Pretty sure this is the first command zone gameplay video I’ve seen where Lady wasn’t playing a deck that contained either green or black
Yeah. Although, there’s probably some reason for that isn’t there.
Also the only one won with a thoracle trigger?
It’s also the first episode where here hair and makeup are actually done well

Just a thing of note.
At 24:25 Ashlen gets rid of her Sylvan Library by shuffling it into her deck before the boardwipe. Then, later in that same round at 26:33 , Lady makes everyone mill 2 cards with Overwhelmed Apprentice, and the first card Ashlen mills is the Sylvan Library.
She tried to get rid of it by shuffling it in her deck, and ended up having it on top of it. It would´ve been her next draw.
I think she was tryna get rid of the card(s) that were already on top, and Library was the card she was most willing to lose in exchange.
As someone who almost exclusively plays mono-white, I’m excited for this!

I’ll say it: going in to 2023, white stands alone better than any other mono color. Removes anything, has the second best ramp, and has plenty of solid or better draw.
@@EnemyToad second best ramp is colorless, which everybody has access to. I feel like green will always be the goat of mono colored, it literally does better than a lot of color pairs alone
Guardian of the guildpact would have been nice.

I don't like being negative, but watching Gaurav go off on turn 1, establish an entire engine turn 2, and gain a near-insurmountable lead turn 3, then REPEATEDLY smack down the least-threatening person at the table, had me going "How could this match be any less appealing?"
Then I saw the ending, and thought, "Oh, that's how."
Yeah this ended up being pretty bad. Leave Thassa's Oracle in CEDH and out of these fun casual edh games that we watch.
So the person that he kept attacking was Ladee right
I kept wondering why he kept attacking ladee. Then she Thassa oracled the table.
He did his best to smack down the most threatening deck.

Thank you to Ladee for trying to give Jordan a chance to play... Gaurav went way too hard too fast and basically stopped Jordan from playing at all. It was rough to watch.

Rachel weeks coming to command zone is the best thing to ever happen to me! Her deck ideas are amazing, she’s absolutely hilarious, and hands down my favorite MTG personality!!!

Without even watching the video, and knowing how much more powerful is Azami compared to the rest of the choices, I predict an easy and expected win for Azami with Mind Over Matter + Thassa's Oracle.

@@Wauly the 7 or 8 CMC spell which gives you permenates or extra turns (dont remember what its called), blue has a few of these deck out cards, one of the jaces, oracle and lab maniac. could also have won this game by having literally any creature with "tap deal 1 damage" as that's infinite targeted damage. scepter + reversal is just insanely powerful and at least in my friend group it's banned, honestly oracle wasnt the issue this game (although it definately is an extremely powerful card) it was purely the easy infinite mana + super powerful commander in command zone compared to the other decks commanders
@@delathenleso5793 house rule we've had at my pod: if someone wins the game and there's still 2+ opponents at the table, they keep playing for second.
Cards that simply say "I win" tend to be very anticlimactic

Of course it’s dramatic. In the way that people complain about the combo, they make it as dramatic as possible.
Yep, ppl finish a game saying “good game” but it’s really, usually “I’m going to kick and scream then cry you all a river if I don’t win”… Wish ppl wouldn’t play if they can’t be good sports about who wins and how…
Plus it’s JUST A GAME, you’re *only* losing a game, not your life, possessions or freedom over it… Geez..

This didn't feel like a normal episode, it felt likes Rules 0 / decks weren't discussed before hand and there was a very big difference of what everyone was and or wanted to play.
Oh yeah. It's a very weird episode.
Played out a lot more like most pick up games of EDH though. The format is inherently broken. The only semblance of balance comes from players' choice to intentionally handicap themselves in a regular playgroup.
pretty sure extra turn episodes regardless of the theme they do is just their own decks, so if you build a green deck that is "big dinos only" you can still include gaea's cradle or manavault if you own the cards
at least thats what i've seen from them, extra turns just seems like their decks with whatever power they put into em
rule 0 never works unless you ask how a deck wins and what combos there are
Cool game but didn’t feel like Ashlen or Jordan really stood a chance all along they should do a regame where ashlen and Jordan bring slightly more powerful decks or the other two bring slightly weaker decks

Nah, Ashlen just got really mana screwed and couldn't get off the ground. I think if that wasn't the case, she would've done much better.
@@Smutter86 tbf ashlen's deck also would have been way stronger if she had Reki, History of Kamigawa in the command zone instead of her 99. I get that she wanted to accept a challenge to try to win w/ esika, but Reki lets you bury your opponents similarly to how azami does.
Jordan casts exsanguinate for 33 and says he might have finally stabilized only for ladee to go infinite and win the next turn is hilarious to me
I didn't even think about that until now, also she "gave him a chance " with her win con in hand lol

Man two of the commanders were very weak and close to unplayable, the other two just had a power struggle the entire game until somebody won

Nothing hapened in this game besides daretti until the blue deck comboed with thassa's oracle. Not a really fun one
Yeah… would have really liked to see mono black spellslinger. Daretti was cool to see combo, but very underwhelmed by the ending. I was wondering why they didn’t show any of her win cons on her deck breakdown…

casius does it alot. i think melissa de torra comboed in her game at the very beginning. Josh comboed on prof and wedge with edge walker. It happens alot. Its just this one was just anti climactic since none of the other colors have much ways to interact. She recovered from alot of hate but it shows that mono blue and azami in particular is just a wee bit too powerful even if you put the constraint of "only females" on it.
It's permissible on Extra Turns but not really on Game Knights.

