I appreciate the honest and thorough review and the fact that you put it out there that your Spitfire guy. All wait-and-see on these wheels in my area I’m finding the Spitfire 97 radials are working for me. Also in my experience with Spitfire the 80 HD wheels aren’t as soft as others that were a similar duro. IME spitfire does better hard wheels. Now if I ever get to try the 93 spitfire, I’ll give it a go, but I don’t know if I’m gonna be spending more money on a new set.
I’m reviewing these now also and TOTALLY agree about the sound and feel of these VS dragons (so far) - I can’t stand how the dragons are so quiet and DULL sounding and are BOUNCY too compared to a harder “feeling” wheel the dragons stick more too in my opinion dragons are great for a board that is primarily for cruising the neighborhood but you also want to be ABLE to get tricks in if you happen upon a street spot so far SEEMS like these 93a spitfires- can truly be on an “everything” board crusty spot ✅ skatepark ✅ cruising ✅ great video just subbed - keep up the good work 🔥🤙🏼🛹
If they put them out in a Radial Full or Conical Full I will likely get them. I have 54mm 97a Radial Fulls and they're pretty dope. A 54mm 93a Radial Full would be everything the 97s are good for and more.
I looooooooooooove these wheels so far, the only problem is, idk why but when i skate this one specific street spot with a small ledge, every time i tried to do noseslides or tailslides, the wheels kinda stick so i have to wax the side of the ledge for the wheels to slide better. I tried skating a different street spot with ledges they slide no problem at all. I really want to try out the bones x97 or x99 but idk which one to pick cause i like the softness but i want it to slide better for sure while doing noseslides, etc. So x97 or x99's? but i am sticking with these for awhile before making that jump.
Gots some arriving tomorrow was worried about them but you convinced me they will be a good investment. Would love to hear how they do on smooth surfaces. Maybe even skatelite and masonite. Just hope they are not crazy slower on slick surfaces
glad you're gonna ride them for a while because DF wheels definitely change over time, so it's worth seeing if these do as well. maiden voyage impressions (after a couple years of Green Dragons) - definitely faster than Dragon Formula. these 56s are noticeably faster than Green Dragon 58 mm handle vibrations, rough stuff, small trash like Dragons but don't feel as "numb" more rolling noise more normal slide sound (though Dragons change from quiet whizz sound to something in-between as they break in) gonna do some noseslides today
The Dragon Slayer 😂😂 🛡️🔱⚔️🗡️🐉 Got so me spitfires classics 54mm 97A duro's on ice. So used to 99A & 101A duro spitfire f4's. Not going softer. Always throw away your thrash 🔥
Great vid! I’ve been riding these for a week and love them. Curious about how you’ll like them on metal coping. Mine stick a little on round coping but not a noticeable difference from like a 97a.
I ride the Bones X97 and also tested the dragons ... and ... the X97 feel the same as the dragons 93a ... I am confused 🙃 ... next wheels for me: soft sliders ! 😊
What I really need to see is the same shape and diameter version of the dragons compared side by side... It kinda seems from videos that the spitfires are harder than them, which is actually what I want since I always wished powell would do a 95a of them or something.
I have both the dragons and spits in 58mm 93a. Even with the spitfires having a larger contact patch than the dragons, the dragons are smoother on rough ground.
It would depend on so many things, but if you're skating mostly rough ground for an extended period of time...sure you may see minimal gains with endurance and fatigue. Do I think it's significant enough to make that claim, probably not. Haha.
I definitely agree with you that sound matters, but I think theres just general sound difference between bones VS spitfires. I always felt bones had this hard clacking rocky sound to it that almost felt unnatural, while spitfires just sound more…correct? 😅 Just wondering how you think these slide compared to the x97’s. I had dragons for almost 2 years and then recently switched to x97 mainly for a bit more slidability. I do miss the softness tho, so if these slide as good as x97, it’s a win in all categories for me.
there is no substitute for the 99s especially in the park. however, the softer wheels are for the streets which is what most people do. I don't skate at the park all day, when I can just hit the curb down the street. Spitfire diehard.
If u watch moose video from a while back I tryed it theres a putty u can get at home depot it's in a tube about 10$ we used it on our local curb becouse where I live there's not alot to skate and it actually helps u could fix that curb and itll be smoother
@@KevinNiceTry the one I got its at home depot I'm in canada it was 11$ called dates fix a stick I belive it's a super solid product my curb was in super rough shape and it filled the cracks nicely but cars drive into the curb and destroyed it all
The best is to set up two boards. One with Dragons and one with Dragon Slayers and compare. I’ve not set mine up yet. But planning to do so shortly. I just hope I like them better than the Dragons because I recently went back on the Dragons and sessions felt so much better on my feet during and afterwards. But if they are a bit better on the slide I’d sacrifice some comfort for that. Not too much though. Also I don’t want to ride Peralta wheels. So hoping I like the Reynolds. Soft Sliders is obnoxiously unedgy branding though 😂.
You’re actually a really good skateboarder I like that tail slide 270. Those wheels are garbage though I have some. I may do a giveaway for them. So much worse than regular formula 4s.
i did the exact same test with the exact same wheels myself and i like the 93a for everything except the skatepark and going over cracks i don’t like the “thud” sound. i never tried the dragons though.
I’m 49 you need to not tell people what they need to get their groove on. If a wheel does what the dragons do but gives someone a different element they love you sound mad saying otherwise. I have 7 Dragons and now 2 of these. One on my wife’s board and one on the way. The honest truth is I haven’t skated them enough TO FEEL A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Being Dragons the best wheel on the market that should tell you something. If they perform like Dragons with a traditional sound then what exactly Sir are you on about?
Just to clarify I ADORE DRAGONS. His review IS SPOT ON. They feel like Dragons and the sound is irrefutably better. So I don’t know if you are a brand loyalist or quality loyalist but it’s a coin flip honestly and even though I have custom dyed Dragons I have no shame in saying it’s a tough dilemma
last two weeks i bought a spitfire 101 conical street formula new set, the firts day, totally flat, useless. I went to the shop and the gave me anoter identical set, and... the same i Think spitfire is overrated and i dont think im gonna buy them anymore, there are really good alternatives out there.
Fun Fact: Andrew Reynolds has been skating Powell 93a Dragon formula wheels for months leading up to the release of these Spitfire 93s. Both are a great choice, i just prefer the🐉formula graphic wise, other than that no difference
Great review dude. Jim is a nice guy. So seem you! I'm getting a set today.
Good review of size and basic on flatground tricks to grab the right timing on each one
Tail slide 360 was so clean sick review I love spitfire
Thanks

