenes footage and process and preparation that goes into something like this is of course...the icing on the cake! The raw emotion however is where it's truly at! I think your attitude and passion above all else far exceeds the jumps in of themselves and is the most inspiring, not just for base jumps or wing-suiting but for all facets of life. Truly remarkable, thank you for sharing your stories.

    • @nerblebun
      @nerblebun 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Tommy Lundy: I'm pleased to answer your question Mr.Lundy. The gentleman who designed & attempted the first parachute jump off the Eiffel Tower on Feb.4th, 1912 was Franz Reichelt. Reichelt was an Austrian born French tailor also known as the Flying Tailor due to his successful innovation's of early parachutes for which he used weighted dummies to drop from his 5th story apartment; however, after his highly publicized jump of 187ft. from the first platform of the Eiffel Tower went terribly awry, resulting in Franz splattering his internal organs all over the cement below due to sudden deceleration, he became known as Flat Franz or Bloody Red Reichelt.
      I sincerely hope this clarification has been of value. In the future Mr.Lundy, feel free to ask me anything, anything at all. It's what I do. I get high, and I know things.