Oracle wasn't the problem this game. A 100 other cards would have won the game there leading to essentially the same game. The combo is the thing you should be frustrated with
Thoracle is really getting tiresome. I've all but stopped watching cEDH games with blue in them as 9/10 games end with a Thoracle win. It's fun the first couple of times, but seeing it dozens of times over is getting ridiculous.

Bringing Scrap Servant to a mono colored table is basically putting Tball players against hall of famer MLB players

I love Daretti, super fun Red commander that works like a Black reanimation commander but instead of reanimating creatures Daretti brings back artifacts :P
After all the "Connive" dances, I feel like the Esper are the expert Lawyers who get laughed at on the dance floor.
This has permanently changed my view of the guild.

And that's why infinite combos (especially something so easy as Isochron-Reversal) are such groaners. Long fought game that then just feels invalidated when a player wins out of nowhere.
The more I see of Rachel, the more I fall in love with her...she's hilarious, has a fantastic flair for style and makes sweet plays...a great addition to the team!!!

I have seen the majority of these episodes and this is literally the only one I've guessed right. I saw the commanders showcase and guessed who won right off. I feel like I learned something 🤣 woo! Win one out of hundreds of losses for me.

Commander is a FFA, not Solitaire, so you must run interaction to win
@@shogert2370 you can have interaction in the deck but you have have it the turn everything needed hits the board against the main interaction color. This was just a case of standard blue draw wincon.

Wow, amazing. Ancient Tomb, Mana Vault, and Thassa's Oracle are good magic cards? Who could have guessed. Next time y'all should play underrated gems like Korvold, Deflecting Swat, and Urza lord high artificer. I know they seem bad but with Gaurav's skill, they could be good.

I was rooting for lady all the way until I saw Thassa. DX
I used to the broken pact when it was on. I knew gaurav, Ashlen, and Jordan all ended working at the command zone over the course of that show. It’s fun seeing astorok, tutturu, and Lucian back in action. Even if it is playing a different game

He should have saved the vandalblast. He knew the isochron scepter was coming at some point but he decided to blow his answer when he didn’t need to.
Although I adore to see Ladee on the show. I think she and Guarav ruined the game for many viewers. I knew either Daretti or Azami was gonna go off at some point.
If the powerlevel of the decks where better matched, this could be fun video.
Tutors galore and Thassa's oracle... Definitely showing the issues of modern commander
She had infinite mana and was able to draw her deck. Thoracle literally didn’t matter - it could have been any win at that point. Having issue with thoracle consult in casual sure maybe but this wasn’t really Thoracle being problematic
Eh. Depends on the deck. She could draw out, but she also needed to finish that turn otherwise. Mono Blue doesn’t usually have burn or haste. So if she played most of her creatures/bounces all the creatures/or such she’d be still waiting to swing/prone to a wipe. She’d need to take extra turns, mill, or something to end it. They didn’t show her other win cons in the deck preview though.
What are the issues?

That card has saved my ass more times than i can count. I really wish we would get 1 new set if Split Second cards at some point.

Not really a thassa win, many cards would have won the game there. It's more the combo that you should be frustrated with.

I love everyone from the command zone podcast and special guests. But Ladee is definitely my favorite, I would love to be friends with her.

Can we get an episode where there's no Infinite Combos, no Taigas or other insanely priced cards that almost no players can/want to afford? It's disappointing not seeing two of the four decks get to do anything because "oh Thassa's Oracle, I win"
Oracle wasn't the problem this game. A 100 other cards would have won the game there leading to essentially the same game. The combo is the thing you should be frustrated with
First - use proxies, especially now, when Wizards dare to sell you 60 of them for 1k$
Second - the fact that you don't use/like some cards means nothing and noone should ever limit themselves based on than, but only on official ban-list

As someone who winces if I so much as drop a card on the floor* that bit at the end nearly gave me a coronary.
*then proceed to spend the next 5 minutes making sure I didn't drop more cards, which of course will have slid under a couch or dangerously close to the nearest rolly chair.
I learned that lesson too: if someone is a menace, cyclonic rift before they untap
I think that if the kono black player kept his removal for azami or the red player turned azami into an artifact and killed it with a vandal blast this could have been quite the game. Exsanguinate was too early even at 10 imo

This episode sucked. Doing an infinite combo in a group of players you know people are using mono-colored decks... Of course they don't have a way to interact. What is black going to do at instant speed to answer an artifact? Red has what, two cards (Chaos Warp and Wild Magic Surge) that could have dealt with this and that's it (and mono red can't draw cards as fast as blue in order to get those cards)?
Red has a lot of cards that could have stopped this. It has tons of artifact destruction. I feel this channel just plays very little interaction.
While I think thassas oracle is super lame, to be fair daretti would have most likely been a combo win also

We all know that Jimmy would have loved to be the red player here.
Powerful monocolored decks, figures nobody was brave enough to play white.
I have to say Lady was very anoying this game, i started skipping the Ledger Shredder triggers because it felt to me the bad kind of fake thats put on for the camera. Apart from that it also ended to soon in my opinion, the two decks that I was most intrested in really didnt to anything which is sad but its how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
i made a joke 5 color decks using Esika that i called "the endgame". Its a full on legendary ramp deck that wants to find maskwood nexus and the world tree. Use the world tree second effect to put all gods from your deck into the game, and because of maskwood nexus, all creatures are gods. Cue avengers endgame soundtrack and win.
Its pretty terrible but really funny when works.
I did the exact same thing when Esika was first released!

She discarded an Omnath?! That would fix her mana problem if she isn't drawing lands. Slow yes, but still could build up into something.

Same with card kingdom. They never have 100% of the cards I need for a deck, and their prices are often above what TCG player has and by not small amounts sometimes.
