The negative energy fed their powers not the Dazzlings themselves. They can still eat regular food. Remember how Sonata (I think that's the ditzy one) got so excited when she saw it was Taco Tuesday in the cafeteria? That pretty much said they do eat regular food, they just need the negative energy to fuel their dark powers.
Also, Tirek didn't "feed" on magic, he steals it to add to his own.
We might be the only ones who kind of understand what the dazzlings are all about instead of making ridiculous theories and making people get the wrong idea. Props bro. :)

Dazzlings don't feed on magic, but HATE (or negativity in general)

I know I’m like 3 years late but, Siren’s voice are naturally controlling, in Equestria the gem was just used to feed. It was honestly pretty stupid for them to depend on a pendant to keep them have a good voice.
I honestly don't think thet survived,but i hope they did. However like you said it'll be hard. I hope we get a movie where they can redeem themselves

For those of you who have heart, you gotta admit that the state that they are in (in the picture), I feel pretty bad for them. Hungry and probably tired. And I'm not saying that you don't have heart so please try not to be offended.
I thought the necklaces were the spirits of the sirens, and the dazzlings were three random girls who found them and were controlled by them.

SailorPony Amy I saw it once when it came out, but I remember the necklaces breaking, the sirens being destroyed, and the three girls running away after realizing they couldn't sing anymore. tbh, I only watched it with my cousin, so I may have been distracted at an important part, or I've just forgotten that. If that's so, then I'll say I'm wrong.

I believe they eat like normal people to sustain their bodies and need magic to sustain their songs. In the movie, we learn they must sing to gain power but how long does that power last. The more power they gain the stronger their hypnotic songs works, as seen in the ending.
In the pony world, every pony is connected with magic aka cutie marks. So why can't the people in the human have some magic in them too? And the magic they feed on is negative magic, unlike Tirek who feeds on all magic and we know there is dark magic as seen by King Sombra and like Tirek they must take the magic of others to get stronger. If this is true it would make sense as to why they got so powerful after feeding of the main 6 negative mist magic, in the scene where they start fighting and blaming each other.
So when their gems were destroyed they lost all their magic and must now live like everyone else in that world.
This was the best logic I could come up with and made the most sense to me.

Magic is a form of energy the dazzlings use to sustain themselves. They absorbed it via necklaces. Now that the necklaces are gone, will they starve? Or can they live off of human food alone.

Twilight's crown gave magic to the mane 5 in EG1, The mane 5 gave it to the Dazzlings when there were arguing underneath the stage.

Well, the Dazzlings don't know the portal exists. Starswirl wanted to make sure they wouldn't return by hiding its existence. But the portal cracked when Midnight Sparkle destroyed the horse statue, that was like a few months later.
Besides, even if the Dazzlings would learn that the statue was a portal back to Equestria, it would be unlikely that they would return to the school after what they did. There's simply not enough magic to be absorbed by a human from such a small crack, it can only manifest itself into gems. And the chances of finding normal gems is pretty low in the human world. Let alone finding gems created by magic from a leaking portal miles from the place they were found, and Gloriosa found them. It is not known whether the magic was sent to camp Everfree by wind or by the magic's nature.
Regardless; Those pedants are long gone. Probably thrown in a trash heap and sent to an incinerator.
I personally think that the gems weren't created by the magic leaking into the human world, but were actually the human world's version of the Elements of Harmony, since parallel universes would have balance aside from the few Equestrians that ended up taking a one-way trip to the human world.

The reason the main six's negative energy gave the sirens more power is because if you heard in the beginning of the movie "rainbow rocks" after feeding off the people (negative energy) in the little restaurant they called it "fast food" because the energy in the human world isn't the same in equestria calling the energy a meal.
But why would Sonata know what a taco is (and want one) if they don't eat?
Because they eat. Minor mistake, but sometimes people make them.
negative energy has to be their main food source because if you heard in the beginning of the movie Aria says "ugh that was nearly worth the effort Adagio. I'm tired of fast food I need a meal" and then Adagio says "the energy in this world isn't the same as an Equestria, we can only gain so much power here" remember?

Sonata Dusk loves her Taco-Tuesdays. This shows they have human digestion systems and eat normal food. The Sirens were from Equestria originally as enchanted Hippogriff's, (Water-Horses) and as we've seen; everyone gets changed after passing over into this world.
When the Dazzling's Jewels (the source of their power) were destroyed, they lost any and all magic and any link to their old Hippogriff Astral body forms. They simply reverted to normal humans as have all (with exception of Spike) who've come through the portal from Equestria.
The Dazzling's make their return in Equestria Girls: Better Together in the music video Find the Magic, performing at the Starswirled Music Festival and singing about adjusting to life after losing their magic.