You end up getting them?
Hi Kevin…I’m enjoying your shows!! Was wondering if you use bearing spacers?
I do not use bearing spacers. Thanks for watching!
looks good. anything like these or the dragons or those && nanos are perfect for north east streets

I have both the dragons and spits in 58mm 93a. Even with the spitfires having a larger contact patch than the dragons, the dragons are smoother on rough ground.
I also bought the soft sliders in the radial and classic shape and both feel very nice and better than the dragons i tried.
what about the "easier on the body" claim?
It would depend on so many things, but if you're skating mostly rough ground for an extended period of time...sure you may see minimal gains with endurance and fatigue. Do I think it's significant enough to make that claim, probably not. Haha.
Isn't rating the sound that they make while sliding about the same as rating what the wheels smell like vs. Dragon wheels?
No
If these are different than the f4 it would be cool if they made them in other duros like the x97 and x99.
I imagine they will eventually
f4 already has 101a 99a 97a variants. it's not different it's a new f4 but 93a.

I feel like they do sound soft, but that’s compared to the 99a, and it’s expected. question is, do they sound better than the dragons?
Definitely. I stopped skating the dragons mostly because of the sound.
@@jimmyhuang8730Exactly!

Opo
Dragons have a place but they caused some slams if your trusting the grab of a spitfire

I need new wheels BAD, I’m too embarrassed to even say what type of wheels I got, but there bones 😬
i did the exact same test with the exact same wheels myself and i like the 93a for everything except the skatepark and going over cracks i don’t like the “thud” sound. i never tried the dragons though.
Bark is too hyped. Quiet sleek and stealthy is way cleaner
You don’t need bark. I’m over 50, skaters adapt. That’s a stupid reason to not like a wheel.
The sound of my board is important to me. That's why I talked about it in the video. If it doesn't bother you, that's awesome.
Trippin, needs that bark
I need that bark

Did this dude only skate the dragons for 5 minutes? Cause after you break them in, they do literally everything they said they didn’t lol
2 months. I skated them for 2 months. Like I said in the video, it wasn't my preference. Lol.
Bark!? Shark bite. Dog bite. I'm 51. Leave that barking black dog of the past behind you😂
