Let me start by saying .Thank you for doing this IU reaction.
That being say however, IU is not deaf. She is in fact mute and thereis important and reason for that, but it doesn't have anything to do with the story line. Here is the evidence that demonstrates beyond all doubt that she is mute and not deaf.
• When they stop on the path to catch their breath IU is the 1st to react to the sound of the cube passing overhead head.
• Inside the building as they are looking around at the scene before then IU and V both react at the exact same time to the sound of the cube above.
• IU is wearing a lip ring to show that it is her speech that is the issue. Note that when viewed through the len of the camcorder the lip ring is not present.
• During the Wedding scene IU has a microphone and is singing, more evidence that it is her speech not her hearing that's the issue.
• IU is the first to respond to the presence of the cube at the wedding scene also.
Now why it is important. IU has been dealing with an ear issue for almost 2 years now. The tube from the inner ear to the throat isn't closing. Staying open can cause discomfort and even pain and it prevents you from hearing yourself talk or sing in that ear. Which is a significant issue for a singer. Any live performance of IU's over the past 2 years you are likely to see her remove the ear piece from her left ear because it is causing a problem for her. And she didn't want there to be any rumors or speculation that she was sending a message that her hearing was getting worst.
But because IU uses sign language so many jumped to the conclusion, for some reason, that the need for sign language is only because of being deaf. When in fact the use of sign language is equally useful to a mute person. And they ignored all the rest of the evidence and intentional effort to communicate that her speech is what she has lost.
The video also highly suggest that V's sight and IU voice are the result of injuries incurred during this period of fighting for survival.
I also find it interesting that most many people get so hung up on the cubes. What they arevwherevthey came from etc. I always laugh because it I ever had the misfortune of encountering one, are any of those questions really important? I think not. What they are doing and the fact they appear to destroying all of humanity is all I need to know.
What I find interesting about the whole video is that it allows everyone to interpret it anyway they feel, how it affects them personally. There is no bog standard "This is what it is and there is no other explanation", in fact I believe that the director made it so, so that people can form their own opinions. I'm not going to criticize or challenge 'Your' opinion if that is how you saw it, or read it online if that is the case. The only point that I would disagree with is during the wedding scene when IU is holding the microphone, at no point is she singing, in fact she waits for V to come over and he sings to her. No pun intended, but people should be allowed to think outside of the box if they see the story different to you.
I hope you find someone who matches well with you. Remember, no one is perfect 💜

The romance they created is so wholesome and innocent, which makes their circumstances and their inevitable demise all the more painful. Their temporary moment of happiness was so beautiful and they look so in love. Tears were inevitable 🥺💜

I strongly disagree. It's much better to pause, think, and speak instead of yelling superficial nonsense over the video like a lot of reactors do. She paused because she needed to pause, so she did the right thing.

I love her music so much. She is one of my favorite solo artists. She is such a beauty ! I really adore her. She is THE BEST.