My thought after the movie was that food was an alternative to the negative energy they feast on, but gave no special abilities like said negative energy. The other thought was that they require food, but the negative energy feeds their power and immortality. Without access to negative energy, the Dazzlings will age like everyone else. In the movie, we have seen instances where they eat normal food.
Speaking of taco Tuesday.... Sonata was super excited, so I assume they can eat....
so they are thousands of years old while looking like teens
and they still somehow got enrolled into a highschool without a parent/guardian
and no one noticed that that they don't age
and that when they sing, you start to argue for no reason
My theory is that while the Sirens primarily feed on the negative energy, it's mostly for fueling their voices and that they can eat regular food (evidenced by Sonata getting excited for Taco Tuesday). As for what happened to them, their pendants were broken so they lost their voices and mind controlling abilities. This would just make them normal girls. Normal girls that need normal food to live. However, since they were from Equestria, the have no money, no way to get money, no family other than each other, and no identification of any kind. Thus dooming them to slowly starve to death on the streets.
They are literally the coolest villains
I think the Dazzlings without the magic of their jewels, become complete humans and likely evenly getting their own cutie marks, for that human world, the Sirens as creatures no longer exist or they been trapped as humans forever and a day thus no longer pose a threat to anyone unless they discover some other magical jewels that gives them power and revive the creatures known as Sirens. Also, I don't think they would be attending Cantalot high anymore, likely they "Transfered off" to another school, just not Crystal Prep which for some reason or another lost its Headmistress between the end of film 3 and the start of Dance Magic Special. The reason why I can't see them at Crystal Prep is, that I just can't envision them in the school uniform.
I have a theory. But just a quick disclaimer, they can't remove their necklaces, or they'll die. However, during the finals of the Battle of the Bands, the pendants were broken, not removed, so the human Dazzlings didn't die, but their siren forms did (so they would keep their human form even if they returned to Equestria) along with their negative energy. I believe a portion of the negative energy (the portion that they collected in Equestria) may have "oxidized" and turned into Equestrian magic. They escaped the school and hid out on campus until the Starswirl Festival, where they were signed in as a "last-minute addition". The Dazzlings came to discover if they had actually lost their magic, which they had. However, they kept the remnants of their pendants just in case. (Even when they had their pendants, they could still eat human food. They didn't collect the negative energy for quenching their hunger, but to gain power.)

I mean I have some explanations, Sonata does say that she likes Tacos which means they eat foods. And since they do have many forms, when they lost the magic of their Siren Gems, it would explain how they came back as ponies in the card game.
well, in the movie, there is a scene where Sonatta is exited that it's taco tuesday, so I'm pretty sure that they eat phisical food.

Maybe their pendants are their way of extracting magic or mana (a.k.a enery source)
This means they are able to survive without it, however their ability to cast any sort of magic will be hindered or non at all.

I like this theory. As you said a car can't run without fuel for the engine, but it doesn't do much better without oil in the engine either. So yeah, they need food and emotions (or they do one thing with food and another thing with emotion much like how mosquitoes actually use nectar as food but use blood to make eggs with). If sirens traditionally ate the dead sailors which they obtained by singing seductive songs to them then doesn't the classic legend already presuppose that they need a mixture of food and emotion? First they absorb the emotions of the sailors as they are rushing to the rocks to find the lovely singers, then when the sailors are dead the sirens eat their physical bodies.
Mind you though, that would suggest that they were some form of carnivore, makes you wonder why they didn't just kidnap Fluttershy and have her watch as they prepared meat and ate it. There should be enough emotion there for an army of sirens... O.O
As for them starving, well, where did they get the rubies from to begin with, and can they make more, even if they can't get back to Equestria? Or, what if they figure out about the portal and try to go home (could they be one of the reasons that the crystals in "Legend of Everfree" leaked over from Equestria? After all, with Equestria dumping more and more magic over into the EQG world that world may now be getting to the point where it needs its own "elements of harmony" to keep things in proper balance...)?
Also, if Queen Chrysalis can come back, why not the Dazzlings? What if they are the EQG world's equivalent to the changelings, an emotion eating enemy that you can defeat but never truly get rid of? I can see future movie potential for them (or at least a comic book series).
personally I believe that they are capable of surviving purely on human food only because of the taco Tuesday thing, we don't try something new without a good reason and the fact that they can not only eat tacos but enjoy them as well points to them having a "humanish" digestive system so I believe they will probably at most be a little tired at first from not having their preferred food source but there bodies should adapt over time since they are still sirens they just can't feed like a siren normally would so they most likely will live long enough to fully adapt, but who knows.

