    At the 4:40 mark, there is a manatee swimming next to the temporary work bridge.

    Thank you for these videos. My son is working on this project and this allows me to visualize what he is doing.

    Thought this was Melbourne Australia until I saw the lack of overhead electrification and new grade crossings. A TH-cam suggestion to me.

    Good Afternoon I would like to take some timed lapsed photographs of the Brightline project. Do you know when they will begin building the tunnels near I 95?

    Where are the train stations going to be located?

      By the time the Orlando line opens, they will have stations in Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and Orlando.

    With a road running parallel to the railway, would it not have been cheaper to just close the crossings off ! (question from health & safety mad UK)

    It would be possible to have a temporary trestle at eau gallie bridge

    • @RoamingRailfan

      There will be a temporary trestle there

  • @arrowlogproductions2509
    @arrowlogproductions2509 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Having two temporary trestles per bridge seems very wasteful. Why is it that they are able to build the temporary trestle without the need for extra platforms but the train bridge needs the trestle in order to be installed?

    • @RoamingRailfan
      @RoamingRailfan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      It all has to do with the lifting capacity of the crane. The temporary trestle is very light in comparison to the main bridge since it is made of hollow metal tubes. Because of that it is able to reach farther with less counterweight required. The actual concrete pilings are so heavy that the crane boom needs to be essentially vertical to be able to lift them. If it had to reach across everything the amount of counterweight would need to be tripled or quadrupled and the temporary trestle would need to be significantly stronger to hold that extra weight.

      Fortunately it was never as bad in Brevard County as it was in the counties farther south.

      That's the case with all rail projects, it's a shame 100 wealthy homeowners wanting to "keep their home value and way of life" can delay and make a project cost tens of millions more.

      The NIMBY's were scared of 2 things : #1: The Trains blowing their horns for 30 seconds as they crossed a intersection & #2: Having to wait more than 2 Minutes in their cars at a railroad crossing gate! OMG this is going to happen 16 times a Day !

    Nice to see some level of Progressive thinking in Florida.

    • @xoxxobob61

      We need this throughout most of Florida. The drive between Orlando & Miami on I-95 is beyond absurd now with the traffic especially in South Florida.

      @@xoxxobob61 I agree. Rail throughout the state. It should have been built in the 1970's Florida is just about the worst state to drive in. Far to much population and visitors. Lack of adequate freeway systems. What roads there are are primarily tolls. I'm actually surprised to see this rail being built in Florida. Not a state that really impresses me.

    • @connecticutmultimodaltrans8226
      @connecticutmultimodaltrans8226 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well this is a 100% private project, no state funding. Florida has a disease towards public transportation, it's sickening. They're incredibly car-centric, that's the issue, not inadequate roads, it's just everyone drives.

      @@xoxxobob61right! it's really difficult when the development is so sprawling. I will say Jacksonville is trying hard with their bus system and it shows, it's fairly good
