      New Zealand's backs are very, very good - especial Portia Woodman, Ruby Tui and Stacey Fluhler. If England let the NZ forwards have parity, NZ will win. England have the better pack, but the ball retention needs to be a step up from the France game. England are certainly well capable of keeping a lid on the NZ pack. Go Red roses!!

      It's very true. Here in South Africa boys will be playing rugby as soon as they can hold a ball but most girls will practically never touch one. School girl rugby and the like is pretty much non existent so some more focus and introducing the sport in schools would definitely change things up. Would be interesting to see the results. Props to England for the win, tough lesson for our girls that's for sure.

      They've introduced a new ball for the competition, both kickers and hookers have been complaining about it. Great for kicking from hand because the flight characteristics make catching more difficult, but awful off a kicking tee. My understanding is that it feels too light. Hopefully the more they use it, the better it will be.

    • @1Molehill
      @1Molehill ปีที่แล้ว

      Harrison's kicking has been very hit and miss at times over the last few years, that's why Scazz normal does it. Even during open play, when she's struggling to accurately kick into corners, you'll see Hannah Roland run up from the centre's position to take it for her.

    I hesitate to question the referee's decisions. However, there was one incident of head to head contact in the early part of the match, where the SA player injured her chin. This was not investigated by the officials. Also, I think that the yellow carded SA player was extremely lucky to be given only a yellow, as she was rising into the point of contact with the England player. Neither of these incidents had a direct influence on the result of the match, but if we're talking about player safety, I think this bears investigation. As for Sarah Bern's yellow - it was justified, so no beef there.

    • @pauljamison3340

      The quality of refereeing has been poor at times!! Those woman deserve better!! There was one incident where a player got a shoulder to the head, the ref said it was low impact so it was only a yellow, the player that was hit failed a HIA so it must have been fairly hard!!! Then there is the shocking decisions and ones missed around the rucks and mauls!!!

    • @thomassaunders901
      @thomassaunders901 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i completely agree there was an early incident where a south African sprinted in and effectively head butted an eng player during a tackle but it wasnt looked at. Also the rule in rugby is any shoulder to head contact is a direct red card so i found it weird that the ref said the first SA yellow card was passive? that is incorrect. Also the sarah bern one to be fair was actually probably a red card which is what the first south african yellow card should have been.
      So i think south africa should have had two reds and eng have one red because in the mens game and womens six nations, any contact between the shoulder and head is straight red.

    • @okbutthenagain.9402
      @okbutthenagain.9402 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thomassaunders901 No, thats not quite true. Any contact to the head by the tackling player is viewed as a red. But. Then r mitigating circumstances are looked at by the referee etc. (Player already going to ground for example). If there are none. Then yes its a red card. But if there are mitigating circumstances the referee can downgrade the card to a yellow.

    • @thomasmain5986
      @thomasmain5986 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1Molehill The reason they kept it tight was the French were on the hunt, any English player isolated would be stripped or concede a penalty, so working in pods was the only option, kicking the penalties, and a bit of variety 5 yard's out would have yielded a better score line, with the French making some 220 tackles and the English 80 or so, that scale of dominance should have been translated to point's. I doubt the French will have the same game plan, when they play England again, I suggest they will blitz just like the BF's and I guess Australia, England's main strength is with their forward's negating that advantage will be the focus of all the team's left in the competition.

    my only gripe with the world cup so far is the refereeing has been wildly inconsistent. any head on head or shoulder to head contact has to be a red but they seem to only give yellow cards out.

      Why most people don't even know they are playing. I'm a huge rugby fan, but have no interest in the women's game.

      There is a ZERO culture of girls rugby at school level.
      Many of those players is in the team to fill the quota of SARU and the corrupt ANC.
      My hearts breaks for the few girls that is playing well, the rest is in the team to fill empty seats.

      The game in SA is a disgrace for rugby, not the people playing clearly. I think back to when the NH men's teams were stuffed for years because they were semi-pro vs the SH pro men's teams.