They do appear to be able to feed normally. Note that when we first meet them, they're in a diner. That would suggest that they are capable of providing for themselves food-wise.

if you rewatched the movie then you would notice that Senata says, "But we can eat after right? It's taco Tuesday!!!" before they walk into the cafeteria to absorb negative energy(their POWER source)

Almost everyday I come on TH-cam and watch your videos, it just makes my day better. I want to thank you for making TH-cam videos and making other people's day better.
From what I got out of it, the Sirens feed off of negative energy. BUT that energy doesn't feed them like food does. It feeds their own powers, hence why when the gems break, their singing has lost it's hypnotic touch and they lost the magic they gained. So when it broke, they were no longer able to contain the negative energy and therefore they are magicless. Doesn't mean that they died from it.
I wouldn't mind the Dazzlings reforming since they no longer have their powers maybe they're now living as normal teenage girls I especially want Sonata Dusk to reform too she is the cutest of her sisters.

My theory is this... The way they work is like super saiyan. But instead of using electrical potential and making it energy, they use magic as a substantial replacement.
That would also explain how they can gain so much power off of more magic, but not the food part.
They could simply use the magic to MAKE FOOD. Kinda like discord makes stuff randomly using magic, makes sense, right?

In my Fanfic, I think they try different things to be adored but they fail without there gems. But when Magic from the statue made the Gems back together and get revenge on the Rainbooms. That's just my theory's on what's going to happen in the future.

They fed on negativity around them when they were in a fast-food restaurant through their pendants. They're likely wholly dependent on negativity for sustenance, and they need their pendants to feed. The pendants break. Dazzlings starve.

In the storyboard of the song during sunset walk down the street there is a girl with a long ponytail and clearly has a stripe. They didn't want to reveal Sotana was still alive and that means they may come back. And if it is her the girls better watch out
Its Tales of Xillia logic. In the game the main character Milla had lost her greatest weapon and also lost the thing that sustained her without the need to eat. When she lost it she had to eat normal food for the first time in her 20 years of life realizing that eating was good.
So you could think of the whole Dazzlings listing there pendants as that, they just need to swap one sustainable food source for another. But then you have the problem of money, so these teenager have to get a job at a burger place where they have to wear a ridiculous uniform. Wouldn't that be a funny scene that the heroine go to a burger place seeing the Dazzlings wearing the uniforms and covered in grease.

I think the Dazzlings are probably like Superman. Superman doesn't need to eat He can get all his energy from the sun but he can eat food to receive energy so if there was an eclipse that lasted a week Superman would not starve .
In the scene in the diner, Aria says that she needs a meal, or something along those lines, so that means they need food to sustain themselves like everyone else. The negativity, or green smoke the necklaces soak up, probably makes their magic more powerful, and most likely doesn't really sustain them as food would. At the end of the movie, once the necklaces were broken, they couldn't sing well and thus couldn't control the students. This supports the necklaces being only for magic and not for actual feeding. So maybe now they're just wandering the streets, scavenging for food, like they, (possibly), were before going to CHS. At least that's what I think.👍

I think it's pretty clear that the Dazzlings didn't die, it's because Sonata mentions food more than once earlier in the show.

About if they eat or not, probably not. I looked back and they were in the restaurant in the beginning and Aria said "Im tired of fast food! I need a meal!". Adagio answered with "The magic here isnt as strong as it is in Equestria" or something along those lines. Im thinking that feeding off of the hate is their food which is why they even have people hate more often in the first place.
Also maybe they eat but only by choice but their main food source is the hate from others.

But seriously, when the amulets shattered, the Dazzlings became normal teens with no singing ability. This leads me to believe that the amulets contained the souls of the siren monsters from Equestria and the Dazzlings were in fact possessed by them. If that's true, they probably went back to their mortal lives (apparently somewhere else as we never see them again).
I think the necklaces had their siren magic inside and when the necklaces broke, the siren part aka magic got destroyed and they turned into normal humans

in the movie they ACTUALLY SAY THAT THEY EAT!!! (well one of them keeps talking about food anyway.) and it also explains that if they don't get negative energy they would loose their powers. SO i think that once they lost their powers they were just mortal teen girls.

i think with the dazzlings it's alot like a car you need both gas and electricity to keep it running, so they eat food to maintain themselves physically but they have no way to replenish the reserves of magic that they are going through. this could lead to a compensation tactic where they eat more to make up for the lost magic but ultimately physical food won't be a viable replacement for magical food. or atleast that's what i thought of.

We need a Rap Magic EqG special/movie to bring back the Dazzlings, and a chance for Sonata, Adagio and Aria to redeem themselves, plus, we could give them an enemy to fight (maybe the one who created the siren pendants for them). Plus, Sci-Twi and Sunset could help them.

one should consider their origin. who gave them those crystal gems? could King Sombra have done it? imagine King Sombra had an enemy trio of girls/ponies he could not beat, so he corrupted them with these gems that changed them into hungry sirens as it destroyed their memory of what they used to be. still the gems did not change their personalities, their intelligence, or their colors (mostly). and you know them, come now remember their names; Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.
